Lance slowly looked to his left, then he slowly looked to his right. "Funny, I don't see Aria here..." He began with a chuckle, leaning back to listen to Roland. As he was speaking, however, Lance began to shake his head and continued to do so for a good portion of his proposal. "If you haven't noticed yet," Lance said as he pointed up towards the lights, "We currently are working on some sort of power source. And by "we" I mean the Life division. Life division is in charge of that sort of thing whereas Death specializes in finding artifacts. We outright don't have the facilities or resources here in the Mist division for that sort of thing. In order to pursue this, you'll need to hook up with either the Life or Death division for a bit depending on what you want to start with. Life division will probably be your best bet." He shrugged, adding, "Mists are expected to fill in and help out when needed. You're all expected to tag along with the other divisions a couple times in order to get a feel for what they do, then figure out what bits of the other divisions interest you the most. While Mists are expected to fill in for everyone from any division, that's ridiculous. Therefore, once you've fiddled around with the other divisions find one with what work you like best. Not people." He gave them all a warning glance. "Once you've figured out what you're good at, stick with it and become even better. Make sense?" "Anyway. You've got it, Molly. First up, Candace. What's new with training?"

Candace had been listening to Cass and to Roland while flipping through her notes, leaning back comfortably in her chair and waiting for her turn. Molly's words made her look up with pleasant surprise, giving Molly an impressed smile of encouragement. That's my girl. When finally Lance addressed her she turned her smile to him. "In light of certain events, and something I've actually been wanting to do for quite some time, I'd like to take the trainees, all willing to attend but preferably all current and active trainees, on a trip. Aria wants us to be self-sufficient and survive wherever we're thrown, and so I'm going to make them do that. I have several locations in mind, mostly dense forests, but I may ask Rep from the Sun division to assist me in picking an area since where I would like to go and what I'd like to do is right up his alley. And I believe Cass has some hunting experience as well?" A look was directed to Cass to confirm her question. She sat up straighter in her seat, more professional than relaxed now. "Think of it as a camping trip, a real camping trip. Not some reserved camp ground where amenities are just a short walk away. I will teach them tricks and tips on survival and they will be expected to complete tasks given to them randomly while there. We will all be doing it together, building shelters, finding food, fresh water, et cetera. I will make sure they are packed properly, and I will check and make sure each and every one of them has an emergency pack somewhere in their dorms that is easy for them to access."Candace set her notebook down. "It's not a very expensive trip. Mostly what I need is time. I can use my own leave days to make sure I'm not sending everyone into some sort of death trap ahead of time, but I'd like to take them out for at least a week. If when it comes around and you or Aria would like something specific added to my itinerary for it, you're more than welcome to do so. I just feel it is more important than ever that we all brush up on what to do when s**t hits the fan in a somewhat more controlled environment than the stresses of an actual emergency." Her eyes darted down to her notebook once again. Hm...she did have more in there, she had been working for quite some time on it. "I also have..another idea I would like to propose to you both, but I'm still figuring out how it would work, so when I have a better idea on it I'll come speak to you again." It seemed Candace had a lot planned for the trainees. She just wanted them to be successful, really. She just..didn't want to see any more people she cared about just die.

Cass, having listened to what was going on so far and seeming interested in the various ideas thrown around - mostly in a 'what is everybody up to ouo' sort of way - perked up more when she heard her name mentioned by Candace. Hunting exp- OH!
"I went hunting with Aria once - I believe you remember the uh.. wolf problem we had, Lance." she piped up in answer of the question, "And I'd be happy to share what I learned fro that trip."

She continued to fiddled with her possession throughout the conversation, fingering the contours of each individual piece in the swiss army knife as if to make sure they were real--or sharp in some cases.
Therapy . . . She bristled at the word as Cass bandied about her proposal with Lance, remembering things she wished she couldn't. Why hadn't the Tear taken those away instead? But this was good, Stormy reminded herself, people needed a place to vent and seek counsel; past and present had nothing to do with each other.
Roland's idea made her perk a bit, if only because it meant action, getting out and doing something; not to mention she had been on that Antarctic mission and so had a taste of how recovering bases might go down. If Roland managed to scrounge something together, she might want to look into it . . . Though she could help but feel small in comparison to everyone else; people already were getting an idea of what they wanted, the means to pursue that goal. Was it okay to still feel unsure at this stage?
It was at Candace's proposal that the hunter really sat up for, mostly out of shock; her knife sat still in her hands as she listened, vastly approving of the idea. Stormy gave her (and consequently Cass a glancing one when mentioned) an intense look, one that said Tell me more and You know I'm totally going on this, right? and If you need help I will help please let me help at the same time. She had been coming to a similar conclusion but, seeing as a higher ranked Mist was handling it for the meeting, it made more sense to just throw her lot there for the time being.

