He stood there quietly next to her, simply lending the support of his body as he listened to her hiccups and sobs, eyes closed, a smile remaining on his face. He was overjoyed. But this was obviously a decision she'd labored hard and long over, and it seemed like she wasn't quite at peace with it yet. "You know," he said eventually into the relative silence, "normally people don't cry this much when they're happy. Are you really all right with this? Not that I want to talk you out of it, but I don't want to cause you more pain. You shouldn't do this if you don't really want it."

Beta pouted at him, sniffling. "I'm sure," she grumbled, hiccuping once. She nuzzled her face into his side, as if she was trying to hide it. "I'm just... really happy. So happy that I just..." Tears rolled down her face again. "I can't stop crying..."

Cairbre laughed a little, nuzzling her back. "I've got to admit, I'm not familiar with the concept. I laugh when I'm happy and cry when I'm sad. Is that a man thing?" He was teasing her gently, hoping to coax her past the tears. Motivated by joy or not, he really didn't want her to cry. It still pulled at his heart. Daringly, he licked a tear from her face. "Salty. You are sweeter than this, don't you think?"

Beta snorted at that. "It's a normal thing. I'm just not normal," she replied. A faint layer of pink spread across her cheeks as a tear was licked off her face. Giggles bubbled out of her as she nuzzled against him again. Cairbre was silly. But she loved that about him. Reth had appreciated her wit, but had none of his own. With Cairbre, things were so much brighter and fun-filled. Beta shyly licked the glowstick stallion's cheek, unable to find any words to say. The tears did slow to a trickle before fading completely. She was happy, indescribably happy.

He smiled, and this time there was something different about it, almost feral. "Well, who needs normal? Normal is boring," he replied mischievously, his voice deeper than usual. He suppressed a shudder when Beta returned his gesture. It felt like his whole body was winding tightly under his skin, like every gesture meant something more than it ever had before. Cairbre laughed, loving the feeling. "It's a good thing no one else is around, eh? I like performing, but I don't think-" he dropped his eyes to hers, intensely blue and unblinking, "-that's something you're used to."

Beta giggled at the comment about normal being boring. The next comment made her blush and roll her eyes, though. "Caaaiii..." She met his gaze with her turquoise one. "I don't care who else is around." Lightly touching her nose to his, she added softly, "As long as I'm with you." It was an odd feeling for her, though not necessarily a bad one. She was used to craving crowds and seeking out others' company, even when she already had some. But Cai... Cairbre was all she needed. "But it is a good thing no one else is around," she continued, a sly smile forming on her face. "Otherwise you'd be too embarrassed to perform." Performer he may be, but she remembered how flustered Cairbre had gotten when they first met and she'd heard him singing.

Cairbre made a face and dramatically fell back. "Bring that up now? How rude! It's been years, I don't do that anymore!" He grinned at her. The tight winding feeling in his body hadn't died down any, but he was always up for banter with Beta. "Which you should know, given how much I sing for you!"((Want to end it with your post? Perhaps you'll come back to babes and stuff! <3 Gonna miss you!))

Beta burst into a new fit of giggles. "I have to tease you somehow," she replied cheerfully. She grinned back at him before snuggling into his side again. "That's because I'm your dedicated listener," she informed him with a sparkling smile. He was her precious, singing stallion and she was his precious, listening mare. As far as she was concerned, they were the perfect pair. And if they were together, everything would be fine. (( Alright. Perhaps. That would be fun! Gonna miss you too! ))
