Riyo decided to take two steps back from the bird after it pecked at her finger and used it's head like a whip to take the valkyrie down. While it would be a satisfactory meal, she didn't think the fight from the campus to the table would really be worth it. "Well, if nothing else it can sit the enemy to death." That could work.
But it seemed like they'd spoken enough on Hel's new shadow. Hel had actually been the first to inquire on her experience in the Tear. "I did." Was the feline's simple answer on such a complex subject. Riyo backed up slightly to rest herself against the tree she had been sitting under. "You know, I used to think if I could forget everything, I'd do it in a heartbeat." She raised the book up to stare at the cover, though the ghoul didn't seem to be focusing on it. "That if I could forget the awful memories I came to Amity with, I would somehow be a much better person... But it's not so simple." Not that Hel needed to know. Riyo was almost certain the valkyrie had been aware of such a thing all along. "I feel, I guess... Satisfied. Even if everything had been strange and alien when we came back, I'm not afraid or traumatized. I realize now that there are some things I have to work out for myself... Because I remembered a lot of what I buried when I was a child. About my father... And it's made me realize a few things."

The familiar came back and shoved Hel, and the reaper stumbled, and then just let herself land in the grass with a huff, across from Riyo. “Ya, no joke!” She cried back, and rolled onto her stomach to settle and listen to the cat ghoul. This was a rather bad idea on Hel’s part, because the next thing she knew the familiar was tucking its talons under her stomach and— “ Oh s**t—“ Hel hissed, and made a move to try scrambling up. “NO—“ Too late. The familiar sat on her and got comfy. “UUUUUUUUUUGH!” Hel groaned, and flopped her head onto the grass. The familiar then started to preen her bed head, and the reaper just sighed loudly. She pulled her head back up, rested her chin in her hands, and let the bird do what it wanted. Luckily that didn’t interrupt her listening to Riyo. The ghoul nodded her head as Riyo spoke, and as the cat ghoul went on, well, it only reaffirmed why Hel was such good friends with her in the first place. They shared a lot of the same sentiments. By the end though, Hel was grinning, and nodding her head enthusiastically, which disrupted the bird preening her hair, but it kept at it anyways. “YA!” She cried. “I feel the same about a lot of it, truly…I do agree, whether the memories are good or bad, they are mine, and I want to keep them all, because they all make me who I am right now…coming out of that, I felt pretty satisfied as well…” She tapped the lock on her body. “Even if there are a few gaps right now…I will remember them.”

Riyo cringed as she looked up to see Hel had been turned into a seat cushion, reaching out a hand before drawing it back almost immediately. "Uh... Is there anything I can do to help?"
As Hel motioned to the lock on her person, Riyo held up the one attached like a bracelet on her wrist. "Yeah. We'll remember." They were her memories. They made Riyo the grump she was today, and while not everybody saw it as something to be proud of, the feline realized her uniqueness is what drew in the best of people. Those people were the only ones she'd dare associate with anyways.

Hel blew her bangs out of her eyes. “Nah…If I squirm and flail about enough it will move." She closed an eye as its beak snagged a particularly pesky strand of hair, and then breathed out. “Ya…!” She pointed at the lock in agreement, and then dropped her hand back to her chin. “Soooooooo~” Hel started. “…Catch me up, friend!” She grinned. “It has been a while, and I am certain you have been up to more than just that Tear business! I certainly have a slew of things to tell you!”

Riyo decided to sit down as well, considering it didn't look like Hel would be getting up any time soon. "Well..." The feline started, straightening out her skirt as she sat on her legs. "I dunno. Not too much has changed. Right before the Tear I flipped out on somebody." The ghoul confessed and glanced down at herself. "He left without saying a word and then showed up again almost a year later thinking everything would be alright." Riyo still didn't look like she had come to terms with that. "And he's been trying to make up for it since... But I'm worried that he's just going to vanish again one day." It was nice to talk about it for once. This wasn't really the kind of thing she could discuss with an acquaintance.
"What about you?" Riyo looked over towards Hel, glancing briefly at mega chicken.

“Oh?” Hel waited to be enlightened about on the subject, though Riyo didn’t fill her in too much on it. The ghoul wondered who it could be, but on the other hand, because this was Riyo, she didn’t bother to pursue it. If the cat ghoul wanted her to know, she would…and well…if Hel wanted to really know… she would. “Well…” Hel hummed. “You can not make others stick around…so…I guess the best you can do is just enjoy the time you two have together now, instead of worrying about when he is going to come and go?” As Riyo questioned her, Hel released a loud breath. “Yanno, I was stuck in that hole we talked about for a long time, and even when I thought I was out, well, I really was not. But now I am! Someone pulled me out.” She grinned. “And I feel really ******** good, friend. Really good. I do not let little things worry and knaw and bother me anymore, and I stopped letting things get stupidly complicated.” She laughed, and then waggled her fingers at Riyo. “I also mentioned it already, but I do have a boilfriend now, after I was stuck in the friend with benefits zone for a long time~”

To Hel's response, Riyo sighed. "I understand that there's no guarantee someone will always be there. That's just reality..." Riyo carefully laid down so she could be on the same level. "But I feel like... If he cared even a little, he would've left a number or told me where he was going." It struck her that Hel had no idea who she was talking about. "Oh, uh. You don't know him... I don't think."
It was good to hear though, that the reaper had finally found her own happy place. Riyo didn't realize it, but she was smiling when Hel explained how good her life was going.
Aaaaaand that smile disappeared at the mention of 'friends with benefits'. The cat ghoul's lips formed a thin line as her knees bent and her legs hung over her. "I don't know how you do it..." Riyo couldn't look her in the eyes as she admitted, "I can't even hold a boil's hand without feeling awkward..."