Lance gave Candace a worried look. "Survival is something we stress," he agreed slowly, "But... Are you sure you have enough experience surviving outdoors? I'll admit that both Aria and I are too busy to know exactly what's going on with all of you at any given moment unless you check in or give us a head's up but at the same time..." He scratched the back of his head, thinking. "I mean, your own personal experience aside the island still is pretty much under attack from Insanity creatures right now." As if to prove his point, there was a muffled boom as something exploded in the distance. "A survivalist training mission would be ideal in better times once we have things under control." "In addition, you'll need to find a place and scout it out ahead of time to ensure that it really is isolated." He held up his hand, cautioning. "And let me put this out there: it is true that myself and several other hunters own some land that we do go out and hunt on. If you can't find a place then I'll be happy to give you the coordinates however it will cost you." "Otherwise? I'm all for dumping you and your group in a randomly selected area after it's been scouted and seeing what happens. No food, no shelter. Just yourselves, your weapons, and whatever you have on you at the time. But this will take place once the island isn't so... Overrun, I guess." He shrugged, then nodded towards Cass. "Sharing what you know would be good, so long as it doesn't have anything to do wit- actually y'know what? Nevermind. Go for it." A passing look was given to Stormy as she seemed intent on something, dropped in order to signal to Molly for her turn. "Molly, you're up."

At some point, Molly had paused in her furious jotting to listen to Candace as she spoke, though when the Huntress was finished, she went back to writing, her brows furrowed. Miss Candace always had good ideas…learning how to make due with next to nothing did seem like a very good skill to have… Then, it felt like, all too soon… it was her turn. Molly’s heart started racing and she suddenly sat upright and stiffly in her chair. “Y-yes…” Her voice squeaked and barely came out. The trainee cleared her throat, going a bit red as she held her planner in her shaking hands, and glanced up at Lance before she looked down at her planner. It had her notes she needed to read to be coherent. “W-well, sir…” She started, her tone loud enough to be heard, thankfully. “Um…listening to everyone talk about their proposals, it gave me the thought…I uh…I think it’d be nice…er….beneficial…? To have someone who specialized in…safety?” She glanced up at Lance and then back down to her notes. “S-such as…runic weapons, artifacts, new equipment that we’re using to take down titans…um…even down to health and general safety…someone who knew how to properly handle a little bit of everything to teach others…” Because not everyone actually paid attention and explanations at best were rushed and unclear. Molly was getting more red as she went on. “I don’t believe it’d cost anything extra…? Because it’d just be using what’s already here at Deus…and then whatever the Death division finds and whatever the Life division creates.” She fidgeted in her seat. “But I think an office would be nice…? To just have all the information in one place…and maybe a classroom if that’s possible for uh…seminars…?” Molly paused, having read everything in her impromptu notes, and then hedged a glance back up at Lance. “I-I’d like to be that…someone…er…I’d like to be the safety…specialist…? If that’s okay…” She then shrunk down in her seat a bit, as if she was prepping for the backlash of ‘this sounds really stupid’.

When Molly looked up at him, Lance's face was blank bafflement. It wasn't very reassuring. But as she continued to speak he leaned back in his chair with a growing thoughtful expression on his face.
At last he spoke. "We're our own worst enemy when it comes down to it." He began to drum his fingers on the table. "There usually isn't much time for instruction. Hell, the equipment for Titans was more or less rushed out. It wouldn't surprise me if someone has managed to put themselves out of commission just trying to use those things." Lance didn't bother to hide the envy in his voice. Those things looked cool.
"An office and classroom will be granted. You'll need to do legwork and shadow the other divisions to find out more about what they're working on and get additional information out of them. You'll probably have to write up safety instructions too. Proposal granted."
The assistant paused to write something down on his papers. "With that done... Anyone else have a proposal? Or the start of an idea or somethin'? Anything?"

To do with what exactly?

There was something exonerating in hearing how nervous Molly was proposing her idea. Safety specialist sounded about right from what she knew of her fellow Mist: a Disney princess and a maternal figure wrapped into one. When the conversation fell into a lull, Stormy raised her hand and tried not to look too nervous herself, the intensity from before fading.
"If the survival project happens, I'm in all the way." Her eyes turned from Candace to Lance. "But, um, my thing--It's not a proposal or an idea, but . . . I wanted to let you know, sir, that I've been keeping up with the training Ms. Candace put out for us," she began, her hand falling back down as she grew self conscious. "Mist training course with and without her, shadowed someone without him knowing, and even got the drop on Miss C for a bit. I, um, hope to one day be able to follow Miss Aria without her noticing, maybe put it to a specialty in the future."
Now that it was out there, she felt foolish for listing it out in the first place, but . . . Maybe Lance liked to hear they were doing what they were supposed to be doing? O-Or something? At least she sounded productive sort of . . .

