((Cubs again! Matope and Sehani, timeline-wise, aren't around atm :3.))
The chocolate cub, too, had gone to see what had 'swallowed' his little brother, but then momma saved him...nothing to worry about anymore! With a small squeak, he gave a little skip and kept on under his mother's watchful eye, walking just ahead of her. Now and then he'd wander over to one sibling or another as though to check on them or just to say 'hello' with a mewl or a headbutt.
But then came the bridge to the island, and after a moment of standing before it, considering the strip of land and the island it led to...and two more big lions!...he struck out across it, determined to go and see the big, floofy brown one -- brown like him! How funny.

The little cub sniffed as her mother rescued her brothers, then gave what could only be assumed as a scolding look to the mud that'd tried to eat her brothers. Watching that her brothers were okay, the little girl padded to the very edge of the sticky stuff, and tapped her paw into it, then brought it back for inspection. Her nose wrinkled in a rather adorable fashion, and she stick her pink little tongue out to taste it. Well now that hadn't tasted so good after all! Her head shook as she tried to rid her tongue of the dirty taste.
Shepherded by her mother, the cub only turned back to give a last little frown to the mud 'monster' before tumbling off after her siblings. It wasn't long before they came upon the little land bridge that led to a whole new world for them. As her chocolatey brother greeted her, safe from the mud monster, she nuzzled him back, taking the chance to n** at a nearby appendage of his. Her eyes turned to the other side of the land strip, to gaze upon the others like her mother that sat there. Evergreen eyes widened at the sight of them. So there were OTHERS?! Her curiosity was also piqued, and she stepped up on the strip, trotting across without a second thought.

Still somewhat shaken by his encounter with the sticky brown stuff--it had tried to eat him!--the smallest cub's heart fluttered rapidly, and he hesitated another moment, pink tongue lolling out of his mouth as he breathed heavily. Slowly, he recovered some measure of his breath, and shuffled forward, wondering how his siblings could skip ahead so quickly without looking like they were going to keel over!
As he caught up to his mother, a nearby...object caught his attention. Sidling over to it, he looked up...IT WAS HUGE, and had a massive brown...thing that came up from the ground, and extended way above his head. And on it were little things that moved! Although the urge to lick one of them up to see what they tasted like was there, the small cub refrained, courtesy of that same niggling sense of...something, that told him that they too, had a purpose, and wouldn't appreciate his disturbance. Reluctantly, he turned back, giving a little hop as he made his way back to his mother's side.
Although his sides were, once again, expanding and contracting rapidly, he continued onward, stirred by another vague sense of importance. Before them was a small strip of land, barely wide enough for a cub to make its way across...and at the end were...others. Others who looked like mother. And yet one, in particular, stood out. At the end of the narrow path waited a large, LARGE one, half-covered in fluffy hair. The sense of familiarity that radiated from the unknown being was comforting to the small, light-colored cub, and so he followed after his pale sister, a slightly unfocused look in his eyes.

The squeaks from her siblings weren't something she was unfamiliar to, but as she looked back she saw something that was. The ground... a squigy-looking sort of ground was trying to eat one of her brothers! Her eyes widened, stunned that the very earth they walked on might try to devour them! But her fears were quashed quickly when her mother pulled the trapped cub free. She didn't seem in the least bit concerned, more amused than anything else. Obviously the hungry mud was nothing to worry about and the eldest female cub scolded herself for being so alarmed. Silly mud.
Turning back to the direction they were headed she continued on once everyone was accounted for and moving again. She held her head and tail high, fascinated by everything and feeling confident that no puddle would try to eat her.
Until that is they came to the island... that was a very big puddle they had to cross! She paused only a second though, before realising three of her siblings had begun to cross on the narrow length of firm land. Well she had to go meet these big-as-mother sized lions too! With that she bounded after them, tail whipping excitedly behind her.

The little brown cub squeaked when his mother nudged him away, surprised that she just seemed to sweep in and rescue everyone. Happy that everything seemed under control again, the little white-tuffed cub made his way with his sibilings to the little strip of dirt that they seemingly had to cross. Well...it looked okay. As long as Mother was there for them, everything must be okay! He had just begun to cross the little bridge when he noticed the others on the other side. Wow! They sure were big. One bigger then Mother! This might be something fun to do, but only if Mother came with them. Staring at the adults that were on the other side, he realised that he was the last one to cross, and he'd better keep up, or Mother might have to come get him, which could be embarassing. He did his best to move fast across the little bridge, but being a very young cub limited his speed and footwork, thus he certainly scrambled more then needed.

Asali emerged from the water as the last of the cubs scrambled across the land bridge, pulling herself up onto the island. She didn't bother to shake off the water, content to just let herself drip. Her tail moved behind her as it always did, though, swishing back and forth and flicking water this was and that.
With a small smile for Jabali, touched with pride, her attention shifted back to the cubs. She put herself in front of them for a moment, between them and the other adults, her silent way of encouraging her young ones to 'stop here.' Then she moved behind them, facing Jabali and Kikwaida. If one were to decide to get out of line, she'd simply reach out a paw to bring them back into place.
Starting at the left of the haphazard little line, she gently pushed the cub at that end forward with her paw - it was the paler of the two girls, with the sun on her hip. "Nyasi," she pronounced. Little wild thing of the swamp, grow tall - but not too rigid.
Next, she pushed forward the brown cub with her swirl on his shoulder. "Nyoe." Such a busy little hopper, you are...but do not forget to tend to yourself as well as others.
Now pushed forward from the middle of the line was the smallest, the white male. "Mng'aro." May you see only brightly, my son.
And then, the creamy daughter. "Johari." Such a precious heart behind those jewel eyes of yours - keep it safe.
The last, the white-tufted male. "Juu." Should you find the heights you seek, do be careful not to fall.
Names given, the Queen shut her eyes and threw her head back. And she roared, shaking the silence with three great bursts. It was done.
As the sound faded, she opened her eyes, and favored her consort with a wink...before batting him playfully on the nose with one very wet paw, a lighthearted grin spreading across her maw. "Hello again, Jabali."
Perhaps, as their mother had roared, the cubs would have seen a fleeting image behind the adults they faced, a lioness whose green wings flared out to the sides of her brown body, and whose blue eyes danced with quiet merriment as she gave them a slow wink. When Asali'jua roared for the last time, the figure vanished again from sight.
((That about does it, unless any of y'all wanna keep on with them getting acquainted or whatever. But I'd say it's finally safe to get to playing them however/whenever, now that the official-type stuff is through. heart ))
