Exodus frowned...she could tell that simply by looking at him? He wouldn't lie...he lost a few people, and it wasn't like he ever had much to begin with, but...everyone grieved in their own way. Eventually, however, they would all have to let go. "Corporal Cahune." Exodus stated in a clear and firm tone as he stood up. "I would gladly drink you under the table this evening." It was strange that he would say such a thing with a clearly straight face, but he meant what he said when he spoke to Aster. If she was in so much pain that she absolutely had to drink here, then Exodus would opt to join her...to share her pain when nobody else would. Not as a subordinate, but as somebody concerned about her well-being.
He understood the pain of loss, and more than understood that she'd have her reasons for wanting to drink when she had time alone. When you were alone, it was far too often that pain would creep up and remind you of just how powerless you were when you were needed by somebody who trusted or loved you. He and Aster were a bit similar in that regard, so he didn't really mind the way she acted all that much. It was off-putting because of his generally reserved and calm nature...he wouldn't say he meshed with Aster, but they complimented each other at the very least.

Aster did not want sympathy . Although she did not know truly what she wanted, as a smile braved her face she wondered what stories Vincent had to tell " for what reason have you to drink with me what do you gain in it? did you not express earlier that it were inappropriate for me to drink like this.. now it is i who find you confusing.." a blush on her cheeks showing her embarrassment but also flattery, Vincent, someone whom barely knew her would choose to give compassion and understanding where others had failed. But then Vincent was different, her stomach seemed to feel as if she had dined on butterflies, he had not deliberately sought her out in trying to woo her for promotion or favoritism, ooh no on the contrary this man had a genuine air to him and from his eyes she could see his concern. With a click of her fingers the tender rolled his eyes and poured shot glasses of clear strong smelling alcohol, there were 12 in total looking at him and looking and thinking " i am off duty .. so please call me Asterid...for once i want to dis guard my rank and live freely as just another bystander even if but a few hours.. could you treat me as your equal?" she asked her eyes staring deep at him although one being blind turned crooked and seemed to stare off behind him. Those eyes of hers stared contently as she took up a glass and handed it to him, " i pray you are no light weight .. also i hope my weight does not hinder you should i be the one under the table.." again there was that blush as she tried desperately to conduct herself.
Conduct was something that was failed in this situation, and she found herself unable to prevent an attraction, but how could she prove that what she felt was not the drink talking? the blushing did not seem to fade. ++ † ++

Edward "Edge" Morrison "The path to heaven is often lead through hell..." Muramasa: The Cursed Swordsman "The path of the sword is similar..." ↳I can keep fighting...can you? [Condition: Green]↳You will not surpass me! [Current Weapon: Long Sword]↳You will know your master, like it or not! [Rank: Corporal]↳Listen to the song of my soul... [Calm: Reminder]"If your path ends up leading you through hell..." Off in the corner, a lone man appeared to have been watching the entire exchange, but he didn't make a move towards the pair until he'd observed more than enough. "Do you really think that's a good idea...? Or are you just a glutton for punishment?" The voice that spoke was tonally similar to Exodus', but much rougher, and much more aggressive in tone. Edge left his corner and walked over to the pair, grabbing Exodus by the collar of his shirt and lifting him off his seat. "You should know well enough the penalty for fraternizing with your commanding officer. If you were seeking good favor from her simply to boost yourself up the ranks, I warn you, I will not tolerate it. Leave!" Exodus was just in shock staring at his father...he knew this man well enough to know that he was serious. He silently slunk out of the bar, and Edge turned his sharp gaze to Aster. "Stand in attention, Corporal. You are not without fault."
Despite his tone, he was completely calm...although everybody around him would've thought he exploded. "For being a Corporal, you know full well the dangers of dealing with somebody who ranks lower than you. Words are a powerful blade, and can easily cause discord between you, him, and the rest of the upper echelon of command. Further, your behavior has been reprehensible since you engaged him in conversation...seeing as you're off-duty, there's nothing much I can say about it. I'm here to warn you, however, to watch how you conduct yourself in a public place." Edge crossed his arms behind his back, deciding to leave that comment there since she was, after all, not on call.
Since coming back to the military, Edge had been twice the task-master he was before leaving. Unlike Exodus, who had an underlying gentleness, but lack of experience in his face...Edge's expressions were always rougher, but he had been refined to a point where there was almost no point in comparing him with his son. "Stand up straight, count how many fingers I'm holding up." How drunk was she anyway? She couldn't have taken in all that much alcohol in such a short amount of time, right?
"Then it's only fitting you keep fighting until you find true nirvana..."

