Now was not the time to be thinking about the poor young girl he threw in the coolers, and so long as Medea was here, Buddingtonite knew that he couldn't simply abandon her, not without her drawing any suspicion. And with her nuzzled so close to him, it was impossible for him to want to shoo her away. Lucca was a strong, young girl, surely it wouldn't hurt her to be in there for a few more minutes, right?
"My dear, you wound me… thinking I could forget your dazzling beauty, when you are sitting right here next to me?" Buddingtonite cooed, giving her another protective squeeze and planting a soft kiss to that thick, gorgeous hair of hers. "Are you implying that I'm so old to forget something so plainly obvious, that my eyes are too aged to see what makes you so desirable? I'm not that old, am I? Are wrinkles showing?"
He was going to look for a reflective surface, but the hand to his cheek stopped him, and he gave a soft sigh, cupping that hand within his own and giving a nod. "Please, you flatter me. I'll do whatever I can to keep you safe, you're just going to have to let me try. For what is within my control, anyway. Can you trust me to do that, Medea? Please?"

Hair-kiss! "Buddy--" She didn't feel so cold anymore. "Noooo, you seem pretty young." She adored the squeeze. "And thank you." She chuckled. What was this grin? She couldn't control it. "You dazzle me too..."
He pressed his hand to hers.
"Captain--" She laughed. "Is this what good Senshi do?" Maybe everything between them would be alright? Maybe know one would ever know these rendezvous, and they could be secret allies until the war ended. Maybe... "I trust you."
She leaned in and whispered into his ear:
"And that's why I'm trusting you with this." She closed her eyes. "Purple hair. Slate eyes. Gray hoodie." She pulled back, studying him. "Be careful okay?" She frowned. "I don't want to lose you--"

He wasn't prepared for her to lean over and whisper, but when she did, he found it hard to hold back the smallest amount of giddiness that threatened to take over within him. If he didn't have his cousin locked away in the cooler to worry about, he would have wondered if he could get away with whisking her away to his apartment, if only for the night. How would Baldwin have handled such an endeavor?
Probably not good. He already freaked out when he saw his master in full regalia. That sight of a senshi? No, poor Baldwin had endured enough.
But the description she gave? That was enough to wipe the smile off his face, and while the grey hoodie seemed new to him, the other two rung a very familiar, very LOUD warning bells within him. Purple hair and slate eyes? He knew one lady of the Negaverse that fit that description, and his mind immediately flashed to the training sessions with her, and then, the little romp about the bed that took place shortly after one such session. 'Oh no, not… Xenotime?'
He had almost missed what she said, and while he was certain that she could read his expression and see his alarm, he couldn't stop himself from scoffing at that last part. "Don't worry about me, Medea. You won't be able to get rid of me soon enough."

"Yay." Overtaken by joy and adoration, she missed any alarm Buddy expressed. She snickered and nuzzled in. "So what was that 'important' thing you were so worried about?" Buddy made her so happy. She hoped she returned the favor, but then, of course she did! If she didn't he wouldn't sit on this roof, right? He would have spirited her off to the Negaverse or driven his hand into her chest. She even held it above her starseed once, and he didn't grasp. He actually seemed concerned, angry, and then he confronted Mariposite, who did hurt her. Yes, Buddy seemed most interested in her, given their history. It could have been so easy to tear her apart, but certainly he moved past that! He only hoped to protect her.
Only fools would think otherwise.
"Could it really be as important as this?" She grinned. "I'm very comfortable you know. Why disturb the peace?" Yes, Buddy, why disturb a peaceful peace under dark skies, regardless of the exposure to officers? She felt extremely content, and terribly safe--unaware of the obvious, oblivious to any schemes.

'Oh, nothing big, just my little cousin being locked in the cooler and growing as suspicious as she is cold... nothing important.' Buddingtonite thought to himself with a rather sheepish grin, one that he was certain that she caught and a well enough distraction from the new developments of this encounter Medea had with one of his officers. Xenotime, if that was in fact her that Medea faced, wasn't just someone he could dream of getting revenge on, and it wasn't completely due to the fact that she could wipe the floor with him and then some in a match. Xenotime, or rather, her civilian ego, ranked a solid 10 of out of 10 on 'Would Do Again' list, and he was certain that if he tried bullying her into sparing his Medea from another crippling injury, that he'd blow whatever chances he'd have of seeing that rootin'-tootin' fighter under the sheets again.
But, if it would keep Medea safe... would it be worth it? His heart conflicted with his instincts, and it was just to easy to give in to his desires, but still he had to refrain. If not only for his sake, but for Lucca's as well.
"There are few things more important than this, Medea... though only one comes to mind at the moment," Buddingtonite said with a coo, drawing her closer and closer, knowing that he had to go, even when he didn't want to, even when Medea would go on picking the fight with the wrong Negaverse officer. Before he'd leave, he'd at least see if he could sneak a kiss on the lips, pitching his soft voice even lower as he whispered. "Promise me you won't get carried away with your revenge? Care to seal it with a kiss?"

