Miserably Lonely I'm not really a goth music fan, I like the modern emo music and screamo. But, I have a friend who is convinced MCR in goth. O.o;;;; And, for MCR fans, he says the song "The Ghost of You" is blues. And that H.I.M is punk rock. This is what I deal with everyday. gonk People around here think Papa Roach is death metal. O.o

The bands that I listen to: Malice Mizer (I don't care if they disbanded) Moi Dix Mois Kozi/Eve of Destiny Nightwish Evenesence Linkin Park Nine Inch Nails VEXX (look them up on Myspace) Debris ( same as VEXX)
The last two are local bands in my area (Portland, OR), that I avidly support and do all that I can to try to get people to listen to them.

Sinzuko What do you listen to? Most people listen to what they think goths should listen to and its usually stereotyped as dark and morbid(love that word) But this is'nt right. So what do you listen to and whats your opinion on this subject?
Lyke Marilyn Manson and HIM are so totally gawth!!!!11
-sigh- Now go on, put me in my place. That's why this thread was created, no? As a chance for you to feel superior over the misguided rabble with awful taste in music?

I like quite a bit of goth-rock... Voltaire, the Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Sisters of Mercy, Bauhaus, Joy Division (arguably), Rasputina, The Mission UK, Depeche Mode... the list goes on and on. I list to other genres as well, but of goth-rock, those would be my favorites.

Genres and words like 'goth' have way too many different meanings making it near impossible to tell what 'goth' music is., for example metal has 10 or more different sub types (black, heavy, melodic ect) which most people can't differentiate between, and some can't even tell the difference between rock and metal. Then trying to attach 'goth' to one or several music genres makes it even harder because it has so many different meanings , foe example some people would consider anyone who cut themself to be 'goth' or anyone who wore black ect.
so as for what kind of music i listen to ('goth' or not) i'm not even going to try, what i can do however is give a list of what i do listen to so you can decide for yourself based on your own interpretation of genres.
Dream Theatre Nightwish MUSE
and afew others like lacuna coil and metallica.
