Once the colt got the pooch home he made sure to give him lots of water, his dinner, and even a nice little snack despite his naughty behavior that afternoon. He and Elvis were hanging out in his room, Elvis howling every time Blue practiced a tune. It was amusing actually, sometimes he'd play something to match the sound of the crooning canine. Suddenly his phone rang. Looking down Blue gulped a bit, it was his uncle. What was he going to say? Should he tell him what happened or just act like nothing happened?
"Umm.....heeeeey Uncle PARTY? How was your flight? Did you get delayed? What's your hotel like? Do they have good room service? Are the maids cute?" he suddenly spilled one question right after the other in his nervousness.

"Aww, kiddo, it's sweet of you to ask! Room service is fine, housekeeping is a large Russian man named Yuri who I think might be an actual bear, flight was aces, and the hotel's the tops. But enough about me- how about you? How's taking care of Elvis?" PARTY could hear the dog barking in the background. He hoped his boy had behaved for his nephew!

Blue actually enjoyed his Uncle's answers to his questions. He tried to imagine a big bear in a maid outfit, which was interesting in and of itself. But again the question returned to the dog. He took a breath a bit before answering, "Oh! I-I-It was great! We uh, we enjoyed the park and uh, we uh, you know did stuff and uh.."
Oh gods this was sounding aweful. He knew his Uncle would see through his lie and he hated to think he would try to lie to PARTY. He trusted him to take care of his best friend, Blue hoped when he got a dog his friend would be honest with him if something was wrong. "Um...well...actually. Elvis kinda....got loose. I accidentally dropped the leash and he ran off," the poor colt sounded so defeated. "I searched for him everywhere! I had to get help from a nice filly pegasus, he almost ate a family's sausages."

"Hrm, sorry to hear that. I guess I should have warned you how rambunctious he gets sometimes- if he pulls hard on the leash, it's not always that easy to get him back. Maybe I should have left a dog whistle with you- though to be honest, I don't know how well that would have worked if sausages were on the line." PARTY chewed his lip, thinking about all the times he'd nearly lost his dog when they were first starting to take walks. "Sometimes when dogs are with somebody new, they forget their manners. I should have stuck around a little longer to make sure he was obeying. But at least you got him back, right? That's the important part. I'm glad you found somebody to help you, too- dogs are a great way to meet people, y'know? Thanks for telling me and being honest about it- and thanks for looking after him!" The stallion really wasn't mad- if anything, he was proud of the kid for stepping up and being responsible.

Blue waited for the sound of disappointment in his Uncle's voice, knowing he hadn't done a good job. But PARTY seemed to understand how the situation came about. Once explained he was glad he knew how to better keep Elvis under control. Then again it might require another friend if there were any more sausages. He smiled at the praise he got, which made him feel better. He was glad he was honest too, better than lying and really disappointing his Uncle.
"Yeah she's a real cutie, Uncle PARTY!" he grinned into the phone. "But no problem Uncle, I'll take your advice and try to keep him under better control. Or at least hold onto the leash a lot tighter. But you enjoy your trip! Elvis and I are gonna have some fun. He's a great singer ya know!" he giggled.
Finally after demanding more description of PARTY's hotel room and the bear maid Draft came in to announce lights out. Blue nodded, said goodbye to his uncle, then climbed into bed. He offered the end of his bed to the dog, "I ain't gonna put you in the dog house for being just a hound dog. Lets get some sleep."Scaramouche Fandango One more post from you and we are done I think?

"G'night, kiddo!" said PARTY before hanging up. He chuckled to himself, thinking about his nephew's day- he knew how terrifying it could be to tell the truth to adults when things went wrong. It was a real sign of maturity that Blue told him what had happened right away. He'd been a kid once too, and telling the truth had always seemed so scary at first. Hopefully Blue wouldn't have any more trouble- but if he did, PARTY was sure that his nephew would make the right decisions.
