To hear about projectile acid vomit made Abbi double take, the romantic imagining she had created falling to pieces at this new bit of information. What had they been doing on their first day to warrant being the recipients of projectile vomit acid?!
"What kind of first introductions did you guys have?!" There was no way to stop herself from blurting that out, so Abbi just stood there with her eyes wide and her hands clutched under her chin. Miss Cass had been through so much with her Handsome Hubby, and only on their first day!
But it was the mention of a Horseman that really got the girl's already undivided attention.
"H-horsemen?"

Already visibly nervous to hear about a Horsemen of Conquest that apparently tried to crush people, Abbi only turned all the paler to be told of Cass's brave handling of dead bodies. That was such a stark image in the girl's mind that she nodded once, quickly, and dropped her gaze to her feet. Of just the handful of people she'd met so far, Abbi didn't want to lose a single one of them. They were all small meetings, perhaps never to be seen again or never expounded upon, but there was still a terrible feeling in the teen's chest when she considered that this job was dangerous to all of them. That one day it might kill them.
And while that was an awful thought, it was a rather forceful reminder that her job was to protect them. Or it would be, if she got good at this.

{ HER! } The word reverberated in Abbi's head forcefully enough that she visibly winced. { Her, I like her. }
I meant a boy! You were supposed to pick a boy!
{ Ye asked me MY opinion. I pick her. She's got a good head on her shoulders, for a wee little human. }
Abbi rolled her eyes and turned an interested look back to Cass.
"Yeah... I guess that's probably better." More likely to happen than finding a man. "I think I've met a few people so far that will be good friends. And I'll be a good friend for them too!" She pumped a fist in the air with a grin before she laughed at herself and dropped the hand to fiddle with the shovel. That sounded silly, but she was being honest at least.

Through out the explanation Abbi listened patiently, lilac eyes wide and hands clutched together around the shovel, mouth popped open in a tiny 'o' of wonder. Miss Cass was such a worldy, experienced woman! Even if some of her experiences were not the most wonderful things, they were still something. She was still special and awesome and Abbi totally, definitely wanted to be like her!
"Mr. Caelius is the uh... Leader dude, right?" So maybe she hadn't formally met the man, but she'd seen him once! Maybe... That might not have been him now that she considered it...
"Wooooow. That sounds.... Really intense... But wow Marcus sounds like a real gentleman! And a true romantic!" And pretty funny, in a morbid kind of way if he thought kissing broken girls in shacks was a good idea because they were obviously in a horror movie scenario. Honestly though, Abbi had to hand it to him. His sense of the world had won him a pretty stellar lady and even though she'd never met the guy, already she'd awarded him five golden stars.

Hearing about Horsemen was... Information the girl had not expected. But it didn't seem farfetched. If there was a whole other world out there that preyed on Humanity based on a holiday, it was totally feasible that a sect of those awful monsters preyed on people's fear of the end times. Logical, really.
"OK so... Alright... So 3 of the 4 Horsemen are caput but there are... others?" So many things to learn! AH.

"And a Haunted House? There are legit haunted houses on this island? Aww man I came here to get away from that noise." A hand detached from the shovel to shake it angrily, frustrated for a moment. This was supposed to be a place of refuge from those bad scary things! Why were they here too?!

The words of encouragement made the teen perk back up, sparkling a little at her new found friend. A moment later the sparkling dulled and Abbi could not stop a laugh that burst from her.
"You really broke your nose?! Oh nooo! But it looks like it healed ok!" Gosh, breaking one's own nose sounded terrible!
"Leon you said? And Dakota uhhh... Dakota isn't somehow related to Nevada, are they?" That would be too funny.
But they were people she would definitely have to find and train with. She was Moon, she had to protect people and that meant getting physically strong too! Yeah! Motivational music playing in the background!

If it were at all possible for Abbi to kouhai harder, she managed it in that moment.
"You beat him. In a spar. That's....... Wow." To say the girl was impressed was a vast understatement, but with little way of describing just how in awe the teen was, she would just have to sit there and sparkle at Cass. Which, since she had been doing a lot of that since the conversation began, only really had the effect of perhaps intensifying slightly.
Assuming that Circe was Mr. Caelius's weapon, Abbi almost asked what shape it took but dropped that in favor of talking about Deus' apparent collection of states. Well, after she dreamily sighed over how wonderful and perfect and romantic and sweet and awesome Cass and Marcus were together.
"Oh yeah yanno. I wasn't sure since... State names and all." Apparently that was a thing here.