“Ah, ya…” She nodded her head. “Well, I think you should grab him by the balls and tell him to do that next time if he wants to have the privilege of being able to keep coming back to you…” Hel trailed off for a moment. “Yanno what I learned over these past few years? Communication is really important…talking to others…trying to get through to them…ya.” She shook her head then. “No, I do not know.” She grinned. “So you should tell me, so that I can go punch his face in~” The reaper then laughed at Riyo’s words. “Oh my Jack…how could I not do more than holding hands…but do not get me wrong!” She waved her hands a bit. “I love hand holding too! It gives me stupid but pleasant and warm moths in my stomach!” She grinned. “But I think that has to do with upbringing, ya? No place to be ‘do not touch me’ where I come from.”

Grab him by the.. Oh Jack. "I won't be grabbing him by anything." The feline huffed. "But I did cave his face in when he tried to speak casually to me." She smiled at that thought. It hadn't been the most satisfying thing, but it still felt good to release some of that frustration. "If you ever run into an orange tabby, his name is Deacon, and he is a puss." Which she meant in almost every sense of the word.
This was... Definitely a talk she hadn't expected to have with anyone really, but it was something Riyo needed (as we're most talks the Valkyrie gave). Moths in her stomach. She wondered what that was like."Yeah, you're right." Certainly. It had everything to do with upbringing. "I came from a place where the only physical interaction I had were kicks and punches." On both ends, really. The feline picked at the grass as she thought about the vulgar memories of her mother. "Except for a very short time when I was small."

Hel laughed. “Good!” She cried, and then nodded. “Alright…an orange tabby named Deacon, got it.” She then made a whine. “Aww, he is a puss? Well, that will be too easy then.” She giggled. The ghoul nodded again. “Ah…ya…” Oh yes…Riyo’s past, and the snippets she had gotten from it, well…Hel idly rolled her shoulders, and was still stuck under her bird as it continued to preen her hair. “Well, you know how I feel about the past, friend. Many like to use it as a crutch, but I look at it like a diving board.” She grinned. “Everyone should look at it that way. Jump off of it, know were you came from, but look towards the future!” She pumped a fist into the air as much as she could. “So continue to push yourself out of your comfort zone.” She replied, resting her chin in her hands again. "KNOW YOUR LIMITATIONS...ONLY SO THAT YOU CAN SMASH THEM!" Then Hel paused. "Riyo." She stared at her. "You never asked who my new boilfriend was." Stare.

Riyo couldn't help but laugh as well. "It's so easy to beat the snot out of him I'd almost consider it boring." Almost.
The demoness could remember a time when she would've been distraught over Hel trying to give her advice over the past. Anymore though, it was expected. Welcome, even. "That's what I'm aiming for." But this was one comfort zone she was hesitant to cross. It meant a gradual but almost complete change in lifestyle. It also meant admitting that being... Physically close to someone was what she wanted.
Riyo was thoughtfully staring into the distance when the reaper brought up her romantic situation again. She was hesitant to ask because most likely it was someone she didn't care for. "...So who is your new boilfriend Hel?" The feline took the cue without arguing.

Hel managed to keep a very straight and serious air about her when she decided to pull Riyo’s leg. “Titus.” Still straight face. “Why do you think you have not seen him around lately.” Eye brow waggle.

Riyo's smile magically disappeared, leaving only a grimace in it's wake. She had done her best to forget about the nightmare demon. In fact, a moment with him was one of the memories she had given up.
Her eyes squinted as she scrutinized Hel's expression. If she was lying, Riyo couldn't tell. "Tell me, how does it feel? ******** a needle d**k, that is." Her tone was low and bitter, hypocritically sinking to the valkyrie's level of lewdness. Hnngh that was not a pretty mental image.

Hel then pouted, and snapped her fingers. “AWWWW…I was hoping for incredulousness and shock. No such luck!” She then waved a hand. “Oh Jack, no, he is not my boilfriend…I was just hoping to pull your leg.” Hel cupped her chin once more. “Okay, now I am serious! It is Mac…ah…have you heard of him or seen him before…?” Oh Hel…if only you knew.

Riyo's bitterness faded into anger. "FFF!" The ghoul hissed and bonked Hel on the head while she was stuck under her chicken. "You did get me, you a*****e..." Just not with the reaction she had expected. She could've been shocked, but with the way the two used to fight... Well... The possibility had always been there, hadn't it?
The mention of Mac, however, sent the cat ghoul leaping to her feet in a fit of rage. "Are you ******** kidding me?" She screeched, gesturing wildly. "That guy is awful! He practically cracked my skull open one day!"
