Her follow up swing was already in motion.
"You asked me not to, so I'm not." But she did look a little concerned. Perhaps she should be taking it a little easier. She fought the urge to bite her lip in contemplation. Doing that in a battle was just stupid.

He'd be lying if he said he wasn't getting a little tired, but this was a spar, and he asked her not to go easy on her, so he wasn't going to give up now.
"I'm... I'm fine."
Shaking off the fatigue, he swung the daggers into her FEAR shield.

"Nice," she hissed as she felt his blow connect. He seemed to be getting a little better at swinging those daggers around. If he could keep it up, all the better.
She answered the hit with one of her own, and she could feel Armagnac's delight as the blade made contact.

If only.
That last attack had zapped whatever energy he had left, and her attack sent him toppling over, daggers dropping to the ground as he lay on the floor, panting.
"I think... I'm done... for today."

Armagnac was desummoned before Jake was done speaking, protests or not. Sherry hadn't expected him to flat out fall over, and she was wearing her concerned face again.
"I don't need to drag you to the infirmary, do I?" She really hoped not.

Ah, the infirmary. Such fond memories.
He closed his eyes, letting out a sigh.
"No. I'm fine. I just... need some rest."
It seemed he needed a lot more training, and he was more than content to just pass out right there and then, but he had a feeling Sherry would end up dragging him to the infirmary if he did.
"... really. I'm fine."

He looked fine, and she knew her hits hadn't been anything too terrible. She also knew how exhaustion could be. Especially in heat like this.
Her concerned face turned to something that most would call a scowl. "Are you sure?" She already knew how he'd answer the question, and she sighed before he had the chance. "Well, come on. You can't rest here. We'll get you back to your room and you can have a nap there."

She might have smiled. It was good to hear him laugh, and it pretty much proved he was alright. Then she rolled her eyes and reached for his arm.
"Do you need me to carry you, too?"

He took her hand when she offered it to him, pulling himself up.
"No, I'm good."
He arched an eyebrow at her.
"Would you rather me carry you?"

She blinked at him and tried not to look flustered. She would, as a matter of fact, but he didn't need to know that. "I just beat you up." It was not a yes or a no, but it worked. "Besides, you have your runics to carry, too."
She eyed him, both double checking his state of well-being and trying to judge his thoughts. One was easier than the other. "I can help if you'd like. Carrying."

Jake only pouted.
"I'm perfectly fine." Though he had no doubt she probably could physically beat him up.
It seemed no matter what, she would have been insistent on lugging him back, so he only sighed, picked up his runics and gave her an insistent look.
"I'm fine, really."
He resisted the urge to toss her over his shoulders and lug her back. In his state, he probably would drop her, and she'd end up lugging him to the infirmary.

Jake was correct in his assumptions of what Sherry wanted to and might do. Her look was back to being more concerned than anything. "You've said that. Repeatedly." So either it was super true, or not quite true.
She sighed and smiled a bit. "You still up for some food and chatting later? Not that we have to hang out or anything. I'd, um, understand if you'd rather not."

So he did. He didn't know how else to tell her he was fine, aside from needing some rest, but he was relieved when she stopped asking.
He only smiled at her, tucking the runics into his sash.
"I'd like that."
Slinging an arm around her shoulder, he gave her a peck on the cheek before letting go, figuring it was ok by now (they were.... dating, right?), and started heading back towards his room.