Aster was shocked to see someone familiar to her. Her one good eye cocked its glance at Edge, how dare he treat that boy that way when all the child was doing was that of a gent, " Should you of been watching Corporal Sir, you would have seen that it was i whom led him astray..Sir...be not harsh upon the cadet Sir" there was quite the emphasis to the word sir. In fact it would appear she was lecturing him as she stood straight, " there is some things you will never learn i guess that is why My Belated husband surpassed your advances, sadly no fault of my own carelessness" she looked at him. " and what is your reasons to torment me so? Edward.. hmm?" she had learnt his name through training and unlike herself had advanced quicker, the old cadet days were not the things she wanted to remember however it seemed this man enjoyed in picking fault with her even on her day off !, somehow she could not even take a piss without him knowing. " why can't you just chill your concern and drink with me since you scared off my company i think it is far that you compensate me for the inconveniance of disturbing me uhn? do you not think EDDIE"

[Condition: Green]↳You will not surpass me! [Current Weapon: Long Sword]↳You will know your master, like it or not! [Rank: Corporal]↳Listen to the song of my soul... [Calm: Reminder]"If your path ends up leading you through hell..." Edge considered her words, of course, but Vincent was his son before he was a soldier...and as such, he expected better from him. His head tilted slightly to the side as he caught the underlying irritation from her words. Be that as it may, he was doing this for her own good. His eyes narrowed when she called him by not only his real name, but a variation of it as well. "Don't call me by either of those names ever again." Edge glanced over at the glass Vincent had been holding and mentally sighed, downing it as if it were water. "Fine...I will compensate you thusly since this is of no fault but my own." The constant scowl on his face seemed to deepen...he was never a fan of drink, and he wasn't going to pretend like he was one now.
He crossed his arms, shaking his head as the aftertaste hit him a lot like a brick would. "As for him...it doesn't exactly matter how he's treated. The one thing I've been telling him for years that he lacked the required discipline. He'll learn if he hears it enough times. He's my son, after all." Edge shrugged, knowing full well that Vincent needed a firm hand to guide him if he was going to survive...being 'soft' wasn't going to keep him breathing. Even after all those years ago, Edge hadn't learned how to properly treat Vincent, and it was clear that his anger was beginning to be directed at Vincent more frequently. Aster knew him well enough to know that when it came to Vincent, Edge was hardest on him, and generally gave him no rest.
"...Why'd you even bring that up? Leave the past where it falls." He said that knowing full well that he'd been pushing his past on to Vincent forever...treating him similarly to the way he treated his own brother when he was just a kid. "I don't think I can even remember back that far. Those years are...fuzzy." Liar. Edge wasn't normally a liar, but he'd rather forget when he was just starting out and didn't understand anything. Aster was clever for trapping him without being prepared...she had more than enough information about when they were a bit younger to hold over his head, all while using his interruption to keep him from leaving. Edge was ashamed for falling for that...just like back then.

Aster shot Edward a look of disdain as he said how it did not matter how he treated his son. That sickened Aster, in fact it angered her to boiling point, especially when she had a bad upbringing " So it is okay to destroy your son in such a barbaric way , you do know that respect begets respect right? and violence begets violence... and so forth so you should be careful how you treat him, because one day hes going to get taller and buffed to the gills and you will be laying in a box in pieces and he will be coated in your blood..Sir Corporal or whatever you call yourself these days, were we not but friends? or do you look upon me with disdain for what visage i have been left with..?.. leave the past where it falls.. yes i remember you fell quite well head first into my lap .. the first time i egged you to drink with me...they should be fuzzy.." she said taking a drink and downing it like water and handing him another drink, "you had the senses knocked out of you more than once by Ulf..i often look back and thought i could of saved myself a lot of heart ache if i had accepted you.. but my pride took over...you had picked the worst of times...with a son on the way...but please for me do not let the sins of your parents haunt this poor boy.. cherish him , protect him and give him everything your parents failed.. hmm it seems i have grown some in my older years.." she gave a light chuckle and edged another few drinks his way. " Come on drink up! you have many more shots to catch up on..oh yes the total number of fingers was two ..." ++ † ++

