Sunny made some great points. They were points that, by his standards, meant it was time to quit the job he couldn't do. Because she was right, after all - he'd completely failed to learn things that he didn't even realize he was missing. And they were all based on his failures, and his shortcomings. These were things he accepted, lived with, and moved on from.

He did not, however, expect Sunny to refuse him the chance at quitting before he'd even tried.

Her words made his heart race. When she stood in front of him, she only made it up to his chest, and she was the most frightening thing he'd ever seen in his entire life. This included every single titan he'd seen so far. Sunny topped them all.

He wasn't being allowed the privilege of quitting. This wasn't like with Petra. She wasn't going to let him walk out. She demanded of him more than he had, and was not going to take no for an answer.

That only left one answer to give.

"Yes boss." He whispered out, his head ducking in respect. He wasn't crying, he was too busy being scared shitless - and therefore desperately determined to succeed.

The punch was belatedly responded to, his body flinching just a second too late to be believable. But his shame was great, and his respect was greater - he continued to duck, backing away now that he was dismissed. "Yes boss, I'll do it boss, will do."

He backed into the door, groped for the knob, and quickly pulled it open just enough to sneak out of it and out of sight.

Then he stood in front of the door, and breathed raggedly as he took in what had just happened. The worst part was that he couldn't help but compare it to Clarice's old method of getting him to do things.. and he knew that despite how much he missed, and preferred, Clarice, fear was probably going to get him farther, quicker.

And he was scared.

But he still knew a juice box would have cheered him up.
