Aludra leaped after him, keeping as close as she could. Now and then she took to the ground, making up any lag with a burst of running speed, before returning to the skies. By the time they reached the research center she was slightly out of breath but ready for action, slipping through the open door and waiting in the hallway for Celemorrow to join her. It already felt cold and horrible in here. Those poor animals were in here somewhere, suffering. Don't worry, we're coming for you.

Celemorrow lead the way through the halls and, after briefly stopping to check a wall-mounted directory, up a flight of stairs. He sneaked down the hall toward their destination, a white door flanked by two wire-laced windows. Inside the room could be seen two lab technicians, one carrying a rather fat and resigned white rabbit. The other was leaning over a counter and filling out a lab report for the day. Further back, several cages could be seen containing several different animals, mostly rodents. Sailor Celemorrow held the stolen access card ready, turned to his companion and whispered: "Are you ready?"

She was only ever a step behind him as they traveled through the building. With Celemorrow there she felt safe and powerful. They were guardians for good, out to teach the bad guys a lesson they would never forget. Aludra peered through the window and gasped softly. "Those poor babies." She murmured. One deep breath later and she whispered back, "I'm ready."

He nodded and swiped the card in the access panel, unlocking the door to the lab. As Celemorrow slammed the door open, he slipped off his hat and pulled a mirror shard out from inside. Calling forth a mirror wraith to take care of the lab technician at the counter, her turned his attention to the other, who was cowering in fear, curled protectively around the chubby bunny she was carrying.

Wow, that creature was Celemorrow's power? Not wanting to waste much time thinking about it, Aludra darted inside, past the mirror wraith tangling with the lab technician and straight towards the cages at the back. "It's okay, we're going to take you somewhere safe." Opening one of the cages she plucked out a wriggling, terrified rat and then peeked over her shoulder to make sure Celemorrow was okay.

All the animals in the lab were in an excited uproar! Things were happening! A little girl was visiting! Something creepy was flying around a room! Squawk! Bark! Squeek! The lab technician wrestling with the mirror wraith slowly lost consciousness and fell to the ground as his energy was drained away. Squawk! Bark! Squeek! Meanwhile, Celemorrow tried to wrestle the fat rabbit out of the other technician's arms. He didn't notice the security guard who had come to check on the sudden din from a room he was used to hearing the only occasional bark or squawk from. Squawk! Bark! Squeek! The security guard loomed in the doorway behind the senshi of magnolias and reached for his tazer.

“Celemorrow, behind you!” Aludra whirled around as she yelled and snatched up the closest weapon she could find. The ballpoint pen she tossed didn't even reach the target, but the distraction was enough. It wasn't every day a twelve year old was found raiding the labs and the security stopped to stare. The rat meanwhile popped free of Aludra’s one-handed grasp and started hurtling madly across the floor.

Heeding his companion's warning, Celemorrow checked behind him to see the security guard. Aludra's distraction was invaluable and gave him the opening he needed to kick the guard in the knee before calling the mirror wraith over to take care of the rest. "Thanks, Aludra." Seeing as the struggling guard and mirror wraith were now blocking the door, Celemorrow left the lab technician with the lazy bunny alone to help open animal cages.

Aludra grinned proudly; glad to have been useful. She opened the next cage and cooed softly to the quivering creature inside. "Are we just going to let them out? Won’t they just catch them after we go?" She bit her lip, turning her head and watching the rat as it scrabbled around in one corner. "We should take them to an animal shelter." How they would transport them all, she didn't know, but in her mind she was imaging an animal utopia where all the poor lab animals would run free. Maybe she could even keep one? She’d always wanted a rabbit.

Celemorrow paused. He hadn't thought that far ahead. Beating up lab personnel and freeing the animals was as far as he had planned. He looked around. "So long as we can get the dogs, birds and cats out of the building, they'll probably be able to take care of themselves." He wasn't sure he believed that, but it was too late to go back now. Spotting a cart of medical equipment, he rushed over and cleared it off, shoving a few empty boxes on it. "We can put the rabbits and rats and smaller animals in these." The mirror wraith finished with the security guard and began its assault on the final lab tech.

"Okay." Celemorrow might not have been sure, but Aludra was. She trusted his judgment and grabbed a second rat out of a cage, before lowering it carefully into one of the boxes. “ She looked up and watched the mirror wraith advance at the last lab tech, who seemed too shocked to do anything but stare in horror. In the doorway the security guard was sprawled across the floor. Aludra turned away. They were just going to sleep for a bit, right? Anyway, they were bad guys, so it shouldn't matter. "What’s your favourite animal?" A big-eyed cat was hissing in the next cage she unlocked. "I like wolves the best."

"Quails." He opened a cage and pulled out a pigeon. After releasing it into the room, it flew around briefly before settling on Celemorrow's hat. This was unexpected, but acceptable. Further doves he tried to set on the handle of the cart. Half of them flew elsewhere. One tried to land on Aludra's shoulder. Celemorrow didn't notice that the wraith had finished with the lab technician until the fat bunny lazily loped past him to hide behind Aludra's ankles. Looking up, he noticed the wraith quickly advancing. "Get back!" The command was to his younger companion. All he needed to do was call the wraith back to its mirror shard, but he wasn't convinced he'd have time to keep the girl safe.

“Ooo, quails.” She felt a little bad she’d actually had one of those for dinner the other night. Well, she was saving one now so it all equalled out, right? With a giggle she stood as still as possible, trying not to dislodge the dove as it landed on her shoulder and proceeded to make soft confused sounds. Aludra was hardly prepared for her companion’s sharp order and she turned, sending the dove off in a flap of wings. “What’s the matter?” Celemorrow’s creature was coming towards her. It didn’t look happy, but surely it wouldn’t hurt her? Instinctively she bent down to pick up the rabbit and cradled the soft, warm body against her chest. She took a quick step back until she was pressed up against the cages.

The mirror wraith was rapidly descending upon Sailor Aludra and there wasn't time to explain. There was barely time to think. Without another word, Sailor Celemorrow stepped in front of the younger senshi, intercepting the wraith's path. The birds scattered. Holding his mirror shard in front of him, the senshi of magnolias silently recalled the wraith back from whence it came. After a moment of not-exactly-silence (the animals refused to allow the dramatic moment such dignity), Sailor Celemorrow turned around. "Are you alright?" Then a pigeon landed on his hat.

At no point did Sailor Aludra really understand the danger she was in. She didn't try to run, only watched the mirror wraith get rapidly closer. This was Celemorrow’s creature and she knew that he wouldn't let it hurt her. This theory of hers was proved right, when the other senshi moved to block the wraith before it reached her, sucking it away back to wherever. Aludra smiled and relaxed her tight grip on the rabbit. "I’m fine, thank you." The little girl giggled at the pigeon.
