"Sueno!" Madryn screamed spotting his sister underneath the heavy foot falls of the dragons. His heart was thumping so hard he thought it might explode, he raised a hand to indicate that she shouldn't move, but as soon as they made eye contact she turned in fled. What was she doing??? "Sueno! NO come back!" He shouted again as one of the dragons decided to go after the easier smaller prey whilst the other turned its attention to him. Trying to take a step forward to follow his sister there was only one problem, a giant set of teeth that wanted to make him breakfast.
Having to take a step back he tried to see if he could see his sister, but she was long gone, the only indication that she was still alive was the tree's moving from the second dragon giving chase. Madryn could barely think, numb from panic he desperately wanted around this dragon to chase after his sister. But he wasn't given any choice in the matter, the snapping of teeth inches from his face was enough to cause fear to kick some common sense into him and make him flee.
Dodging through his own set of trees, he tried to angle himself so that they would loop back, he had to find Sueno! but the dragon was relentless and herded him towards a rock face. Trapped the poor boy didn't know what to do, his only thought being that he hadn't been able to protect his little sister and that perhaps this was his fate for failing in that task.
Closing his eyes he tried to brace himself for the puncture of teeth, only instead to have a roar of pain greet his ears. Risking a chance to open his eyes there was a soldier decked out in armor, wielding a sword and shield attacking the dragon and making short work of it. As its body crumbled away to dust, Madryn lost the ability to stand and sank to the ground in a shaking ball of nerves.
