Ankou was of course smart, at the hint of bait in his words Isidore sat up on his knees, curiosity clearly ignited. Not that that took much. "Cold?" He asked. "But you're cold, doesn't that mean you like the cold?" He was cold too, but he liked curling up in the warm with his mother or sisters or Scim. Then again he had never been anywhere really cold to see if he liked it or not.

Much like her siblings, Caelia's curiosity was piqued, and her previous problems completely and utterly forgotten in the light of one of the best things ever - her father's stories.
Now this was a much better thing to be talking about !
"Cold ? Was there snow ?" She had heard about snow, though she had never honestly seen it. The weather around the pantheon tended to stay rather mild unless one headed further north. Some of the people of the market, however, spoke of places that got so cold that the rain froze into something white, cold and fluffy.
Caelia imagined snow to be much like cotton candy.
Hook, bait, and bitten. All he needed was to reel in. He patted his daughter's beak lightly. "It was cold enough that even I felt it." Which meant it was, indeed, cold as all hell. "And there was entirely too much snow, in my opinion." Too much snow, too much cold, way too many bloody undead. That was Icecrown in a nutshell. At least the rest of Northrend was a little less extreme on the cold as hell department.

Kyrie giggled as her father tapped her beak and she settled herself quickly against him. Glancing to her siblings, she tried to picture for a moment the place their father had gone. "What do you mean there was too much snow? What did it look like?" she asked, then shifted again as an exciting thought struck her. "Did you see any strange creatures?" she asked, her eyes glittering with anticipation.

Isidore listened intently. Snow? had they seen snow. He thought he knew what it was from books, and sometimes you could see it on the top of the mountains. It was white and as his father said, cold. "Snow! Can we see snow?" he asked. "Do you think it will snow here one day?" It didn't get very cold so maybe not, but it would be exciting if it did. "Oh yes I want to know about strange creatures."

"I've never seen it snow here. I think the leaves have to turn all sorts of colors and fall from the trees first. That's what Anima told me once. She said it was really pretty, all those colors. I wanna see that one day."
"It was rather desolate. Really dark, really cold. It was more of a problem for the others than it was for me." He'd had to keep that in mind, keep a close eye to make sure no one ended up with frostbite. "We had to get all the way up a citadel to get the bad guy who was hiding on top.
That was the simplified version, at least. He would discuss the undead and the Lich King alone with Isidore, knowing his son was not likely to like such things, body denied funeral rites and souls forced into unrest. Still, there were things he needed to be aware of, if only to know how to counter them.
Be it when he was a little older or sooner was yet to be seen.

Kyrie tilted her head back to watch her father speak. In her mind, she tried desperately to understand everything he was describing. She wanted to know what it meant to be so cold that even her father felt it. She wanted to experience the snow as much as her siblings wished to. The mention of the bad guy caused her eyes to widen. “What was he like Daddy? Was he ugly and cruel?” she asked in a near whisper. In her mind, that was the only way a bad guy could be.

If it snowed then they could make snowmen, he had seen those in books. Isidore's focus was caught once more at the mention of a bad guy, just like his sisters. He could imagine some horrible mean looking ice king at the top of the mountain. Maybe he was like a troll. "Did you smash him?" He asked, he was pretty sure his dad could smash a bad guy, he was really tall and strong and he had Gungnir.

"Of course he totally smashed him, Isi." Duh, honestly ! Daddy could smash all the bad guys. because daddy was clearly the best, and that was what daddy did. Smash the bad people who did bad things to the dead so they wouldn't be scared.
Sadly the Lich King was a bad exemple to try and teach them that not all bad people were ugly and directly cruel, or that sometimes, bad people wore pretty faces to hide what lurked behind that. "Not all bad people are like that, but in this case that is quite accurate. And we all smashed him." Him more directly, but well !

Kyrie's eyes glittered with excitement as their father admitted to smashing the bad guy down, his cautionary warning going completely unrecognized. Such things paled greatly in comparison to the thought of her father bringing some bad guy down to his knees. "I bet he was sorry he ever did anything bad," she declared with a bit of smug satisfaction and she puffed her feathers to emphasize her statement.

Isidore shifted to cross his legs and lean his arms on them. "What do you mean dad?" He asked, looking up at his father with curious eyes. "Not all bad people are like what?" He clearly wanted to know, as interested as he was in his father's tales of smashing bad guys. If there was something to learn then Isidore wanted to learn it.

"Yeah !" Caelia chimed, clearly in agreement with her sister. "Bet he won't do that again." The fact that the lich king was dead - even more than that, destroyed completely - blissfully escaped her. Right now her world was still made of happiness, fluffy things, pretty birds, and death was something that happened... well, elsewhere. Though she did not think of it as something as particularly bad as most mortals saw it. As far as she could tell her daddy took care of everyone and made sure they were happy, so it couldn't be that bad, right ?
Oh, some part of the Lich King was definitively sorry. Bolvar had fought so hard to contain that entity and not let it win, but the man had not had much fight left in him by the time they had made it. "The Lich King was a strange creature. There was a hero here, who did his best to keep him from hurting anyone. And he actually succeeded for a long time, before we came." And now Bolvar was free, the wheel would spin and he would get another chance at life. It was the only comfort he could offer to the man.
"Well..." He started on his explanation, glad that one of them had asked to elaborate. "Not all bad people are ugly. Some are quite pretty. Not all ugly people are bad, also. And what's ugly to you is pretty to someone else. Everyone is a little different, and what is outside does not always represent how they are inside." After all, there were indeed some mortals who feared him for what he represented. Not many of them liked to think of death, and he lacked the charisma that both his son and Akakios possessed to try and bridge down the gap some.
"Sometimes people simply get scared of what they do not understand."

Kyrie looked to her brother as their father began to answer him. She wanted to hear a little more about how they had brought the bad guy down. But as she listened to her father, her curiosity began to pique. Tilting her head a little, she tried to picture what he was speaking of. So pretty people could be bad and ugly people could be good... and pretty too? Tapping the side of her beak a little, she slowly began to nod in understanding. "Is it like poisonous things? she asked, thinking of a book she had read about different animals. "They can be very pretty but very dangerous," she nodded sagely. "Are you scared of what you don't understand Daddy?"

Isidore listened to his father intently, yes he understood that. It was like how some people looked at Kyrie strangely, but she was not strange at all. She was nice and kind and his sister. "Like us dad?" He asked. "Because we help dead people." Well, technically he helped the living too, but his realm was one associated with death. "They think that's scary, that we're scary because they don't like to think abut death."

Oh ? Well, this discussion was taking another turn, it seemed, and Caelia definitively grew interested as well. "People were kind of scared of Nath too, before he got better." Which, honestly, had annoyed her to no end, and had caused more than one screaming fest. Nath had never seemed to mind, but she had minded, and like hell she wouldn't try to do anything about that ! She didn't like it when people were being mean for silly reasons. It was... well.... mean.
"Yes, exactly like that." All three of their examples were very good ones. Kyrie's question had unknowingly touched a nerve, though he simply laughed it off. "Sometimes, Kyrie. I try not to be. But sometimes you cannot really help it. You just have to realize when you do, and try to understand whatever gets that reaction out of you rather than be scared of it."
As for what Isidore and Caelia touched on, it was similar enough that he could lump it together. "Yes. Mortals do not like to think of death, because they do not understand it. There are beginnings, but there needs to be endings, too." There were for all things. Even immortals, and even gods - they had learned that the hard way, indeed.
"It isn't how others perceive us that matter. It is how we perceive ourselves, and what we do with the power we have." Good intentions usually prevailed, with some exceptions from extremely stubborn individuals.

Kyrie sat back as her father answered her question and tried to picture him in a situation like that. It was hard to do. In her eyes, her neither one of her parents could do much wrong. But as he said, it wasn't exactly wrong to feel that way. It was okay as long as you learned from it. Most everything was okay as long as you learned from it. She had certainly learned to not take on inviting the undead around without proper supervision or training.
"I want to do good things," she nodded a little and looked to her siblings. She was quite certain they felt the same and she felt a sense of warmth and happiness from that thought. She wanted other people to see how wonderful they all were, just as she saw them.
