Sometimes she wondered if things would have been different if she'd finished sorting herself out before then, and she thought that maybe she'd been using a marriage as a means of feeling whole when she was still a bit lost when it came to her father being gone and certain things about herself. It was not something she often liked to dwell on, and certainly not something she'd shared with Chris yet, but it was an idea that grew as things continued to settle into place.

Following Tallulah's examination of the ring and subsequent revelation, Paris dropped her hand and felt guilty for trying to show off for once. “Oh...” she said, and wondered if she could have possibly picked a more awkward topic. She twisted her hands in her lap so that her ring was no longer in view. “I'm sorry.”
The call for dinner could not have come at a better time. Paris put a smile back onto her face and rose with Tallulah. “Thanks. It sounds delicious.”
Dinner would allow them the time to move beyond all the depressing and awkward stuff. After, they could put it behind them and continue on with more pleasing things.
