JJ's eyes narrowed and he fliched his hand, using his magic to smack the back of the boy's head. "one thing you need to learn quickly: it's impossible to lie to a sorcerer, so don't try boy." he took a bite before trying again, "i wouldn't have picked you if you didn't smell of strong magic so i will ask again, what powers have manifested?" if he lied again, he wouldn't be getting away with something as easy as a simple smack.

JJ's temper flared with the denile. he stood up and walked to the boy, staring down at him, "i am in charge of bringing out your magical abilities and training you to replace me when the time comes," he grabbed the back of the boy's hair and pulled, tilting his head to a painful angle, "and you refuse to tell me what, exactly, those abilities are?" he leaned in close, pulling the hair harder, "There are other ways of finding out. painful, horrible ways. would you rather i use those? one-" he placed his free hand on the boy's chest and slowly let it sink into him, feeling for the magic inside, "is for me to dig in deep and search every inch of you for your magical source." he pushed his hand in deeper, already to the second knuckle as he magically forced himself in, "would you prefer that way?"

JJ released the boy's hair and gently pulled his hand out, "visions, huh?" he went back to his dinner as if nothing had happened, "it's a start. very few are granted visions, do you see the future? the past? does it have to do with the people around you or can it be about anything?" he went back to eating, watching the boy as he did so. the more he knew about what had already manifested, the easier it would be to make the rest of his magic come out as well.

JJ took that in, thinking it over and the applications of such an ability as well as training of it for several silent minutes. "you said the visions were increasing when i was searching, what did you see when i touched you?" he wanted to know if the boy saw something from his subconscious or something that was on his mind. though he felt no shame over his past, he knew that it could be held against him if it was found out, he wanted to make sure he didn't just give this boy fuel against him.

JJ nodded, there were many instances in his life where that could have come from. "your father?" he frowned and looked the boy up and down, "who was your father, boy?" had he encountered him before? JJ didn't kill often, only when needed. unfortunately he was needed often, with magic becoming more and more common, more and more people tried to abuse the power given them. it was annoying, he'd rather stay in his lab and research, but that is what the King's Sorcerer was for.

JJ could find out easily enough without the boy telling him. "as you like." he finished eating and went back to work, "you weren't in any danger, i would not kill my apprentice on the first day." he shook his head, annoyed by the boy's emotional outbursts. "be awake and ready in the hallways by 8 tomorrow morning. ring the bell for breakfast when you are read for it. i will take you to the lab and get you started on your training." he turned and looked the boy in the eyes, "try to control your emotions tomorrow, you seem to have some problem with me, but I am your Master now and if you wish to survive these lessons, you will put that past aside. understood?" he went back to his work, "now go to bed and leave me be."

JJ had staid up through the night, having gone to his lab after the boy left and ending up losing track of time. It was common for him, caught up research, he just forgot to sleep. his only indication that it was morning was the maid knocking to inform him that his breakfast was in his room, as usual. he finished what he was doing and washed before going to eat, wondering if the boy would be ready in time or not. he passed the maid from earlier, he really should learn her name, she was the one who came most frequently. he'd scared away the others most likely.

Amy had a tray ready for the boy whenever the bell rang, knowing he'd be up soon. she walked it up as soon as the soft tinkling sounded. Really, she had to admire the Lord Sorcerer for coming up with the concept of pads and bells, it had saved the servants so much time! she hurried up to take the boy his breakfast, knowing he didn't have much time before he would be required. she knocked before entering, smiling at him, "hello again. i've brought your breakfast, where would you like it?"

At exactly 8 o'clock JJ was on his way out the door when there was a soft knock. the boy was on time, if just barely. good. he opened the door and nodded to the boy, "well done." a critical eye ran over him, but he didn't see anything wrong. "follow." he shut his door and lead the boy down the hall to where the lab was. it was in it's own building in case something went wrong, hidden back behind the castle where he would be out of the way."Can you read?" it hadn't been something that had occurred to him until that moment. if the boy couldn't read he would have to have someone else teach him, there was no way JJ would put his entire works on hold just to teach some ignorant farm boy his ABC's
