Luxor smiled and nodded his head. It was such a simple little look, that other people did without hesitation or effort, but for him it was a profound moment. Smiling out in the open, just because he was hanging out with the right person. She was one of the few who made him feel like there was something worth putting the effort in for.

He was a grump with a metaphorical stick up his butt, at least, and he knew Ys had a right to say such things about him. He did not mind it, and he did not really get mad about things like that any more. People thought much worse about him, after all.

Her words made him feel a little silly, and he blushed a bit, despite himself, though it was near impossible to see. He felt it, though, the heat in his face.

"Zia... I..." he started, wanting to tell her that her words meant a lot more to him than she seemed to realize, and that his feelings for her were not just as allies in this war, though he appreciated that she shared the same need for revenge as he did, and she didn't chastise him for his methods. Beyond that, though, she was a friend to him. More than a friend. When he looked at her he felt like a different person, and he had never felt it before now. It was getting worse and worse now, too.

He couldn't think of the right words to tell her any of that, however, and he ended up just staring at her with a very serious frown on his face for a long moment. Then he looked away, staring down at the ground in defeat.

"I am hoping for a little more coverage in my next outfit," he said, way too long after her comment to make much sense, but failing in saying anything else. Maybe one day he would be able to tell her. But obviously it was not today.

If Zia caught the heat in his cheeks, then her mind made sure it pushed out the notion instantly because there was no conscious acknowledgment of the change in his behavior.

But his severe stare was met with a direct stare back, and for the briefest moment at the end they made eye contact and her complexion gained a warm tinge of red that was from something more than the cold.

And an eyeroll, she also rolled her eyes. "Oh my god, I wasn't serious, don't have an aneurysm. If it bothers you so much I will stop teasing you about your butt."

This was followed by a flippant handwave and an over the top scoff that was hopefully hinted to be in jest.

"Slow your roll, cowboy, you don't even know the limits of your magic yet!" She laughed, but reached up to flick at his face plate, "I'm glad you have a little more protection, though. You can block with your shoulder and your head is good. But you're going to have to watch your rib cage. And one of these day take me to Pluto."

Luxor looked at her helplessly for a moment, though it didn't show on his face. Sometimes he felt trapped in his own mind, feeling things that he could never convey, as if something else had control of his facial muscles. He wanted her to know how much he cared about her, how he was pretty sure he could fall in love with her, but for some reason he could not get the words to appear, and he could not get her to understand him. It was like he was on the wrong end of a two way mirror, and she just was not seeing him for what he really wanted her to see.

Maybe it was better that way, maybe this was a sign of some kind.

"I'm used to the butt jokes," he said at length, relenting and letting his effort to tell her his feelings drop. This was safer territory, anyway. He did not want to risk chasing her off, knowing she had been through a lot recently and not wanting to push that or seem like he was trying to take advantage of it.

"If you want to go to Pluto, I can take you. I haven't been, but I think I know how." The words had come to him when he was sitting on the trapeze at the carnival, in the still of the night. He had not said them, though, and thus had not going to visit his wonder. He knew that was how, because he'd accidentally gone to someone elses when they'd heard the pledge.

Zia could only shrug and grin, looking smug and contented in horrible contrast to what was going on behind Luxor's expression.

She did not want to delve any deeper than this easy friendship they had between them, and while she wasn't so oblivious to miss that he was clearly thinking of something when he stared, she didn't want to ask what it was. The unknown was terrifying, especially when she fully recognized he was precious enough to her his opinion had the potential to hurt.

"Oh god, really? That would be amazing I haven't been to Pluto yet. The farthest out from Earth I've gone is Saturn. Or the Surrounding, maybe, but that's different," She added a bit of a stomp to the ground in the next step in her pace. "It's really unfair, being stuck on this rock, you know. People who have the capability to travel definitely should not waste it."

Especially when people who were not confined to one planet seemed to be uninterested and disdainful of their freedom to leave. Zia hated having memories of a vast, living universe at her fingertips when the reality was she was one person in one microscopic cage who needed to rely on charity to explore the outside.

Luxor was not the type to ask questions, and though he had not seen much of space, he did not ask anything about the things she had seen or the magic she had experienced. He would learn about it all in time, and he was patient enough to wait for it. At least, now he was. His whole world had change when he became a knight, even his personality. Well. A little bit.

He was opening up a bit more, after all. To her alone, but still. It counted.

"I would very much like to take you to Pluto, then. We can go any time. Hopefully there is something there for you to see."

He had never been there, so what might be waiting for them was a mystery to him. He was assuming there would not be much, maybe some sand and a pyramid, if his costume was anything to go by. He hoped she would like it, though. If he couldn't tell her how he felt, he could at least show her something she wanted to see, and hopefully impress her that way. But it was all up to fate, and just going by what the forces behind the White Moon had given him to wear, he was not optimistic.

"There's always something to see," Apparently Zia had enough optimism for the both of them. "The last time I went to a wonder, their ancestor had known my ancestor. That ******** blew my mind! Before that I found writing and glyphs and stuff on another wonder. And on my brother's wonder, I got this," She held up her hand with the stone ring on it, with the knots carved into the band.

She spun on her heel and whirled around in front of him, ceasing the easy walking pace.

"Do you think you're reincarnated? Or a descendent? You're second stage, you'll probably get a memory," She was gushing again, and she was aware she was gushing and being a little too transparent about living vicariously through him and other knights, but it was hard to contain.

She made an attempt to grab his hands with hers, but after a bit of ungraceful flailing, just ended up grabbing one hand both of hers. "I can't stay out any later, I have a class tomorrow morning but--! We should definitely make a date because you're not going to get away with not taking me."

Not like Troy. But she'd deal with him later. Or at least whine a lot about how he didn't call her.

The fact she was back in school and dabbling in DCU's fall semester was something of a secret, but she freely mentioned it in passing with him. It had come up when she was crashing with him for a week anyway. There were a lot of weird feelings tied up in it, like how it was the first thing she had dropped when Helen hijacked her for Zirconia's host and then picked up again in a chance to return to normalcy. There was also the part where she was embarrassed to be so old and finishing her degree, and then tempered with bitterness that she fit right in at college.

Constant reminder that she was a timeless, unaging space being and not human, and that kind of bites sometimes.

Either way, it was a casual little secret, but a reason why she couldn't go running around his wonder all night like she very, very desperately wanted to. The way she was clinging to his hand and the look in her eye probably more than gave away the fact she was second guessing this very responsible decision not to go wonder hunting right this second.

"Next weekend... We could spend a few hours looking around, maybe?" She asked, squeezing his hand a little in way too much excitement. "Promise?"

Luxor watched her for a long moment, frowning at her thoughtfully, trying to understand what she was asking him. He had gone to another wonder and seen a ghost there, which he assumed was the other knight's ancestor, if he was following her words correctly. He had no idea what he would find, though, or if they were capable of knowing before they went.

He was glad to take her to discover all of this though. Not just because she seemed to know what was going on, but because she made him feel calm, and he wanted to share his history with her. He couldn't think of a better person to take, really.

Not that he'd want to.

"A date," he said, nodding his head blandly, though inside, he was flipping out like a grade schooler. That word still seemed to hold sway over him, though he knew what she meant by it. He even smiled slightly and nodded his head. "School comes first. Next weekend would be good." He had a schedule that, while constantly busy, was very flexible. It was what came with being the boss, he supposed.

And maybe he would bring her a gift or some flowers.