"Captain~" she whispered, closing her eyes and drawing in. Her heart raced. She blushed. How did this happen? She never felt shy about kissing. Why now? "You're making it hard to be good--" Tangled up in him. Warm. Stars watched bright and clear. She liked him a lot--felt safe her, pleased, happy, good. She said, "You're the one I like you know." She wrapped her arms around him. "Of all the agents--" She pressed her face to his, lashes fluttering. "--you're my favorite. I'm so glad I met you."
She kissed him softly and pulled away, smiling, lingering just an inch away.
"I promise revenge won't overtake me," she whispered. "And we'll be alright, alright? I promise: Nothing bad will happen to us."

Yes, he certainly didn't miss this part about his life and it seemed that no matter what attire or face he wore, deep down inside, he always welcomed the company of another. Friend, foe, it didn't seem to matter to Buddingtonite, which would have put him in an unsavory position with his organization, but he had good faith in himself to be able to talk his way out of any predicament (or in the very least, try his hand at begging).
"Of course I'm your favorite. I don't accept second best..." Buddingtonite said before leaning in for the kiss, and for a second time that night, he forgot about prior engagements and the young lady trapped in the cooler. With Medea here, why focus on anything else? He even forgot just who this young senshi was planning on tangoing with! But, as much as he longed to believe her promise, as desperate and delusion he knew himself to be at times, it was just hard to believe. One day, he would have to push to seal the deal...
But today was not going to be that day, and he accepted this. He pulled away and stood, scouting the area around them, making a last minute sweep before deciding to send her off. Thus far, no other of her kind were about, and Serpentine had not taken the streets nearby, but who knew when he'd come out? He didn't feel like explaining this to him. He troubled the poor fellow enough lately, hadn't he? "It'll probably be for the best that you avoid this area in the future, though. Lots of activity here and we Negaverse agents are very attached to our local businesses and wouldn't want any of them to be victims of collateral damage. Surely you understand?"elza magica Okay, I think I left Lucca in the freezer long enough. Want to start wrapping up?

Medea nodded. He kissed her and sent her off. She smiled but her eyes brightened. She laughed. Of course. Just to protect her. This distance. Yes. Just to protect. She would distance him too! Pull him in, draw him close, hug him tightly...at a distance. Nothing to fear if they pretended not to know each other--never spoke of each other. She stood. Brushed back her hair. "Of course, silly one." She stretched. "It's just difficult to part."
Well then.
Yes, she understood, and she would give Buddy all her understanding, and she would smile and cheer and be okay. The kiss made her smile, at least. "Goodbye." She leapt and dashed away.
Nothing to fear. All was well. He only looked out for her. All was well...

Buddingtonite kept his smile kind and pleasant to see as she made her departure, and he did his absolute best to keep his whirlpool of thoughts and emotions to himself until she had disappeared from both sight and from his radar. Then, and only then, did Buddingtonite allow the worrisome frown to drag his lips downward, and he could not ignore the inkling of fear that snaked his way into his heart.
"This is bad," Buddingtonite said to himself, taking off his hat and tugging at his red locks, pulling them out of their carefully contained mold and taking a strange comfort in the feel of tearing away a few strands. Self destructive, maybe, but certainly a stress reliever if only temporary. "This is very bad."
What was bad? The realization that not only did he find himself completely infatuated with the young senshi, more so than his usually crushes went, but the realization that, try as he might, he could not truly protect her from his fellow officers. Not so long as she remained in the White Moon Court. She was their enemy, and any officer that she came across were only doing their duty... could he truly get away with interfering with their duty and still have a place within the organization? Did that not make his act of constantly protecting her treason?
"No, not treason! I can win her over... just need a little more time. Protecting an investment, that's what I'm doing. Yes," Buddingtonite told himself, taking a moment to calm himself down and he soothed his hair back into the careful style that Richard Moreau prized himself in, before retreating back into the store and powering down. Yes, always a smart move to power down before letting Lucca out of the freezer, otherwise he'd have another situation on his hands, one he wasn't quite ready for just yet. "If they ever ask, that's exactly what I'll tell them. It's not like they can look inside my head and see the truth!"
And what was the truth? He could not deny it. He was completely smitten by the Senshi of Enchantment... and all was well with that.
