Muka nodded in acknowledgment of what Enzo was saying but he failed to see where the profit would be coming from. He stroked his beard slowly.
"I ..ah.. can easily call my father to donate for a school club." Muka clacked his teeth eagerly. "Where is the business coming in? Profit return..?" His head tilted curiously.

"Advertisements," Enzo made a big sweep of his hands, gesturing with his hat. "We sell ad space on our shows to local shops and the like. Premiums get prime-time."

"Ahmmm..." The owl boil made a thrumming thoughtful sound that seemed to emanate from the center of his rotund body and reverberate throughout. "SO you need ah..donations for new equipment. But the profit will not be directly connected to them, simply through advertising?"
Did they just need someone to buy them new devices? Muka wasn't seeing the 'business venture' in this. It sounded like a school club just needed money. He felt... a bit deflated. The strix thought this would be some new and innovative idea from one of his peers, something impressive he could get his foot in the door for right at the beginning.
"I.. suppose I could give it a bit of hhhrrrmm thought." He wagged a finger. "But I would need to see a percentage agreement.." Muka's head bobbled. "In writing."

Too small. Too simple. He could read it on the owl-boil's face and hesitation to his voice. "Look. You seem on the down-low." He glanced over his shoulder, making sure no one was in earshot before landing a hand on the back of Muka's wing to guide him down the path away from people. "I'll let you in a glimpse of the bigger picture here. I got a small establishment I've been building. A secret club, if you will. On campus, That's the moneymaker. But if anyone asks, it's club fundin', you catch my drift?"

Muka's large wings ruffled just a bit, enough to put some room between Enzo's hand and the appendages. It wasn't a deliberately rejecting motion, the strix was just hardly ever truly still. He let himself be led and his eyebrows raised slightly as the other revealed his true plans. "Oooohooooo.." Muka trilled. This was definitely more his style. Secret clubs? It sounded very... fun. "Yes yes.. I indeed can catch your drift. And I think in that case I am much more interested. Do you have anyone else.. hrmm.. involved in this," he giggled, "business venture?"

Enzo grinned at the owl-boil's growing interest. Ahah! So the guy was of a like mind as him. Yes, yes- this would be a very valuable friendship indeed. "The lovely miss Amarus has agreed to cater the event," this was given a wink, assuming the strix knew what that possibly entailed. "Lovely girl. Onna' my best chums. Aint got a lick of business sense though- she just GIVES that stuff away. I'm more'n happy to help her market it, see. Mums the word on all this except on a need-to-know basis, you understand..."

"Oh! Amarus!!" Muka giggled and held his own belly a moment. "She's a friend of mine!" Muka didn't really get it. At least not whatever Enzo thought he got, but he was good at faking it. The strix had sampled her cooking and been pretty knocked out by it. Incapacitated actually. Well.... unconscious. But he was clueless as to why anyone would pay a pretty penny for it. Still... he could put money towards a business possibility for his friend. The rotund owl felt better about this by the second. "Yes of course. Mum." He made like his lips were locked, and the imaginary key thrown away. Except he generally never kept his lips closed that long so it was seconds before Muka was grinning again.

Enzo's own grin was going strong as he returned his hat to his head, straightening up to beam at his new friend, "Excellent, excellent! And hey, just to make sure we're copacetic, don't you go worrying about interest and malarkey like that- You got a good ally in Enzo Valentino, I'm good for m'word. And you know, if you got a lot of loans goin' out to people, aint no reason to be wishy washy about paybacks. I'm more'n happy to give you a hand makin' sure things stay on track as it were. Bust a few kneecaps for ya' when gents are late. Fun business, collectin' what's due." A rat righted itself up to tug on his pantleg and he glanced down, "Ah! Yes, cigar?" He plucked it from the rodent's mouth and offered it to the strix casually.

Muka had never had a cigar but taking one from a rat's mouth would be like taking a cigarette out of the neck of a roast turkey. The rat looked delicious. He wondered if they were Enzo's familiars, similar to Joachim's mice. The strix's teeth snapped eagerly but he merely lifted a taloned hand to decline the cigar, "Ahh.. heh.. no thank you." His thoughts drifted away from eating (well not totally) and back to what Enzo had said. "Ohh yes.. ah.. well," he scratched his chin through his beard, "well I have some things in the works." He lied through his pointy teeth, "but if I need some assistance I will ah.. surely let you know!"

"Anyone gives you trouble," Enzo plucked the cigar from the rodent for himself, striking a match with his thumb, "You gimme' a call." Things in the works? His own curiosity was piqued. "What sorta' projects you got cookin', bubs?"

"Well one does not to have all of his hrrmm proverbial eggs in one basket. Yes?" Muka of course had nothing else going on but he didn't want Enzo to know that. He'd rather make himself seem much more affluent than he truly was. "Are these uhh.." Muka changed the subject, his finger swirling as it pointed downwards to the pests Enzo seemed to naturally attract. "Familiars? Hrmm pets?" He licked his lips rather obviously, though he didn't intend to.

Enzo gave a snort, ashing his cigar onto one of the rat's heads, a few stray cockroaches scuttling from his sleeve and up his arm, "Tag-alongs. I got me a mean case of animal magnetism. Follow me everywhere and only sometimes listen to me. They're better behaved when The Boss is about."

As he watched Enzo ash on the rat's head he smiled, but still seemed unsure. Did the boil need them? "So..." He patted his belly thoughtfully. "A snack wouldn't be.. putting you out?" His teeth snapped dangerously and Muka's head turned to one of his usual (and uncomfortable looking) curious angles. "Just one or two?"

Enzo snorted, "You'd be doin' me a favor, really. You and the rest of the school pretty much see me as a walking buffet," He wove a hand dismissively, and the little rat stared up at him with a horrified expression.

The rat's pathetic [removed](and singed head) actually made the strix feel a bit bad for the thing. He could easily take another. Muka leaned over and snatched up a different rat, one that seemed more unsuspecting (he even gave the scared one a pat on the head). His wicked teeth cracked open and he dropped it, whole, straight down his throat. "Such hospitality." Muka sniggered. He offered his hand out for Enzo to shake, since they seemed to have worked out the scenario so far. "We can exchange numbers.. yes? And I will send a gnome to you with my other.. ahh.. hrmm... details." Perhaps he'd spring for the boil to get a nicer suit.
