-------------------- Another important change is that Serole occasionally phases into Gaia, but is only visible on very hazy/foggy days. So far, planes and the like have crashed or went missing when approaching the space the island would otherwise occupy. Supernatural storms and other odd shenanigans sometimes follow its appearance near land. So far, this has only happened twice within the past 400 years.
You may or may not want some worldbuilding regarding the island, and I'll do it but not post it here as it would be waaaaay too much. I'll keep it in a text file and reference anything relevant if it comes up in-story or in OOC questions.

Why does it phase into Gaia?
The plane of floating islands that I refer to is composed of islands that have once risen from the grounds of other worlds. Serole and a few other islands rose from Gaia ages ago. Other islands had come from other planets or rarely other planes. The islands all float at the same horizontal level, like jigsaw pieces waiting in place, and some are even interconnected by short bridges (where rivers would have been).
The purpose is gathering populations and landmasses to eventually replace the destroyed world below, and rebuilding a pantheon of deities.
Every island makes some reference to an 'ascension'. It's a subtle competition between deities of the islands to see who gets to become the 'top' one when the world is remade.
However, it's not done yet and the islands aren't bonded to each other, so they sometimes phase back into their 'home world'

You did ask a pretty important question, so you got an answer explaining the core of it.

Have a rather long summary of the revised backstory of Sabe and Maerua:
So is this just all the information that you're going to retcon for the new thread? Or are these plot points that will be coming up soon? I'm guessing the group of men waffle was with in the forest were the knights she joins with? Maybe? Or.. I dunno, I could be misinterpreting all of this. Anyway, would you like me to do something similar and get Koij's backstory hammered out?
Nope, it's a full retcon of their backstory, not including the interactions with the rest of the gang. That's left intentionally blank.
The knights Waffle met up are indeed part of the Order, but not the part that she can join; they're a paramilitary branch of local heroes, and women are barred from it (in Serole, women are primarily homemakers. There isn't any law saying that women are barred from work or military service, but in practice most refuse to give them any necessary contracts to sign to get said jobs).
In any other circumstances she'd be forced to stay in the commune as a regular follower for good, but Edel (the goddess who manages the Order, and has a physical presence) decides to have her fill in for a cleric that went batshit bonkers and had to be taken out (this cleric is also who was behind the assassination attempt at Waffle and Sabe's wedding). The cleric's job had been to represent the concept of mercy, so Edel figures it's a good karmic punishment to give her the job, take away her elemental blasty-kill-things powers and (for now) replace them with utility things like creating water out of thin air, making things shine brightly, or magically mending broken/ripped things -- stuff that can't be directly used to harm.
On Koji's backstory: If you plan to refer to it in the plot or make it a plot point, then yes, but it doesn't have to be as detailed as mine (unless you want to try that). Otherwise, it's only for sating curiosity.
I'm more interested in how the characters know each other and have interacted in the past as a group, but that has to wait until everyone posts their character revisions/retcons.

when you put it like that, it sounds very appealing... also, I miss Guiles. would be great to reintroduce him.
There's also a shitload of floorplans of hotels posted online. I won't even have to most of the footwork to make a map, only mirror/link to one and reinterpret it, or trace and then take some artistic liberty with it.
Angelo has a chef character mule that he wanted to do something with. It would be perfect...
I Sinistro I
Ya hear that? wink
The part-time working for the hotel thing will definitely be an adjustment, but it does give us something to work with and can lead to some major shenanigans.
(Yes, its oddly similar to that one Disney Channel show that I don't remember the name of, but you have to admit that the show had a good premise. It just sucked because the characters were annoying as s**t and the writing wasn't that great.)

Omg! Finally! XD I can use him for something! [Dances]
Sorry I've been offline this week. . . Kinda got some issues that I'm working on.
☠ ☠". .No the beasts, they won't get near us- And we're not scared of You."☠ ☠
You can also very easily include other characters you have that don't see the spotlight very often. On another note, what do you think of these ideas so far?
Offline: That's okay. Vent away in the chat thread or over Skype if need be.

Gaia has their own rendition of orcs, you know. They don't get much love though; they only appeared briefly in the Rejected Olympics comic for Aekea.

Actually, I don't remember at all. *shrugs* Glad they're not the vomit-looking ones from the movies.
And I was really hoping my notification was from a girl I've been waiting on for a RP response. It's been a week, and there is much romance that needs to happen between our characters.gonk
