I kinda see what you mean, that's what I thought at first, but it turns out that Umbrakinesis and Lumokinesis are completely different. Umbrakinesis is deflection of light.
That's exactly what I'm talking about, the deflection of light. Umbrakinesis isn't the control of shadows, it's the manipulation of the light that creates those shadows, in this case, deflection. Shadows aren't "things", and therefore can't be manipulated. They aren't energy, and they aren't matter. They are the absense of energy, and that absense can be seen (As shadows) on matter.

When I spoke of genetics, I meant traits of the power. Some families are more attunded to Cryo, like mine, so therefore there will be a great deal of them in my family line and my children will be attunded to it. That's what I meant by genetics. It's the possesion of a certain kinesis in ones own DNA.
I do see your point. It is my beleif that every person can use every type of psionic. But (if I get it) what you're saying is that, like some families have a dominant physical trait such as blue eyes, red hair, or being tall, other families have non-physical traits of being more atuned to cold, heat, or electricity. Correct?
