Mostly its design. Its render makes them look ugly. I dont quite care for the typing. Even though chesnaught could get eatten by a bird in one good attack i like it better than fire fox. Beside no one pulls of fire fox better than ninetails.

Froakie master race.
Jk, but seriosly though, I picked froakie because I figured he'd be a good HM slave(I taught him cut, strength, surf, and waterfall). His final form looks the best of the 3 starters too, in my opinion. Besides, choosing Froakie, I get Fennekin after I beat the game. GG!

I went with Fennekin and Squirtle~
I usually start water, but the bf grabbed Froakie.

I picked Froakie because neither Chespin nor Fennekin appealed to me (not that Froakie appealed to me either at the time). Then when I saw Greninja, that sealed the deal. It worked out even more nicely because I downloaded the special Torchic and then picked Bulbasaur (though I didn't add him to my main team).

Bulbasaur, I haven't played any of the new games. But if it's a grass type I would probably go with it.

I chose Fennekin for Y and Froakie for X. I had planned for Fennekin in Y because Y was the one I wanted to play most but I had a problem deciding for why but Froakie seems to have been a good choice and Delphox is amazing I love it but heck I always choose the fire types sweatdrop Their designs did come to mind when deciding but then I thought its not what they look like its how much butt they can kick well thats my logic anyway whee

I chose Fennekin and Squirtle. I very well may restart my game though. *sigh* Probably go with Froakie and Bulbasaur next time around.

Froakie was my starter for the Kalos region. Decided that when they were first revealed. I've since obtained a Frogadier with the 'Protean' ability. It is pure love with that Greninja now. I loved Greninja so much. Such a great Pokemon! I also ended up choosing Squirtle from the Kanto starters, because Squirtle was my very first exposure to the Pokemon series. I love Squirtle!

I choose Fennekin because it's cute... Lol I won't even lie. I LOVE that it's a fire/psychic type though! Fire is my least favorite type when choosing starters, but I hate frogs, so I didn't choose water type for the first time since I've played Pokemon.
I obviously chose Squirtle from the next starter set in the game. 3nodding

I chose Froakie because it reminded me of the frog/god/things in Windwaker and now that I had a chance to try one out it has insane Sp. Atk. Plus frog ninja. And so I named him Dororo biggrin

I always pick my starters based on the design of their final evolutionary from.
In Kalos I picked Froakie, which is odd considering that I hate frogs irl. This is also the first time since gen 3 that I've actually kept my starter all the way through.
For my 2nd I picked Charmander because Charizard.
