Mimsy immediately changed her mind about her lack of complaints when she realized which shop Allan was dragging her into.
There was lingerie.
Only lingerie.
This was so far out of her area of expertise - and her comfort zone. She tried to remember to breathe as she stood in the entrance, wide-eyed and out of place.

"Please," Mimsy muttered through her clenched teeth, clutching the golem's arm. "Please do not do anything strange. If possible, the optimal action would be to leave immediately."
She looked at Allan hopefully. It didn't work.
Instead, he smiled brightly and threw his arms into the air.
"My star barrettes are fabulous!" he shouted.
He was not wearing any star barrettes.

"You are not wearing any star barrettes," Mimsy firmly informed him, glaring up at the over-excited golem.
"...you're joking..." it grumbled, crumpling down to sulk. Unfortunately, its upper body slumped onto a display table of lacy panties, which was not at all okay.
"No. No, no." Her cheeks flushed as she desperately tried to encourage the golem to stop, before one of the attendants could make their way to them.

With his face still buried in delicate underwear, Allan tried to speak.
"Can you suggest something for me?" it asked, followed by a pout.
There was nothing in this store that Mimsy felt even remotely comfortable suggesting. Her expression was very pained as she randomly selected neon-colored underwear, hoping that the bright fabric could entice the golem into submission.

"Are these acceptable?" Mimsy asked, awkwardly extending the items towards Allan. "Nope!" It cheerfully smacked them out of her hand, sending them flying into another display. Mimsy sighed into her hands.

"I want that one instead!"
Mimsy cautiously peeked through her fingers to see what Allan was pointing at. It was a set on a mannequin, and his loud desire to own it attracted the attention of one of the clerks.
After a clumsy attempt at explaining that the undergarments were for the tall 'man' next to her, she relented and pretended to admit that they were for her. Unfortunately, having never been in Victoria's Secret, she failed to factor in how helpful they were.
She was measured and offered an entire armful of intricate underwear. The saleswoman told her not to be so shy, and shooed her away into one of the dressing rooms. Every few minutes, she knocked on the door and asked to see, which was quite unsettling. Why would she want to see something that would be under her clothing anyway?
Eventually, she began to ask alarmingly personal questions, which Mimsy could not manage to avoid answering. Upon offering some specific information, the saleswoman began to urge her to buy certain garments because 'her boyfriend would just love it'. It bothered her that she knew this with such certainty, because she was fairly certain that this woman did not know him. How could she sound so sure when she said such a thing?
The entire process was strange and uncomfortable and included far too much physical contact, and she left the store with a distant, empty stare.

For some bizarre reason, the golem chose a store filled with makeup next. It took two steps inside, looked at her, and said:
"Hey. You try this on too."
'This' happened to be one of the lingerie sets from the previous store. With a noise of protest, she took it from the insistent golem, located the nearest bathroom, and changed into it.

"Nice job!" Allan complimented her.
Mimsy stared, because she had no idea how she looked any different. Her eyes remained focused on the golem as she began to randomly pick up makeup to push in its direction.

They looked through quite a bit of makeup, but the golem seemed generally disinterested, as if its mind were elsewhere. Apparently, it was. It stood up and announced that it forgot something, then took off towards Victoria's Secret again. Mimsy looked a little shaky on her feet as she followed, eyes still startlingly wide.

Thankfully, the golem didn't actually forget anything, and looped back into the makeup store. It idled for a while, and Mimsy waited with folded arms, hoping that it might malfunction and explode. Instead, it shoved her into a chair and hopped up and down. "You too! You too!" it chanted, until one of the store's makeup artists came to see what the commotion was.

The woman tsked at her for far too long, shoving her hair around and out of her face. Without warning, she removed her glasses and set them aside, and began to brush something onto her face.
And Mimsy got a super great makeover! Geek chic is totally in, so she even got to keep her glasses this time, hooray!

"ERROR QUERY: LOCATION? INPUT NEEDED." Finally, Allan was speaking her language. So she went back to Hot Topic. But it appeared the golem was running on a backwards loop of some sort, because the next thing out of its mouth was: "You should change your outfit too." Well. Of all options she'd seen so far, this was by far the most preferable. Mimsy's New Mission Uniform:
