Yi felt something land in his lap and opened his eyes ever so slightly, looking though his lashes. He nearly opened his eyes all the way when he saw the green tail. He did smile to himself and lazily placed his hand on it as of his hand were falling from his head in deep sleep.Akiko rolled her eyes at her brother as he tried to be sly. But she smiled at Carmen and said, "It is nice to have someone, yes, but sometimes you need to be by yourself." she sighed then wrinkled her nose, "I love my siblings, and Felix. But I need to be my own person sometimes." Akiko smiled and whispered to her, "Soon, though, Yi and I are going our own ways, and I am a little afraid..." She looked at Yi hoping he hadn't heard her then back to Carmen. She whispered again, "Don't tell him that... He's a little protective..."Felix laid his head down on Carmen's tail and started making contented noises. Soon he fell asleep from the comfortable position and the rocking of the wagon.Yi, however, was more interested in Carmen's hair at the moment. Too bad he couldn't touch that without giving himself away.

Carmen turned her head towards Akiko to listen to her. "Huh. I guess I just don't relate to that just yet since that's not a situation I've had to deal with. Does that mean you have more siblings than him?" She just made a pointing gesture with one of her hands to point towards Yi without looking at him. Though while watching and listening to Akiko, she could feel the gentle sensations of the pressure on her tail from it being touched and then laid on.
She peeked back momentarily. Her eyes looked down and saw Felix laying in it. Her eyes filled with a little desu sparkle, and she found herself unable to disturb him. She thought maybe next time she should maybe offer Felix if he just wants to sleep in her lap. She could just drape her tail over her lap and make a little nesty type bed for him. She'd try to remember that later.
When Akiko started again, Carmen looked back up at her. Carmen listened. She was able to discern that at least Akiko didn't like being hampered by her brother's constant presence. Carmen thought it was amusing. They were like living in each other's opposites. She whispered, ~YEAH, I won't tell.~ She gave her a wink and a warm smile.
Then, when it was some hours into their ride, the buggy came to a halt. The men in the front called back to them. "We're making camp. Sleep out with us if you want or in the wagon. Don't make no difference to us."
Carmen then looked at both of the siblings. "Oh. What do we sleep on? I forgot to bring something. Not that I was sure what would fit in my bag I can sleep on. I've actually never slept outside before." She looked a little embarrassed and nervous. She drew her legs up in front of her, and she looked a bit nervous at least.

Akiko nodded and rolled her eyes, "Just one sibling, though Goddess knows our Hume would accept any and all lanterns and Kyresue who come to her." She sighed, "Yi just happens to be closer to me in age, so we grew up together.... like twins sort of..." She looked at him and shrugged to Carmen, "He's my brother; I love him, but he is an idiot."--------------------------------------------------------- Yi, who had really fell asleep some time ago, stretched and yawned, as Felix did the same thing. He looked at Akiko who was blinking, looking around. He smiled wryly. Seems she was deep into a book again.
He heard Carmen and smiled.
"You can have my blanket." he said lifting his pack over his shoulder. "Akiko has an extra I can use."Akiko glared at Yi for thinking she would share her extra blanket with him. Then she sighed, "Yes you can use it brother dear...."Yi grinned at her, then pulled her braid, "So kind of you."Akiko just glared and tightened her bag close, slung it on her shoulder, scooped up a drowsy and yawning Felix, and hopped out of the cart. Id there was a stream or something near by, she would freshen up before dinner.Yi smiled at Carmen as his sister left and said, "Where would you like to sleep tonight? I won't intrude."
He was a gentleman and would sleep somewhere else near by. He didn't want to intrude on the unfamiliar Kyresue's privacy.

She looked around at everyone getting down. "Um, we're not all gonna sleep together in a circle or something? Is there a way to put all the blankets together and make a great big bed? We can all just stay together?"
She was becoming aware that she was feeling more than a little afraid of sleeping outside for the first time. She definitely didn't wanna just be all by herself. She watched where the humes were going. "Maybe we should go somewhere within the light of the campfire they're fixing up."
She hopped down, and her tail flushed all around her back. Her hair came down over her shoulders like a cascade for a moment. Once she was on the floor, she pulled it into a low ponytail at the back of her head. She then looked at them. "Well, what do you guys think? I just... Don't wanna be alone." She looked away feeling a little silly to be a full grown kyr and being afraid of her first time sleeping outside.

Yi laughed out loud at how cute she was and then smiled, "We can all sleep together if you want." He looked at Akiko, "Do you mind?"Akiko shook her head, "No, it's fine with me. I wouldn't mind." She then smiled at Carmen recognizing the fear in her. She took her hand and said, "When we get to the next town or village we will see about getting you something to sleep with. Until then we can share what we have with us."Felix hopped up and down saying, "I'll sleep with you too. I have good hearing and can tell you guys if something is wrong."Yi smiled at her, "Don't worry. Everything is scary when you aren't used to it. Akiko and I were scared when we first wondered away from home."
They both were taught to be kind to people and others. This Kyresue seemed worried about spending the night. It was always hard the first night out alone in the woods.

She nervously fidgeted with her hair hearing him laugh. She wasn't sure if that was a good or bad thing. Though when he made the move to say it was ok for them all to be together, her face brightened with visible relief. "Thank you guys so much!" Her relaxation increased when Akiko took her hand. "Aw, you guys are the best. Thank you so much for understanding."
Then, she fidgeted some more with her hands in what was sort of a prayerful pressing together just below her chin. "So ... um.. is there something I can do to help us set up for this? I never did it before, but I'm willing to learn. Especially, if we're gonna be camping a lot more after between when they drop us off and when we make it to Taika."
Her tail swirled around her legs, and she bent down to pick up Felix. She cuddled him close to her heart. That made her feel better too. She was then so glad they happened to cross her path. If she had just struck out on her own, who knows how bad this night would have been.

Akiko shook her head, "It's fine. We are used to being on our own for long times, and have learned what to do." She looked and smiled at her brother, "The least we could do is help out a fellow Kyresue."Yi nodded watching Carmen cuddle Felix. He smiled wryly. That Pulan was gonna be spoiled with two females cuddling him. Yi mentally shook himself off.
"I'll get some wood and start a fire." He turned to Akiko and said hopefully, "Perhaps you could find some berries to go along with dinner?" He knew his sister had some talent in finding berries and food in the wilderness. It was uncanny... He then turned to Carmen, "If she finds some, then you could help her get ready for dinner, then we can set out our blankets for the night before we eat."Felix snuggled deeper into Carmen's arms as Yi turned to leave. He made his usual noises of content, not wanting to leave this nice snugly place.

Carmen quietly observed Yi giving out tasks and taking charge of the group. ~hmm, interesting~ she thought. She watched his sister go into her mode of something she might be an expert at. "Do you want me to help with food because I'm a female?" She looked at him a little annoyed. Just because she lacked wilderness survival skills didn't mean that she was some incapable t**t. She certainly wasn't sure whether being given this task was condescending or not. However, she didn't want to argue inrfront of the humes. She cradled Felix closer to her chest and strutted proudly over to what looked to her like a good spot. "You know what Felix? I am great with humes. That would be my talent or strong point. So sorry I am so useless outside of town. It never occurred to me that I needed to learn new skills to get far. " She sat down, continuing to baby the bunny in her arms.

Yi shrugged, "I thought you would prefer to be with my sister than with me." He rubbed the back of his head hoping she wasn't too offended. He just didn't know how to talk to females other than the ones in his family. He then felt guilty. He had told Carmen the truth, but he also hoped that with an extra pair of hands, they would get more berries if there were any. He turned away from Carmen slightly blushing in guilt and embarrassment.
He then turned back as she told him about her skills, "You know a lot about Humes don't you?" He considered this and then said, "I only had interaction with my Hume and those she does business with.... but we lived in isolation near a small village so I only knew a few Humes growing up."
He wanted to ask what she wanted to do in life, but felt that too personal question for a person to ask another when they had just met. Perhaps later when they got to know each other.
Yi then went about collecting some sticks, moving farther out along the circumference of the area the Humes were starting to prepare their things for their camp. He stayed in sight of the camp, hoping that it would make her more comfortable to have another Kyresue in the area.Akiko shot her brother a look as she left to find something to go with dinner. As she was off alone she closed her eyes and let her hands glide over the tall grass. She could sense things in plants since she was little. She could tell where things were in the forest that other's could not. Akiko found.
She felt, more than knew where some berries were, smiled, and headed towards the feeling of the plant. All the while Felix fell blissfully asleep in Carmen's arms.

Carmen sat near the humes listening to their conversation and mumblings. She wondered if she had overreacteda little. She wasn't sure she would apologize too quickly. She didnt want to seem like a pushover. She just took out some bread and nibbled on it while she waited for them. She also wondered why he didn't ask her if she wanted to help gather wood. She had seen some of his looks. They were full of questions. She felt like some were asking for permission though she couldn't imagine what for. Then she started to wonder if when his sister left them if he'd expect her to fill the foraging roll. Then she looked up at the sky watching the sun fade. Even thoughbshe was still nervous, she could feel an eagerness growing.

It was sometime after he gathered the firewood and lit a fire, and Akiko had returned. She had brought back enough berries for all three, plus Felix.
Yi handed Carmen and Akiko two pieces of cooked meat and some vegitables.
Akiko took her food with thanks. Yi then gave Felix some vegitables from his plate. It may look like he disliked the Pulan, but he really had a spot in Yi's heart.
Yi sighed and drank some water. He was getting sleepy, it had been a long day.
He looked to Akiko and Carmen and said, "I'm going to get some sleep early." He looked at Carmen and smiled, "Remember, we will be here with you so it won't be so scary."

It didn't escape her perceptions that he was being noticeably less flirtatious as the night had worn on. Her eyes had started to watch him. She was observing even the most subtle of movements and expressions.
When he had gone to lay down, she then looked up at Akiko. She blushed when she realized perhaps she had been being rude. "Sorry, Akiko. I really didn't mean to demean you with what I said. If you are good at foraging, and that's what you like to do. I mean... then there's nothing wrong with that. I guess... I've never had another kyresue tell me what to do before. I've had my fath..." she stopped and rephrased when she was about to refer to her hume as her father. A lot of humes and kyresue in Derya often liked to scold and remind her that he was in now way her father, and that she shouldn't get so attached to him like that. She was told it wasn't right, and when his new baby grew up, she'd be that child's slave. She didn't like the insinuation behind those sorts of comments.
"My hume had me work in his courier shop. I used to do lots of stuff in the office. Once in a while, I'd be given courier jobs to run to places around town that were easier for me to maneuver through during busy times of day. I just haven't had much experience with traveling." Much pretty much translated into zero. She looked aside and down at the food she was finishing up. She asked herself why she was justifying herself. Well, because she felt like they deserved some explanation. Not that she had committed any major offense, but if they were gonna travel together. She couldn't just go mouthing off to people and saying just anything.
Then, she leaned in and whispered to Akiko. "Is he ok? He's being awful quiet now."

Akiko looked at Carmen confused.
"You weren't rude." she said smiling. She then shrugged and said, "People have their own talents, Yi was just being bossy as usual." She then turned her head to her side and considered this Kyresue before her. Akiko would have to talk to Yi about being rude towards her. "He hasn't had much experience with female Kyresue who aren't related to him."
Akiko placed her arm around her new friend, "Well, if it's any condolence, I've never really had much business sense myself." She chuckled, "We all learn things everyday till we die, so don;t worry about not having much experience."
Akiko looked over to where Yi was laying down and sighed. Her brother really was a moron.
"Yi gets quiet during the night and is more cautious when he is outdoors like this." Akiko shivered. It was his skills in the dark that made her nervous. She shook her head, "You would do best not to take him by surprise during the night, for he isn't a night person." she smiled at Akiko, "You don't have to worry about him, it's us he's worrying about right now."
Akiko looked over to her brother and smiled. He was so over protective, yet it made her feel safe around these strange Humes that he was willing to protect her any way possible.

The response that quickly came out of her mouth might not have been the wisest thing ever to say, but she was a little naive in regards to the world outside of Derya. "Yeah well, I'm not worried about it being nighttime. I'm fine. I don't need someone to worry about me just because it's dark out. I'm not afraid of the night. I'm sure I can move quick enough. And, who's gonna mess with us with these two big hume males around? I'm sure if anyone tries anything fishy. They'd beat the living snot out of them. They don't look like the types to stand for too much shenanigans."
She pricked her ears up to listen to them again. It sounded mostly like they were drinking and singing together. Her tail quivered and swirled around as she had a slight temptation to go over and find out what they were drinking and what they were singing. It sounded fun and spirited. It definitely was appealing.
"I mean. I don't wanna sound like I'm not appreciative. I totally am happy you all came with me. It might be a little odd for me to be by myself. I really do appreciate you all being here. So, when you say... don't bother him, what about when we lay by him? Is not being a night person like how some aren't morning people? I think that's more what i'm like I guess..."

Akiko smiled at Carmen. Being afraid of the dark had nothing to do with it. It was what could happen in the dark that worried Akiko. She rubbed her arms up and down with her hands thinking of the time she was in the woods as a small Kyresue and came across that large animal by herself.
Akiko shook her head and looked over towards Yi. "Well, he at least considers you a good friend if he is willing to sleep near us instead of in a tree." she shook her head, "Don't ask me why he does that, I have no clue." she giggled, "There is so much about him I don't know, and we basically were born at the same time." she looked at Carmen and smiled, "He's strange and moronic, but it's just his way to show he cares."
Akiko listened to her question about Yi's sleeping habits. "Just don't go screaming around him or he'll jump up expecting a fight." Akiko wrinkled her nose. Her brother had quirks that were hard to explain. "He likes to take it easy at night rather than do anything..."She waved her hand around in the air thinking, "He's more relaxed in his activities."
Akiko was then silent and watched the two Humes singing. She then noticed Carmen watching them too and said, "Do you like singing?" It was something Akiko was personaly bad at, but she liked to listen to others sing.
