Llyr followed quite obediently, a sense of excitement and happiness welling in his stomach because lake.
After a few moments of traipsing through the woods, with a minute or so pause while Llyr disentangled himself and his robes from a particularly thorny looking branch, they arrived at their destination. With wide eyes, he took in the shimmering, murky water gently lapping at the sides, and wandered directly towards it. He knelt down, stretched out his hand, and brushed his fingers along the surface.
Water. Water. Watttteeeer -
Llyr turned back to the Cerberus.
"You have my eternal gratitude," he said solemnly, as though this were a Very Serious Thing (maybe it was). Then he stood, meandered closer to the edge of the lake, and without any warning whatsoever, dissolved away into nothing more than a faintly glowing, watery outline of himself before slipping into the water.
It was several seconds later that he reappeared, back in his normal form, his hair now sopping and sticking wetly to his forehead as he swam back to where the Cerberus was.
"What is your name?" he asked.

If he had been in his humanoid form, he would have done a salute, in response to that formal words of gratitude. Unfortunately, it was a little difficult for a puppy to do a salute before falling over completely in his attempt.
...Let's just say it was lucky Llyr had disappeared into the water when Erebus fell on his side.
He had manage to right himself so it looked like he had simply sat, unless Llyrendil noticed his slightly matted fur on his side, to see the boil emerge from the waters. "I'm Erebus."

Llyr lifted both arms up out of the water and folded them together in front of him on the grass, resting his chin on them. Long dark tresses of hair floated out behind him on the water's surface, a few stray leaves and twigs stuck in the strands.
"Erebus is a good name," he said. "And I like Cerberus, I think."
One hand drifted lazily through the water, Llyr turning his head to the side with a content expression on his pale face.

He had been in the midst of attempting to groom his fur, but lifted his head once Llyr talked. "Thank you!" Erebus beamed, and this was, of course, accompanied by more tail wagging. "There are other Cerberus around. Both of them are my brothers actually."
"We're triplets." He added, as an afterthought. "I dunno if you've heard but it was once thought that Cerberus had three heads, but it's really just three close brothers." Erebus rolled on his back to stare up at the sky; he could take a shower later anyway. "Do you have any siblings?"

If he had puppy ears they probably would have perked up at the mention of two more creatures like this one. As it was, Llyr had a very pleasantly surprised expression on his face, water dripping down his nose.
"Siblings..." he said vaguely, and there was a long pause.
A very long pause.
"Not that I know of."

Well, that certainly was an unexpected answer. Erebus' head tilted to the side in confusion, staring down at Llyr. "Did you... forget?"
He himself couldn't imagine ever forgetting his brothers. Though he had done so, once, and realized that it was the remembrance of forgetting something that mattered very deeply was what hurt the most. kurotomato aflkjs sorry for the late tag

Llyr tapped a long, wet finger against his chin, seemingly lost in thought.
"Perhaps," he said. "But maybe I forgot what I was going to remember to forget."

Erebus reached out, and patted Llyr gently on the head with a paw.
"Well, even if you have siblings or not, you'l have a friend, at least." Maybe one day Llyr would remember. Maybe he wouldn't. But he still was a nice boil whom he did like, and Erebus was happy to do whatever he could to help acclimate him into Amityville.

Llyr brightened somewhat at the head pat, beaming up at Erebus with a look of pleasure on his face.
"Friend?" he repeated, as though the word were foreign to him - which it probably was. He tilted his head curiously at the creature, his eyes still alight with interest, and then smiled, water still dripping from his nose and hair and fingers as he reached out to return the head pat.
"I like friends."

"Me too." Erebus agreed. Granted, he didn't really have many friends; he could count them on just one hand really, but he didn't think exact numbers mattered. What was important was that friends cared for each other (and also gave good head pats, yes).
And really, he was just content to lie here on the grass as Llyr basked happily in the lake behind him.
