The package he had taken out was opened, and Finn continued to casually act as though nothing had happened, with a small flare of hope that Fini hadn't caught on to his body tensing, or if she had, that she kept it to herself as he really didn't want to talk about it. To say that this entire situation was embarrassing enough for him as it was, would be an understatement. He still remembered how he had screamed when the poison had sent fire through his veins, lighting up every fiber of his being with pain so intense he was shocked he hadn't passed out from that as well. It was not a proud moment, and not one he wished to ever have to think about again. Inside the package was, surprise surprise, crackers, though these ones at least appeared to be of the cheddar cheese flavored variety. He reached over while she was still holding it to pluck as many out as he could to settle into the palm of his hand, then used his thumb to maneuver each up to his index finger to pop into his mouth and munch on one at a time. It wasn't until he started eating that he realized just how famished he was, and thirsty as well, now that the salty, cheesie taste his his tongue, and with each swallow, no matter how much he chewed, it was like razor blades against the inside of his throat. It was with some amount of hesitation that he let Fini go, his own reluctance clear by the way his hand grabbed for hers once it was empty of the crackers, squeezing it maybe just a little bit tighter then usual. It wasn't that he was scared to be alone, it was more of a combination of not wanting to lose that comfort of having her near, and also not wanting for her to think she needed to wait on him hand and foot. Surely he could manage getting himself something to drink! But he was exhausted, his eyelids feeling heavy, his stomach growling now that some little bit of food had been put into it. His body did ache to the point where getting back up seemed like a terrible chore, as well. So he let her go, with a small quirk of a smile and a murmured, "Thanks." As she stood up and leaned down to kiss him on the forehead, a second package hitting his lap, this one with items that were quite a bit more tempting then the first to consume. And then she was gone, and he was left alone to well...eat. That was all he could really do, and it was at least keeping him awake as he waited for her return. While she was gone, he tried to think of things not related to the Sahara. He tried to think of what he would do the next day, what duties he would still be able to perform after he got a night of rest. He could probably still check on the minipets, and actually, the thought of seeing that little Jake looking pet again managed to lift his spirits just slightly, as he remembered all of the very Jake like faces it could pull. By the time Fini came back, he actually might have looked just a bit perkier, the food perhaps giving him some small burst of energy, his stomach becoming satisfied though his throat still protested. She had rapped on the door, but before he could say anything it was opened, and she was slipping herself through the door with a mug in one hand that had his eyebrows raising. Coffee? He popped a handful of dried fruit into his mouth before taking the offered cup away from her, noting right away that it wasn't even warm, let alone hot, and that when he looked inside and got a smell, it definitely wasn't coffee. Ugh. Tea. Mint. He was not a big flavored tea fan, if he had to drink it at all. He might have even wrinkled his nose up a little, but still took a sip, because he was incredibly thirsty. The coolness was still shocking even though he knew that it would be, and the minty flavor, while not exactly pleasant, he could still feel soothing his throat as it went down. "That's very uh...different." He supplied, as he eyed the aspirin in her hand. Okay, Fini, he did only have one hand.... He shrugged his shoulders and opened his mouth, waiting for her to drop them in so he could take another swig of cold mint tea to wash them down with. He might also attempt to bite her fingers playfully if she wasn't careful.

If he'd flat out told her he didn't want to talk about what had happened, she would not have blamed him one bit. She knew what it was like. Had been through hell before herself. And, much like him, did not have any desire to talk about those times and admit how weak she'd been. How... to use her own word, 'pathetic' she'd appeared.
There was a clear hesitation in her own movements with the way he grabbed her hand as she got up, and the squeeze. A little more firm than was his usual. She met his eyes calmly, letting him decide if she was going or staying. And ignoring anything that might have filtered through, making her think he was going to be annoyed with her waiting on him. He'd just have to get over that one for now!
For a brief moment, there was pleasant surprise in her eyes as he murmured 'thanks'. Her lips quirked up as she backed away to head out to room. "You're welcome, sweetheart." She winked and slipped out to go about getting the tea - it was all she had that would help, okay? - and return as quick as she could.
Once back in his room, mug handed off and watching his reaction, Fini just gave him a look. And there may have been amusement flickering along her features. She stepped closer, fingers still curled around the Aspirin as she tapped his nose with her index finger before dropping the pills in his open mouth. "Don't make faces. It's better than just water. Unless you want to be raspy sounding longer." If he was quick, he probably would have successfully snagged a finger in the process. And earned another look. She also waited until he'd taken a good few gulps of the tea before showing him she had a water bottle as well, which she tossed onto his bed. "But if you're going to be a baby about it... "
Her lips twitched and she gave his nose one more tap before sitting down carefully beside him. One hand slid up along his back, rubbing gently against skin. The other rested along his thigh as she let her chin rest on his shoulder.
"Mmm... I know you hate it," she finally spoke quietly, "but for the next day, how about a freebie? If you need anything... just ask, sweetheart."