[Condition: Green]↳You will not surpass me! [Current Weapon: Long Sword]↳You will know your master, like it or not! [Rank: Corporal]↳Listen to the song of my soul... [Calm: Reminder]"If your path ends up leading you through hell..." "He is not destroyed. I'd prefer it if he grew to hate me...the less people he considers protecting, the better his chances of living a longer life. I wouldn't let him sacrifice himself, but...it seems I'm already failing at that with him wanting to join the Scouting Legion. And I go by Edge now." Edward found the name fitting considering his skill with a blade...he wasn't the same recruit he was back when he started. He'd mastered the art of war, just like he said he would. Edge looked at the ceiling, knowing full well that he remembered every event of the past, excluding a few that may or may not have happened. However, when Aster mentioned 'drink' and 'lap' in the same sentence, he glared down at her, knowing that was one of his more...unforgettable moments. Heaven knew he wished he could forget.
"I vaugely remember a soft pillow that may or may not have been you. You have no proof that happened." Edge found himself crossing his arms in frustration...from that day forth he swore off drinking so he wouldn't end up embarrassed like that again. As he accepted the second drink, Aster brought up more memories from long ago. "I remember full well those events. I don't blame you at all though...I was far from ideal back then. I'm surprised I even survived long enough to end up like this after seeing how mediocre I was back then compared to now." Edge often didn't find himself believing that he was still alive when a friend from his younger days had long since passed. He was better than Edge back then...but somehow Edge was the one who survived to this point, and not only that, he'd improved constantly since then.
Edge seemed surprised that she knew how many fingers he was holding up when she asked...but from a mile away he could've told that her breath smelled like alcohol. "Catch up on...? If you plan to kill me like this, I warn you, it won't work." He'd improved on every trait but this one...it was something that was still just a bit beyond him. "Heh...if you've grown at all, it's been a very minor one." Edge stated, partaking of the alcohol with a...less than enthusiastic look on his face.
"Then it's only fitting you keep fighting until you find true nirvana..."

Aster gave a charming smirk. Running her octaves through her hair to itch at her scar, she took a light sigh " i cannot help that they did not grow any bigger..are they not ample pillows?" she pouted hinting at her breasts..gah your such a prude.. stop being so stuck up.. relax chill your with me.. and we may not get another chance like this to bond " she looked up at him with a puppy eye. she moved to lean against him, " you know your son doesn't look like you..you pride yourself on discipline and conduct yourself..you conduct yourself..." she could not think of her words stuck just looking at him " what did they do to you...your clean shaven and well dressed .. and abide by rules ..so i have a question would you fraternize with me or are you afraid you would loose someone else?" ++ † ++

[Condition: Green]↳You will not surpass me! [Current Weapon: Long Sword]↳You will know your master, like it or not! [Rank: Corporal]↳Listen to the song of my soul... [Calm: Reminder]"If your path ends up leading you through hell..." Edge shook his head, she did love that certain attitude...it made him question her dedication to the cause, but time and again she proved that she was more than willing to focus on her goal. "Bonding, huh?" Yet he already knew everything there was to know...he considered her a dear friend, and didn't feel very unfulfilled when he spoke to her. Edge tensed up as she leaned on him, but quickly relaxed as he answered her question. "Ah...my friend. It doesn't matter if I talk to you or not...if you were to die I would be hurt regardless of how I conduct myself. I was given one more chance to assist humanity by defending the cities, so I had to at least show that I'd grown." Edge leaned down to kiss her forehead, but even after, his fierce expression still remained. "Associating with me would be bad for your health. I seem to get people killed often."
Edge's growth seemed to be the most, as he was no longer a bright-eyed recruit who thought he could take on the world. He had matured considerably, and with that came the strength needed to kill a Titan as he was expected to do. "To answer your question, I'm not afraid of losing you because I already know the outcome." Edge shrugged, knowing that there would never really be a such thing as a decisive victory. "But why talk about that? You came here with the intent to relax, yes?"
"Then it's only fitting you keep fighting until you find true nirvana..."

" You and i both have loved and lost Edge..people die around us all the time.. it is true.. bad for my health you are no more bad for my health than the intoxication and exuberance of this fine alcohol we are consuming.." Said Aster Looking at him, a blush having been placed with a kiss to her forehead.
" talking to you is relaxing.. and i am flattered that there is still one to mourn me, but why would you mourn me when all i appeared to give you is grief?.. honestly why is it that you are so stoic.. how can i relax around that...your about as stiff as a piece of stale bread...but like bread i hope to make you crumble and that mask you conceal yourself crack.." she said poking him and moving away, if he wanted to persue her he could bring her back, she seemed to be testing him all the time, perhaps the past was forgotten?. ++ † ++

Edge contemplated her question before answering Aster. "As I said, you are a dear friend of mine. Your death would cause me more grief than you ever could." Edge wrapped his arm around Aster's waist and pulled her closer, a smile crossing his face that was akin to when he was younger. Despite his new refinement, he wasn't completely at odds with his old self. "It's not a mask everybody can take off whenever they want. However..." There was always a 'but' when it came to things like this. "I can see the past well enough, and what happened then. I can also see history repeating itself the same way...you're sweet, Aster, and I love you like I'd love my own...but has anything really changed at all?" That was the million dollar question...could he really count just another meeting here as anything?

