Tau waited to see what the bird would do first, and smirked when the bird did what he was thinking it would do. It went to the cup he had kicked almost immediately and took care of its thing. What Tau wasn't expecting was how long it would take for it to get the cup back. It seemed to be more than a little a**l about how it dealt with its stolen treasures. That was more than a good thing.
The bird would check periodically on Tau to make sure he hadn't moved, but with a little speed Tau might be able to outrun it. The more he was faced with the opportunity to grab his own things and go, the better it looked. He could always come back with reinforcement to get the rest of the stuff back later, right? There was no way this one bird was going to be able to move everything to a different spot before he could get back.
Tau waited until the bird looked away again before pouncing on his own things, grabbing what belonged to him, and an additional set of toys that belonged to his little brother before nearly tumbling away from the pile of goods and out of the area. He only hoped that the bird wouldn't be able to catch up with his head start.

There was a shriek, it could only be described as an angry haughty shriek, like the bird couldn't believe that its treasures were now being stolen from him. Should it abandon the cup and go after the thief? Torn as the thief had also managed to knock over some other trifle things in its dash to grab it finally defeated moved the cup back into position before flying over to fix the mess the thief has caused. It did not pursue as of yet, though it gave another cry that was almost heart breaking to hear.
Back at home the people were still trying to figure out who the thief had been, a mighty list of missing items was made though some things were more valuable than others. Mostly people were trying to improve the locks on their doors and windows to make sure this person wouldn't have such an easy time of getting in again.
A young boy looked over and noticed Tau coming in their direction and then pointed at something that was in fact...behind him. Apparently the bird had not wasted much time in trying to make his shinies look presentable, but instead had gathered what stuff was left quickly and then went in pursuit of the thief. Tau still had quite a lead on the creature, but boy was it furious.
[Tau needs to deal with the bird once and for all. How he goes about it is up to him. The people of the town will want to see it dead, as it is a pest. But what will Tau do?]

((Tau is not an animal lover, blame his mom for that))
Tau scrambled back to the village, his things in hand, but when he looked behind him, he had wished that he had grabbed the lance he had seen also. That damned bird was chasing him down, and it was fast. The thing was practically made for running and Tau, sadly, was not. He was already huffing and puffing and could feel the stitch in his side forming. He pushed through enough to get into the village, into his house to throw his things down, and grabbed anything sharp and long he could find.
By the time Tau got back out of his front door, the miserable bird was closing in on 10 feet from him. Tau braced himself and pulled the spear forward; either the bird would stop, or it would get impaled, it was the stupid thing's choice. The people of the town were probably wondering what the hell was going on, what with only what they were seeing as explanation. Tau was full well and ready to just gut the thing and get it over with, but pursing his lips he knew that there were children around, and his brother. While his brother would think it was cool - probably - he knew that the younger ones wouldn't understand. Tau sighed and lowered the spear, letting the Scorra close the distance and, with its head down, ram his chest hard. The scorra let out a squawk as Tau tried to hold onto its head and twist the thing into submission. The scorra's long neck made it easier to bend to what Tau wanted, even though Tau wasn't the biggest guy in Tale, and before long Tau had the scorra kneeling on the ground with its head in the dirt.
Tau threw his body over the Scorra, still keeping a firm hold on its head, and yelled out to whoever would listen. "Anybody have any rope or something?" The words were choppy with the scorra's struggling, but he was hoping they would be able to understand.

Everyone was startled by the sudden appearance of the scorra as well Tau's reaction to it by grappling with the bird and forcing it to submit to him. The mighty scorra was down right miffed at its current situation, but once ropes were tired about it, its beak, neck and legs the poor thing looked like it was ready to be butchered and cooked. A fair group of people were staring at the bird in confusion and then to Tau who had led it here. Many questions were thrown at the young lad, demands to know why he was out playing around with this bird when they were looking for the thief. As events and stories unfolded everyone stared at the bird as if they couldn't believe it. This thing was smart enough to break into peoples houses? "It's a menace! We should kill it right now." "Leave it alone, we should go get our stuff before other people come across it. You said you found its nest?" "It will just steal again if we don't stop it. Should we kill any of this species we find?" "That seems a bit drastic don't you think?" Heated words were being tossed back and forth, though Tau had saved the day by apprehending the bird everyone was at a loss at how they should deal with it. Many eyes turned to Tau as if he should be the one to make the final decision. Kill the bird? Or keep it in the town? Perhaps he had an ulterior suggestion.

Tau let the others wrangle the thing into ropes and stood up, dusting the grit from his clothes and picking out flecks of rocks from his body paint. He stank of bird. Great. The story of what had happened came out, starting from following the tracks to the point where he had squared off and eventually distracted it and ran away.
The others were more than willing to put the bird down, some even stupid enough to suggest mass killing of all scorra. Tau shook his head and put up his hands. What did they expect him to do about it? He just wanted his things back. "Look. I'm pretty sure killing all scorra is just about the dumbest thing I've heard yet. And I just told a story about a scorra stealing all of the village's things." He continued to adjust his headdress and clothes as he spoke. "It's not like it meant to hurt anyone. Killing it seems a little extreme of punishment."
Tau scratched his chin, wondering what it was that should have become of the bird. Then with a snap of his fingers he thought he would suggest something else. "Even though he would probably make pretty good meat, I'm thinking he would be better if he were supervised. Why don't we all go get our things... and I can train this squawking heap of bird as a pet? Keep your enemies closer, right?" He smirked, though his stomach knotted, knowing he would have to deal with his mother after this, even if the villagers decided to gut it and eat it, if his mom caught wind of him even trying to bring a bird home... it wouldn't go so well.

The villagers looked to Tau as if wondering if this was the best idea. The scorra looked down right angry at being tethered and the sheer idea of it being kept as a 'pet' was an insult. Its beak was even tied up as it had tried snapping it on some of the villagers fingers. It glared or appeared to be glaring at Tau full of hatred. The people around it seemed more than happy to give the bird over to Tau, if he wanted to deal with this moody bird then he could have it. "Just be sure it doesn't go off stealing our things again.." Muttered one of the older villagers who then turned around and began to assemble a team to go get the rest of the stolen items from the scorra's nest. Though some seemed unappreciative of Tau's hard work one of the younger patrons came up to Tau. "Thank you, if it wasn't for your resourcefulness none of our belongings would of been returned to us. I know it isn't much but I would like you to have my lance as a token of my appreciation. It is back at the nest sight I am sure, but it is yours once it is recovered."