Finn knew that he was being a bit of a brat, and perhaps behaving more then just a little bit ungratefully given the situation, but he either flat out didn't care or thought that Fini needed to get used to how he was if she wanted to be with him, sooner rather then later. He did take a few sips of the tea, though not without needing to grimace each time, unable to get used to the cold, minty taste that hit his tongue, though at least he could admit to it helping with his sore throat. The tap on his nose got a narrowed glare, and his teeth did indeed graze the edges of the tips of her fingers when she reached forward to drop the pills in his mouth, expression flat as he took one long swig of his drink to help wash the pills down. Any looks she had to give him were flat out ignored, because most of his concentration was focused on just finishing the damn drink without retching. Finally, after a long pause, he said, his lips quirking in a half smirk, but his eyes just as cold as ever. "Maybe I like having a raspy voice. Maybe I think it adds character." Another swig of the tea was taken, and the cup itself a full three quarters empty by the time she revealed the much preferred plain water that she had been concealing, his smirk falling as she threw it on to the bed, her muttered words not at all going unnoticed before she tapped his nose again, which earned another snap of teeth in her direction. "I'm not a baby." His voice lacked expression or emotion, though the hand suddenly sliding up along his back at least earned her a small shiver, and one Finn Connor leaning into that touch, the small circles she was rubbing against his skin almost heavenly, even if the area was still sensitive from the fire that had tried to consume him. His arm went around her once more, hand still clutching at the mug of cold tea. His head tilted to the side just slightly, touching her against hers before lifting back up, staring straight ahead to the other side of the room before he responded. "I do hate it." He admitted, his voice slightly strained. "I'm not completely helpless. I'm not a child. You are not my caretaker." With that last word he simultaneously shrugged his shoulder while also leaning away, forcefully dislodging her chin from it's perch on his shoulder. And then he turned his body towards hers, leaned his face down, and caught her lips with his. The arm around her traveled upwards, until he could pull her in closer against him, the mug still in his hand likely digging into her upper back. He made the kiss last, despite the raw, sun burnt, dry feeling in his lips, taking only a quick breath before kissing her again, and again, leaning into her, enjoying every precious second of it as though it might be the last. And who knew? With what had just occurred the day before, it might be. When he finally pulled away, his face felt flushed, and he let his forehead rest against hers as he took in a deep and steadying breath. "I don't hate that, however. That's what I need from you right now, Fini. I just need you to be here, not to baby me, not to patronize me. Just let me hold you, just remind me that I'm here, and not there anymore. That's just what I need." Another quick kiss, and he was pulling away, arm coming back and lifting the cup to his lips so he could down what was left of it, this time not even cringing before he turned, leaned forward, and placed it on the floor. And then he flopped back on his bed, his bandaged arm resting against his chest as he stared up at the ceiling with an intense, brown gaze.