Whatever sparkles Abbi had been giving off disappeared now as she instead focused on trying to retain as much of this information as possible. Ok, the Four Clans were a thing she'd have to look out for. But then there was... Excalibur?
"The Deus version? Is that like... A better movie than the Disney one?" That might have been an attempt at a joke, Abbi was going to see how Cass reacted before she really decided.
"Oh ok ok I think I get it... So the house is a portal without a golem, but to get into Halloween you need a golem. Ok. Cool." A small pause before the teen let out a woosh of air, her shoulders slumping with an invisible weight.
"This is a lot to remember wow."

Lilac eyes turned wide as Miss Cass explained the story, Abbi doing her best to soak it all up. It was all a little over the teen's head, honestly, but she couldn't let on that she felt like that. It was vastly important to impress the woman, so when she began to make motions, the girl was quick to follow them. That was perhaps not the best way to impress someone, but Abbi was nothing if not terribly eager all the time.
"So... Merlin and Excalibur were... Not Human people too?" Were they... Wasn't it Halloween? Wasn't that what they called the bad, spooky guys? Wow this was all very much sounding like a really weird fairy tale.
"So if they're not here... Where are they?" Could weapons just get up and leave like that? The idea of Viveca just hopping off on her one poled leg made the girl smile while her weapon reprimanded her that her true form was not the weapon Abbi knew.

The mention of notes made Abbi's eyes go even wider and she gasped in a rather pronounced manner.
"Aw no its ok you don't have to do that for me even if it would be super duper EPIC AMAZING and I love notes I would totally love it forever and..... Who's Mark and Dwight? Why can't they do science? Science is SO GOOD."

That was so crazy. Just a sword growing legs and walking off as it pleased, what a place this was! Naturally, Viveca continued to murmur disdain for the idea that she too could just up and leave whenever she wanted, much as the girl didn't really believe her. That only made her rail against her partner harder so that Abbi was wincing but smiling.
"I guess I could kind of get how Excalibur would be more cool with us than Merlin. But... Wait... Did the Lady of the Lake still gift it to him? What's that part of the myth all about here?" Abbi had totally paid attention in her literature classes, yes ma'am she did!

She smiled all the brighter at the offer of notes and nodded excitedly. That would really make things easier. In a mumble she mentions that they should probably get to work on planting their seeds. For a second the girl does actually start to work on it, nodding and humming as Miss Cass talks about Mark and Death, but she pauses at the mention of extra padding. Violet eyes go wide and she stands abruptly, looking first at the older girl's wonderful set of padding and then up at Cass's face, her own expression rather serious.
"Can they give extra padding and make it stick? I really want extra padding." Girls could be that honest with each other about this sort of thing... Right?

"Really? That's kind of a bummer... The Lady of the Lake was kinda cool... Well what about Guinevere? An-and Morgan Le Fay? Are they still characters?" It would really stink if the Arthurian legend that Abbi liked so much was an even bigger sausage fest than it already was. Not that the idea of handsome dudes running around with fancy swords wasn't something she didn't like.
Mmmmmmm handsome dudes with swords mmmm.

"Dwight can help me? OK I'LL GO ASK! Life Division you said? So he should be where they all hang out-- That's like the labs right? OK AWESOME YES!" No, Cass you didn't understand. Abbi really wanted to look as hot as you. You were pretty and had nice padding and she wanted that too ok. "It was really, really nice to meet you! Thanks for all the help! If you want to write me those notes I'd totally super duper love them and I promise to help if I can just let me know! I hope I see you again soon thanks again!"
If there had been anything else Abbi had intended to do that day, it was totally forgotten in favor of finding Dwight in the Life Labs. Extra padding was that important to a young teenage girl looking for love, ok? With one last grin and happy wave at the woman, Abbi turned and dashed off, grinning like a hopeful idiot as she headed in what she thought was the general direction of the labs. Of course it wasn't and she didn't end up finding them that day, but it was really for the best as she would have chickened out asking a guy for some help in that regard.
