"It feels odd under my paws." She personally prefered the stone paths of the marketplace, but she figured to each their own. If it kept the mortals happy, then all the better for them.

As they began their descent Val had to wonder if Isidore and the children had discovered the catacombs, it seemed like a paradise for them, a dark unexplored world. They were likely staying away from the cathedral for the time being and really that was not something she should medel with. One day she would bring them down, though there were likely to be grown before her.

"Yes, it is." Though the situation itself... The aoide hesitated, wondering if she should speak her mind or not. It was probably blasphemous on so many level, and she knew Ankou would deny it...
And that was likely exactly why she had to speak of it. And so she decided to do so, as she navigated the dark halls carefully.
"But at the same time... things are harder than they used to be. My master and Lord Nergal..." She hesitated again. "Even more so in this life than before... They were like two sides of the same coin. Opposites. Together they completed each other in a way that I cannot quite explain. They played each other's strengths while making up for each other's shortcomings."
"I think this is not all about all this work he has to do... I-if I might be bold." She shook her head. "He's also lost his brother, if not to death than to... Whatever state the lord is that cannot be pulled from. And at the same time, it is like he lost a part of himself, too. But now he has so much to worry about..." The dead, his family, the valkyries, helping his friends... "...That he doesn't have to stop to realize that he is hurting. As long as he doesn't stop, he doesn't have to think about it. He does not have to process it. At least... That is what I think. I knew him well then, and I know him even better now."

"You may speak your mind with me." Valyrmora was not one for pomp or ceremony. She liked people to speak plain as she was a plain speaker herself ... or at least had been.
"He has not had time to grieve you mean?" She asked, a slight frown. It made sense, he and Nergal were one really, he was part of the coin that had been Nergal.
"Perhaps he thinks there is no one to hear his grief?" Alva spoke. "Everyone seems to be so busy being angry about Nergal, maybe he feels there is no one who would listen?" Though surely his wife would or someone like Jinx.

"Yes, that he has not quite come to term with what he feels is likely the case... but at the same time not completely so. I am sorry, it is hard to explain..." How could she find the words ? if the lady could have seen it, then she would have understood. Of this, Jinx was certain. "He simply hasn't been quite the same. Much like there was a piece of himself missing with his brother. Like a hole he has to fill up again, but he will not stop long enough to let that cut heal."
The cat did not know the truth, that, yes, this was exactly how it was, and that she was closer to the truth that she could ever imagine.

"Nergal and I were two halves of a whole. Ankou is part of Nergal, it would make sense that he would feel his loss more than any of us." Perhaps she could help the spirit guide. She was so interested in herself and asking her questions she had never really allowed him his own time to speak.
"I do understand what you are trying to say." She gave the cat woman a smile. "I should be more supportive to him." She was his aunt after all, this was becoming clear to her the more time she spent with him, the more she quested for the Underworld.

That was not what Jinx expected, and for a moment she stopped, and all she could do was stare. "But... They are brothers... Are they not ?" Clearly the aoide had been unaware of this. "None of them ever said anything like this..."
It explained a lot, but at the same time... At the same time, it was so confusing. "Are you certain, my lady ?" She did not want to argue with her, but... But this was clearly something she had issues wrapping her mind around.

((Hope all this Kou stuff is okay ^^)) As the cat girl stopped, so did Val, she realised what she had said and what exactly had dawned on her.
"Yes." She replied, not entirely confidently. She wasn't sure if Ankou knew or wanted it known ... but then why not? Another thing she needed to discuss with him.
"I don't remember having another brother. There was myself and Nergal ... that's it as far as I know. Ankou came later, much later." She frowned a little. "I am not sure he knows, or perhaps he suspects but is not sure." She shrugged. "Ankou was created from Nergal." As she spoke the words she was sure they were true. "By Nergal."

To say the catgirl was surprised was putting it lightly. "He has never spoken of this to me." She found herself pondering the same questions. Did he remember ? Had either of them ?
And yet at the same time it explained so much. "I would never have thought..." Jinx shook her head. This changed nothing in the grand scheme of things, of course - her lord had been the one who had noticed her, taken her, saved her. But this was not something Jinx had even pondered, not at all.

"I don't know how aware he is of it all really." She admitted, it had really only just dawned on her, it had been there, like a nagging feeling, something she had not been able to put her finger on until that moment. "I will bring it up with him when I see him next I think."

"I could not say. It is not always easy to guess at what he might be thinking." Her lord was secretive, had always been, even to her and the valkyries. Skuld might have managed to get closer than the rest of them, but whatever she might have known, the cat had never been privy to.
"You would know best, my lady." She had started walking again, then. There were things to be done, after all. "It should not be too much longer, now."