Okay she really didn't care if he drank it or not at this point. But the determined look and blank face he was giving as he drank the drink were too much incentive to continue giving him a slightly hard time over it. Not much, but enough to garner those looks she was receiving. And the feel of teeth grazing her fingers. She would not have blamed him for biting them.
Fini tilted her head slightly, regarding Finn as he replied. "Mmm... touche there. It does add some character, doesn't it?" And, alright, she could admit to the raspy voice adding tot he roguish look he had going. The snap of his teeth had that sly little grin flashing along her features again. Especially with how his face suddenly lost it's small bit of expression when she tossed the water bottle on his bed. Yep. That was a point against her that he was allowed to exact revenge against later.
"No?" She was quite aware that he was not, in any way, a 'baby'. Honestly, she was relieved more than she realized with his usual void of emotion replies and facial expressions. That was Finn. And if he could still act like that, he was on the road to recovery for sure.
The feel of his arm around her again was comforting and she focused on rubbing his back gently, sly looks softening again as he leaned into the touch. At least until her chin was forcefully dislodged, her hand falling from his back to support herself instead of being unbalanced and falling into him. Her own expression had shifted, becoming more neutral as he'd spoken. As she listened. Felt several different things flicker through her before there was no room for thinking.
There was a small spell of fear that flitted through her as he kissed her, Fini not wanting to hurt him any more than he already was. But he was pulling her closer, the mug digging into her back, between her shoulder blades. She leaned in closer, letting him control everything. The kisses. How close he wanted her. Everything. She didn't bother to hide her willingness to kiss him back, perhaps letting him have a small look at the thunderstorm of emotions she'd been hiding since finding out he'd been sent to the Sahara.
By the time he pulled back, her breathing was shaky at best as she took in several deep breaths. There was some feeling reflected in her gaze that she wasn't able to hide so easily.
"Finn... " His name was said soft and sweet as she watched him finish the tea and flop back on his bed. Her gaze traveled all along his body before moving back to his face. And that intense look in his eyes. She leaned forward to slide her feet from boots she'd been wearing outside, then easing back on the bed, curling her legs to her side as she leaned just far enough over him to block his view of the ceiling, blue eyes meeting brown.
"You're damn right I am not your caretaker." She murmured, reaching her hand to pet along his face, a surprisingly serious look on her own. "But I am the woman that cares about you." And cared about him a lot, she was realizing. "And if that's what you want, I can do that, sweetheart." She whispered, leaning down to place a tender kiss along his lips.

Her hesitation during the kiss was met with him only forcing it on her more. He might have been in pain, but at least this pain was met with the reward of soft lips against his own, of raw hunger and need and emotion crammed into that one simple motion, of a desperation to show her that he was fine, everything was <******** fantastic thank you very much, and this was all he needed from her. Not her sympathy, not her charity, just this. And when it was over, her shaky breath was all he needed to prove to himself that she had needed it to, until he opened his eyes and saw the look in hers, the emotions she couldn't hide behind them that he so easily could with his own. It wrenched at something deep inside of him, something that he quickly stomped back down because he didn't have time to analyze whatever it was at the moment, not while also dispensing so much mental energy to repress so many other things right now. Falling back on the bed, he stared up at the ceiling. His name said with her soft, oh so sweet voice was in it's own way almost chilling, as though he sensed that it was just the calm before the storm he assumed was to come next. He was expecting anger, for her to first blame him, then herself for what happened. Resentment, frustration, all spurned on by the pain he'd caused just by being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Then he honestly expected she might actually leave, because he wasn't exactly a joy to be around right now, and he knew that as well. But after his name, nothing was said. Instead there was just movement as she brought herself up onto the bed and laid down at his side, curling in next to him and leaning in above him to block his view, so that all that was left in his vision was the blue of her directly above his own. Her words shortly after that, combined with a touch to his cheek, was not at all what he had been expecting to happen. The woman. His woman. She cared about him. He didn't know what to say. In fact, he might have been so shocked, still processing what she had said, that he barely responded to that soft kiss at all. It was silly, really, that it was so hard for him to wrap his head around such a simple concept. It should have made more sense, really. Maybe he had just gotten so used to dealing with the vapid, the dim witted girls, the pathetic ones that were so easy to control, to break, to use and discard before finding something new. Perhaps he had just forgotten what it was like to care and to be cared about..... It was almost refreshing, and heartwarming. He could feel the small smile that tugged at his lips, and he reached up a hand brush knuckles against he side of her face. "Thank you." He had said it once before, but this time it held more feeling, it meant more, even if he couldn't show it, or possibly just wouldn't, in his gaze. And then, "I might just be a bit partial to you myself."

The way he pressed that kiss into her, his hunger and need and emotion assaulting her all at once, Fini responded with as much passion as she could give him. Without hurting him. Because she needed it. Needed the reassurance from him as much as he needed it from her. Because damnit! Goddamn feelings. She couldn't even begin to decipher half of them. And really didn't want to right now.
Sometimes, she had to envoy his ability to be so expressionless. A skill she was not as proficient in. But could pull off well enough under other circumstances.
But right now? These were not such circumstances. And a bit of her felt vulnerable, unable to hide everything she felt. And yes, there may have been some anger in her still, but none of it was directed towards him. However the thought to leave never crossed her mind at all. Because how could she leave him - even if he was being a jackass (which was nothing new, honestly) - when he had asked her to stay. Of course she was going to!
His lack of response to her kiss was only slightly off putting, but she'd felt the start of a smile against his lips and wondered if he was that surprised? It was true! She cared about him! Hearing him say 'thank you' again, but with more meaning had Fini giving him a half smile. The words that followed, however, earned a quirky grin. "Is that so?" She murmured, brushing her fingers along the side of his face and neck. Leaning down closer, she placed soft kisses along his neck down to his collar bone. "Well. I'm quite glad, Mister Connor." She teased gently, laying down beside him, draping an arm around his middle while the other curled under her head.
"Are you feeling okay?" She asked after a few minutes, the arm resting along him moving softly as her hand brushed his abused skin.

