It was early morning and therefore quiet. Talia had been sat in the kitchen drinking her morning tea and reading a book when she heard the call. Luna stood and gave a low bark, looking toward the sick room.

Lia put her book down and stood.
"Stay here Luna, you too Sol." She said, walking through to the main consulting room.
"Hello." She said softly. "You're safe. My name is Talia, I'm a healer. You were found collapsed on the road."

Maia had pushed herself up into a sitting position by the time the door opened. When a woman appeared, she blinked and for a very brief moment thought that maybe she was dead. Though this was certainly not the otherworld that had been described to her since childhood. As she spoke and explained who she was, understanding eased her confusion and Maia glanced around again. She had found people.

"I need help," she said as she looked back to the healer. "My people are dying."

Talia walked over to her and placed her hand on her forehead.
"Shhh, you need to rest." She said softly, frowning at her words. "We have people who can help you, who will help you. But you need to rest or you will not be able to help anyone." She smiled. "I have friends who are eager to speak with you about where you came from." She turned to the door where Sol and Luna were standing, watching.
"Sol, go and find Azriel." She said firmly, the dog barked in understanding and headed off out the main door.

Maia looked up at her as she put her hand on her forehead.
"Friends?" she repeated and then looked to the door as there was a loud bark. She had never seen a dog that looked like that before. "They must hurry. We need to go back," she insisted, turning her ice blue eyes up to the woman.

Talia nodded and smiled.
"Yes, my friends, they will come as soon as they can." She reached for her arm to take her pulse. "Are you warm enough? Hungry?" She would keep her comfortable whilst she waited for the others to arrive.

Maia looked down at her hand as she took her pulse. This was surreal, she decided. She had not figured that she would actually find someone, but she had hoped.
"Yes. I am very warm and very hungry," she said softly and looked down at herself in the oversized bed.

Azriel sent word as soon as he saw Sol on his front step. Industry had seemed rather keen to speak with the girl he had found the day before, and he guessed that Sol's presence had something to do with her. Making his way as fast as he possibly could to Talia's clinic, he stepped inside and paused a moment as he glanced around.

"Talia?"

"I'm in the kitchen."
Talia called out, stirring the big pot of stew she always had on the go. She often sent batches out to neighbours.

Az followed Talia's voice to her kitchen and gave her a warm smile.
"Is everything okay? Is the girl awake?" he asked, glancing over his shoulder and then back to her. "Is she okay?"

"Yes, she is. She says her people need help. She's quite distressed about it." Talia told him as she spooned the hearty stew into a handmade bowl.
"Is Isambard coming too? I think you will need his manpower if she is from the mountains."

Az blinked a little and lifted his brows.
"You don't know where she is from yet?" he asked and looked to the doorway once more. "I sent for Isambard when I found Sol on my doorstep. I wasn't sure if he was interested in this new development, but I figured he would want to know one way or another."

Talia nodded and put the bowl on a tray.
"It's not my job to ask. I have other things to worry about." She smiled, picking up the tray. "I'll introduce you." She had spoken to the girl a little before he had arrived.

"Maia, this is Azriel, he should be able to help you." She said, helping her settle the tray on her lap.

Isambard arrived not long after Azriel as he was summoned. He walked into the home and shop and followed the sound of voices.

Maia looked up from the strange dog she had curled up on the bed beside her. Seeing the man behind Talia, she lifted a pale brow, then shifted to lean back against the wall. Looking down at the food on her lap, her stomach gave a painful twist. The food looked and smelled so good. Her mouth was instantly watering.

"Hello Azriel," she said, keeping her eyes down on her stew as she picked up the spoon.

Az smirked a little as he followed Talia into the room and he watched the girl.
"Hello, Maia, is it? I am very glad to see you looking so much better," he smiled.

Maia glanced up at him as she scooped some stew onto her spoon
"I am glad too."

Isambard stepped into the room and stood at the back, watching them all.
"Where did you come from?" He asked with a warm smile. If her people needed help then he would send it. He had heard of the people who lived in the mountains, they had mined jewels and metals, their metalwork was rumoured to be spectacular.

Maia's sharp eyes shifted to the new body that entered the room. She studied him for a long moment, then looked down into her bowl as she scooped some more stew onto her spoon.
"I came from the west, from the mountains. My people are trapped and dying," she said softly and lifted her eyes back to her audience. "They did not want me to leave them to find help, but I cannot watch their suffering anymore," she replied and sat up a bit straighter. She was not sure why, but this new man felt different to her for some reason. The room felt heavier and fuller somehow. "We are not strong enough to clear the paths on our own anymore."

Isambard looked between the three of them. Well that would not be much of a problem.
"We have manpower." He declared stepping further into the room. "I am Isambard, god of Industry. If you can believe that. We have men that can help your people, help free them. Would you be able to draw a map for us?" He asked, imagining she would be too weak to lead them there.
