No one could have ever said that one word, and meant it more than Jordan did, at that moment. Robert knew this, and reached out to pull him into a bone crushing hug in response. He wished he could have asked Jordan for some kind of advice. He wished someone, anyone, could have had answers. But he'd already found his answer; and followed through with it. This was his life now. It wasn't easy. But it was his, and he would never stop moving forward. "Thank you, Jordan." He settled for that, muttering it quietly against his friend. This was what Jordan could give him, and at the moment, it was needed, too.

Jordan nodded and patted Robert's back wordlessly. There wasn't much that he could say, nor was there much that needed to be said. He knew what had happened now, and all he could really offer Robert was some company and the reassurance that he still had friends, that he wasn't going to be shunned. That Jordan still had his back. He could do that.

Robert cried his giant ape-like heart out. But when he was done, he pulled away, and rubbed his eyes with tight fists. He'd cried a lot in the past few days, but crying in the arms of his best friend felt like it accomplished something. It made him feel better, when it was all over. That was embarrassing, and he didn't admit it, but at least he was laughing again. "Thanks for the drink." He chuckled out in embarrassment. "It's damn good."

"I swiped some of the good stuff for you," Jordan nodded. He wouldn't say anything about the crying. It had been sorely needed, and now they wouldn't speak of it again; it wasn't necessary, and Robert was pulling his pride back together now, patchily, a piece at a time. "Got a half bottle left. You can swing by if you want that sometime."

Robert's lower lip wibbled. Jordan was going to make him cry all over again. "I will totally take you up on that, boss." He chuckled out, flopping back on the bed and staring up at the ceiling. "As soon as I'm sure being drunk won't end up in doing something I'll regret for the rest of my life." Considering the things he'd done while sober.. it was a fair worry.

"I hear you," Jordan replied with a small, wry smile. It was a legitimate concern. Drunken stupidity, while enjoyable in some moods, could be disastrous in others. "We ought to spar again sometime," he said after a moment, thinking about it. It had been quite some time.

He took a minute to think about the last spar he had, and the results of it. Considering the company he kept, he kept his lips thin as he responded. "So, I'll take you up on that too.. when I feel like I won't be doing anything stupid there either." Alcohol, spars, dangerous missions.. Robert knew to stay away from these for a while.

Jordan nodded. The conversation was a minefield; any conversation would be for a while, probably. He could choose his words as carefully as possible and still end up invoking some painful memory, entirely by accident. "Have you eaten anything today?" he said instead.

Robert perked at the question. It was a good one - the man usually ate like a horse. "No." And the moment he was reminded of his mistake, his stomach roared audibly. He put one hand to it, and grimaced. "I guess I lost track of time, down here. It's always dark. Too easy to forget that you gotta do more than sleep, go to work, sleep." He wanted food. But he wanted it that very second, and suddenly Jordan looked like a sandwich. He bit his lip. "I should eat."

"C'mon, man. Let's head up to the cafeteria. I'm sure we can find something decent if we check the kitchens." Jordan got up and turned to wait for Robert, clearly intending to shepherd his friend. He might not be able to pick Robert up and haul him off, but he was perfectly willing to wait till Robert followed him.

Robert's face broke out into a slow, goofy, but grateful grin, as he looked up at his persistent friend. He hopped off the bed and was herded just as easily as that. "Anything you say, boss." He answered, wrapping one arm around Jordan's shoulder and closing his door behind him as they walked away. "Anything you say."