The kissing was nice. Almost too nice, considering his injuries would most definitely hamper his abilities to do anymore then just that. He was ingratiated by the fact that Fini had stuck around this long, that she gave back as good as she was given, so that even when she held back from hurting him, he hardly noticed at all. Of course he hadn't wanted it to end, would have kept on kissing her, just because he could, just because he was alive so that he could. But instead he had ended it, lying down on the bed, not sure what to think or how he should be feeling. He never knew how he should feel, the coldness inside that was reflected in his eyes giving testimony to that fact. But it wasn't all coldness, no. There were other emotions that writhed in his gut, emotions that he still could not quite find it within himself to decipher or set free to their fullest extent. It wasn't smart to do so, especially now, especially here. No, not in his room, but on an island of hunters, of people so ruthless that they would send a gathering of innocent bystanders to a desert where bugs could control their bodies, where acid could burn through skin and bones could be broken and throats torn out. No, this was not the place for him to be the changed man he had once thought to be. His words to Stormy, a sort of promise that he was going to try to be different here...they meant nothing now. He was going to be who he was, and that was a horrible, unfeeling a*****e. Except for this woman lying next to him. She threw a wrench in anything, because despite what he might think, despite how much he wished to be completely unfeeling, he did care about her. The stroke of her fingers across his cheek and down the side of his neck, the gentle kisses that had him letting out a light sigh, a tired sound, but not a bad one. "You know I don't think I even know how to pronounce your last name." He admitted, as she slung an arm across him, his arm moving to curl underneath her, both bringing her closer to him and allowing for him to play with the hair at the back of her head. And then they fell into silence, Finn again not really knowing what to say, and Fini allowing him those few minutes to not have to say anything at all. However, as the seconds ticked by, he began to hum, softly at first, then slightly louder. It was a tune he had heard before getting podded, before his trials, and he wasn't quite sure why it had suddenly sprung to mind now. And then words, sang quietly beneath his breath, but in a way that still sounded pleasant, a man who quite probably knew his way around music and how to stay in tune. "♪Feeling my way through the darkness Guided by a beating heart I can't tell where the journey will end But I know where to start
They tell me I'm too young to understand They say I'm caught up in a dream Well life will pass me by if I don't open up my eyes Well that's fine by me♪"It wasn't an answer to her question, not really. It was like he hadn't even heard her as he moved, rolling to his good side, or at least his better one, feeling her fingers sliding over skin that would have been hot to the touch, scorched and burned but nothing worse then what the sun could have done. "♪ So wake me up when it's all over When I'm wiser and I'm older All this time I was finding myself And I didn't know I was lost ♪ "It felt good, to sing. It had been too long since he had done so. Even if the words weren't exactly the most fitting to his situation, there was a passion in how he sang it, his voice becoming louder so that it was no longer murmured words. Fingers threaded through Fini's hair he pulled her in for another long kiss, breathing words against her lips when he pulled away. "I'll be fine." He didn't say he was fine now, because it would have been a lie. But he did believe that he would be, eventually, given the time.