"If we're talking progression, then yes Candace's training has been immensely helpful..." Even though Nevada only had done half of it, she was slowly getting better at the trailing thing. her fingers drummed on the desk. "As well as the survivalist training...That sounds fun. And it would really show us mist how really diversity is a must for us..." She bit at her lip nervously.
"But I've been spending most of my time in the life labs, and with the sheer amount of everything they are processing, I think we lost a vital source of interest and research. namely to say, these forces that have been fighting each other. FEAR, INSANITY and DISTORTION. After the latest event with the tear, and the loss of Excalibur and Merlin, I think now is the most vital time to delve deeper into the studies of these sources. Especially Insanity." Nevada cleared her throat, sitting up a little in her chair. "More specifically, I'd like a second chance at the Haunted House and the anomalies it has caused for Hunters, Halloween and Horseman. Since it's the largest housing of Insanity levels-" She didn't even realize she was proposing something until it came to her, as if waiting there. "Ah, I guess I'm playing with perhaps an idea of a specified mission with a smaller team to investigate Insanity in the haunted house. With a smaller group, maybe we will be less likely to disturb Insanity and it's repercussions....and perhaps we can come back with something that will help us prepare for future Insanity attacks....or better understand it."
She straightened a little again, covering the bandage on her eye. "I know it's a weird request, but since my mistake in the haunted house, I haven't gone back. I'd like to correct my mistake at least."
She waited a beat before snapping fingers.
"Of course, I wouldn't be able to do this until portals return, but at least in that time, I can finalize a proper plan of action?" She almost looked a bit hopeful.