Aster stopped sipping her drink. Enraptured by both his words and actions, Aster found herself weak kneed , although she came to her senses when he mentioned history repeating and gave a look of disdain, " things have changed.. we are no longer innocent children and both have obligations towards our duty...you have a son i have..nothing....indeed i envy you .. you had it all and threw it all away.....you push people away too..too wrapped up in the past you do not see what is staring you in the face.. " Aster seemed uncomfortable with the game he appeared to be playing was he toying with her feelings?..If so she would not have any of it.
" How dare you.. how dare you embrace me like this.. how can you stand there so so--so without compassion to compare me like family..You had a son...is this why he angers you so?...Sweet i will give you sweet you Baka!" He had her where hew wanted her and her tears flowed as she squirmed to run from defeat " let go of me..i changed.... i changed Edge i became a woman.. i became a wife ....but that's as far as it went...You had a son.you loved me but you had a son...please stop toying with my heart like this.." she hit and his chest in frustration till she had no fight left.

[Thought: Afterglow]"If your path ends up leading you through hell..." Edge frowned at her words, knowing full well that 'throwing away' wasn't the proper term for what he had done. "I can see clearly what's in front of me. As far as Vincent goes...maybe it wouldn't hurt to treat him as a person, but do you know how painful it is to look at his face and only see my brother in him? Do you know how it felt for me to lose my first son or wife, and only have Vincent left as a reminder? I don't hate him...far from it, but my own memories have long since been embedded in the way I've treated him as a man. I'm hard on him because I'm obligated to insure mankind survives as a species...if I push him hard enough he'll surpass me one day, and perhaps even kill me...but that's what I want from him. To break every single chain that's holding him back...in the end, he'll be much stronger for it. It breaks my heart as a father to feel this way towards my own son, but it's all I know how to do...all I can do."
Edge sighed, letting Aster strike him as much as she wished...by time she was done he let her go. "We both had to go our seperate ways some time...I'm clinging to what's left of my past, and it's turning to dust in my hands. I can very well see it won't be long now before nothing is left...in the end, all that I really have is Vincent. If I lose him, or if I lose you...all I've got is the protocol. The discipline I've accepted over the years keeps me from at least acting like I'm losing the more important things to me. If that's what you wanted to hear, then there you are...I didn't intend to distress you with just those words."

Aster begun to laugh as the alcohol hit hard. After her third bout of laughter and as she stepped towards the door she reached out, grabbing nothing but air, her body fell forwards like a toppling tree. Everything appeared to go in slow motion as if her life was passing her by or if she had partaken on some type of medicinal herb " Woooaaaa" she said as there was a sudden smack to her head as she hit the ground with a whomp sound. She was out, like a light, she was out and away with the fairies, Aster was sleeping. In fact she was snoring like a buzz saw, whist her body thought she was swimming in a stream and in her dreamlike state she was calling for Edge to kiss her, this was not in any way the way for a Corporal to act.

[Condition: Green]↳You will not surpass me! [Current Weapon: Long Sword]↳You will know your master, like it or not! [Rank: Corporal]↳Listen to the song of my soul... [Thought: Afterglow]"If your path ends up leading you through hell..." Edge tilted his head to the side...Aster was behaving oddly. He seemed surprised when Aster fell to the ground...it didn't seem as though she were knocked out, however, as she was snoring just fine and seemed to be dreaming as well. Edge couldn't help but chuckle. "The more things change, the more they stay the same." Edge crouched down next to her, flipping her so her face wasn't facing the ground. She hit the ground hard, but he didn't see an outstanding injury...she was lucky since that fall could've very well killed her.
Part of him wondered if a bucket of cold water would be enough of a quick fix, but he decided against it. Aster had been both stressed and drunk, so he'd let her sleep it off. For the most part, he ignored what she said in her sleep, but that didn't change the fact that she was actually saying something...apparently he wasn't as forgotten as he'd like to believe. "I guess that's something that hasn't changed about you. You're as unique as ever." Edge spoke in a quiet tone, looking to get Aster off of the floor and somewhere at least a little bit more comfortable. He placed his hand under her head and raised her up just a bit. "Aster, come on." His speech sounded a bit urgent, despite him knowing she was okay.
When he noted that she wasn't responding at all, he picked her up and walked through the door, silently thinking about his options. He never asked Aster where she lived after she got married, so his only real option was...well, his own house. Though, he wouldn't call that very comfortable at all. As they arrived at their destination, he had to break the door quietly since most of his family was still asleep. He set Aster on a bed and sighed; she had gotten herself in to a grand mess with all of this. For a brief moment, Edge remembered when he first walked Aster through the oriental home that was his family's. With the way the house was designed, it was easy to see a bit of old-fashionedness in the way he and his family lived since their home was decorated in things not used since the Orient. He lit a single candle for Aster when she woke up, deciding to lean up against the wall and watch carefully for any changes.