She really wasn't the best when it came to talking about things, even though she would offer to listen. But she knew what it felt like to not want to put all your weaknesses up on a silver platter. It was already difficult to hide the fact that he had been put in too vulnerable a situation. Not knowing what to fully expect. And she wished, truly, that it could have happened some other way. But the dark reality was... he was right. This was bound to have happened eventually. It was just his unfortunate horrible luck to wind up on the receiving end of Caelius's 'tantrum'.
Goddamn division leads.
So it was more relaxing and relieving then she had originally thought, just being able to lay there with him. To kiss him. Feel that he was whole. Beat up and sore, but whole. And alive. Fini let her eyes close as she just listened to his breathing, curling closer as his arm slid around her. She was growing more and more attached to Finn and it scared her.
A soft snort was exhaled against his shoulder and Fini opened her eyes to peek over at him. "'Win-arrow'." She murmured in amusement. "Though I gave up on ever having anyone pronounce it properly."
Then silence once more, and Fini honestly didn't mind it. She just let her eyes drift close once again, the feel of fingers toying with her hair nice. Her own fingers traced delicately along skin warmer than usual. At first she didn't notice the soft humming. But when it was slightly louder, her hand paused for a brief second before continuing its lazy movements. She was listening to the humming though, surprised when it grew into soft lyrics. They had Fini shifting only slightly, head resting closer to his so she could hear the words better. And an aching in her gut forming with each new line.
She looked up as he moved, twisting enough that she was partially on her back and could see him much better. He'd be able to see clearly the shock and effect his singing had on her. And the lyrics. Not quite an answer to her question. But... the fact he was singing was answer enough, right? And the passion he put into it.
Fini leaned up into that kiss, thanking him in her own way for letting her hear him sing. The hand along his side slid to his back, splaying flat but not pulling him closer. And then she was smiling, a gentle and almost loving sort of smile. She leaned forward enough to place a kiss along his cheek, using the hand on his back to urge him closer, and lay comfortably with her. "I believe you." She whispered, meaning it. No he wasn't fine now, but she also believed he would be. Once the shock of what happened wore off and acceptance came. "And I'll be here for you." Fini added softly, giving him what he'd asked for. Her company and the reassurance he was there and alive.

He was alive, and he was feeling it, very much so, as each kiss he shared with Fini deepened, each time wishing they didn't have to stop just there. Stupid injuries. Still, this was also nice. He enjoyed cuddling, enjoyed physical contact, as surprising as that might have been to some. He equated it to his possible possessiveness, however. This thing that I am touching is mine and nobody else my touch it or have it. "Win-arrow." He murmured back, his eyes closing briefly as he reveled in the warmth of having her next to him, of every small tough she provided. He had certainly needed that time that he'd had to himself, but now he most definitely just needed this. He felt her move as he sang, and he didn't pull away, or stop the words from forming on the air from his lips. When he moved himself, putting himself so that he was on his side but still leaning slightly over her. He would have groped for a hand to hold, but that was slightly difficult in his position, needing the only one he currently had to prop himself up with. The look she was giving him didn't go completely unnoticed, but it didn't stop him or throw him off either. He was enjoying it too much, thinking about how it had really been too long since he'd expressed himself in such a way. Another kiss that he didn't want to end, and as her hand came up to rest on his back he wondered if maybe his injuries weren't all that bad, before hastily getting off of that train of thought, derailing it before it could be taken any further. Instead he used that gentle guide to lay himself back down next to her, face pressing up against her neck and leaving light kisses there as well, before he settled down, leaning his head against her shoulder. "I appreciate that." He murmured, his eyes closing as his exhaustion began to overwhelm him. "Tired." Was the next thing he managed to get out.

If she'd had any inkling of the way he was thinking in regards to being 'possessive', she probably would have laughed her a** off. But Fini did love the physical contact. The cuddeling. Feeling like... she belonged to someone. That maybe, just maybe, she could put her trust in them. Let him know her secrets (not that she had many). Just let him know who she really was.
Or something like that. Okay, that was probably more deep thinking than she wanted to do right now. Especially considering the drowsiness in his words now.
At least until he sang. Hearing him try to pronounce her last name was amusing. But his singing was... special. Something he should do more often, she thought. Of course that would require him to be a little more expressive. And that thought made her laugh a little.
"I know, my last name's not as easy to say as 'Connor'." She mused, letting her fingers trail along the side of his face, up to his buzzed hair, and down along his neck. She was relaxed. More relaxed then she had been since learning what had happened to him. There was still some unease in her, that no matter how hard she tried to hide it, it still slipped out in the way she curled next to him. Keeping the physical contact between them. Reassuring herself - and him - that they were both there. That he was with her.
"You should... sing more often." Fini added softly, after he settled down beside her. A small shiver raised goosebumps along her skin as he left kisses along her neck. "You have a lovely voice." Even when a little raspy too.
His simple statement won a really sweet smile from her. Like equals, or perhaps someone he himself felt a kindle of trust in? It was an honest statement and Fini tilted her head enough to kiss the top of his head. Which felt funny being so soft. "Get some rest, sweetheart. Or try to. I won't go anywhere." A promise.