Lance barked a laugh as Stormy spoke up. "Shadowing is always good. You can join Roland in shadowing the other divisions." He grinned as he nodded towards the only other male Mist present at the meeting. "Though to warn you, being able to shadow Aria is a lofty goal. She's done it for years and years; hell, it's how she learned how to even be a Mist after all." "And Nevada, as I told Roland you're looking at the wrong division for that sort of thing. We don't have the facilities to investigate that sort of thing; you'll need to join him in hooking up with Life or Death. Like with Roland again, Life would be your best bet to get onto a team examining that sort of thing. Not to mention we just don't know as much as the other divisions, y'know? You guys would benefit more from learning from a division that's studied those things far longer than we have considering we're busy trying to get a grasp on what everyone else does in order to fill in when needed. As far as Insanity goes, I think you'll want to try and figure out wh-" A loud clatter from above interrupted him moments before a swirling bright blue portal formed above them. The light dimmed as something clad in black fell from it, landing painfully on the table top as the portal closed above them. It wasn't any surprise when the hooded figure pushed their hood back to reveal Aria. Nor was it a surprise to see her grimace as she rolled off the table (considering she landed on her high heel with one foot while the knee of her other leg made intimate contact with the table). "s**t! That's one hell of an ent- stay still!" Lance snapped as he grabbed his coat with one hand while holding Aria back from getting off the table with the other. "No time! Look," Aria relented, trying to twist around to see those present. "I need all of you to get up and follow me now. There's not much --" She hissed as Lance slapped a runic bandage non too gently onto her. " Fine. s**t's hit the fan and I need all of you to follow me with your weapons ready. Got it? You too Lance." The division leader wobbled slightly as she scooted off the table's edge, regaining her balance quickly. She summoned her weapon, pulling the trigger and drawing a large oval in the air with its fire. The fire shimmered before disappearing, forming a portal into its place. Without additional details, everyone present would find themselves forced into the portal. The OOC Division leader's orders! Your characters have been forced into the portal! Any protest would have been met with a glare from Aria before she picks you up and tosses you in! In comparison to the meeting room, the other side of the portal was vastly darker. So much so that with a sharp crack! Aria activated a large, industrial-sized glowstick. It was needed as the portal they arrived in closed quickly behind them. There was also a muffled rustling sound, along with the dull thump-thump that echoed in the enclosed room. "Finally!" It was difficult to find the speaker in the light. Movement from the darkness revealed another clad head to toe in a black coat, moving towards the group. "Thank Jack you're here!" "Jack sent me word," Aria replied crisply. "He's outside. How are the barricades holding up?" "As well as they can be," they replied as they gestured towards the darkness. "They're being battered at, but we're reinforcing them when we can." Aria passed the large glowstick off to the nearest Mist hunter as she pulled out another and activated it. "All right. Look," she began, turning to face the hunters. "I'm going to let you in on a secret, okay? We're still on Deus. Myself and a few other Mists have turned a section of the caves here on the mountain into a sort of secret garden. Yes, this means we've been keeping fresh vegetables and fruits and eating well while the rest of you eat MREs." She held up a hand as if to stave off any complaints. "Before you ask, yes this has taken a lot of work. So much so that this area is actually top secret in order to prevent the other divisions from finding out about this, so much so that if I even hear a whisper that you've told another hunter I will personally track you down and make you regret it. Do I make myself clear? This is absolute secrecy. In return we will supply you with fresh food." The OOC Essentially what this means is that if you ICly tell someone about this place please let me know so I can stalk OOCly to see what happens and to stay in the loop. Yay for plot and Consequences! "In order to make this viable, we've had to haul in dirt from off-island and create runic UV lamps. Does anyone know why we don't keep animals on the island?" Lance spoke up. "There's too much Fear. Even though we're here in the Human world, there's more than enough Fear floating around to cause problems. Animals can die from Fear, you know." Aria nodded. "Exactly. While scientists have experimented to determine whether or not plants feel pain, we've found that they can react to Fear too. At first there isn't that much of a big deal and the produce they make is just fine. But over time they start to become affected by it, bit by bit. This... This happens to be one of those times." As Aria was delivering her lecture, the thump-thump in the background didn't stop. "As you might have guessed," she continued, "We're now dealing with animated plants. Specifically the produce." She tilted her head to one side, thinking. "We've got... apples, carrots, eggplants, grapes, lettuce, onions, pears, potatoes, tomatoes and I'm pretty sure we have pumpkins ready to be harvested right now." The division leader sighed, shaking her head. "Goddamnit I'm delaying aren't I? Look. The thing is we usually have this under control. We harvest them before they get to this point. Just... Just be careful, all right? Don't screw up the garden too badly. It took several years to make this place and I don't want to see it ruined, even if we screwed up and picked a place with a high concentration of Fear." She bit her lip, her grip tightening on her flamethrower. At last she moved towards the further end of the room, holding the glowstick above a locked door. "When you're ready, head out. Weapons up, and be ready. There's a hoard of animated vegetables out there, so let's clear them out before I lecture you guys on whether or not you can eat them." The OOC ATTACK OF THE KILLER TOMAOTES MIST GARDENWelcome to the Mist Garden! Currently there are plenty of animated veggies and fruits attempting to attack your Hunter. These things have grown all sorts of eyes, mouths, ears, and other gross things that would be right at home in Halloween. In the Human World? Not so much. There are various different kinds of fruits and vegetables attacking. Please try to clear out as many as you can! IN ADDITION IF YOU MISS: Please take the total of your dice and add it towards the Cumulative Garden Damage. This is shared amongst all players! ie if I roll a 1, 4 that's a total of 5. Miss, but that 5 goes towards the damage. HEALING: Lance somehow has an ample supply of runic bandages! Limit one per Hunter. These bandages will restore you to 100% HP! Mob HP: ...They're somewhat sentient vegetables that aren't fully developed. For instance, Apples have 5 HP a pop. If you do 10 damage then yes you can kill two at once. If you, say, do 12 damage then you can apply the 2 damage to the third apple but if it gets difficult to keep track, feel free to let that extra two damage float off into the nethersphere. Aria took a deep breath and held it before throwing the door open. She lead the charge out into the mass of animated produce, flamethrower blazing.
On the other side of the door was a cavern lit by bright runic lamps that mimicked sunlight. The cavern was molded after a sprawling garden complete with trees and patches of vegetables. There were even some sections were odd-looking, seemingly unreal flowers grew (that also snapped at anything that came close). Unfortunately as nice of a place this would have been to relax, it was currently overrun with rolling bouncing vegtables and fruits that hurled themselves up and off the floor in order to fling themselves at anything and everything.
The division leader focused on a large pumpkin, bringing her flamethrower up to deal the first blow against it.

She was really, really starting to regret growing these. They were tough, resilient, and why did she grow them again? Halloween was filled with them. While Halloween used pumpkin seeds as a form of currency, she knew spray-painting them wasn't enough (she tried).
Honestly, was the craving for pumpkin pie that bad to justify growing them?!

Her last attack went too wide; she barely nicked the pumpkin with her flame. Aria cursed. The last thing she needed to do was blast her own garden and take out a bit of the harvest. It looked like there would be a pretty good haul this time around. That is, providing too much damage wasn't done to the garden...
