Hypnos had been staring at, listening to his sounds as they increased, waiting eagerly for him to open his eyes and announce to her and the world that he was fine. She waited and she waited but his eyes didn't open. She was about to worry over whether he was going to ever open them when suddenly she felt his lips on hers.
What?
What?
"What?" She whispered softly as her eyes widened considerably, her body withdrawing from her previous position as her hands touched her lips. Everything began to sink in quickly and as it did Hypnos' face began to brighten and brighten until it was a nice cherry red. She had been expecting his eyes to move but instead his lips had! It had been too sudden, too unexpected and Hypnos' tears definitely swelled around her eyes a bit. She had plans! This had definitely not been part of it!
Hands covering her face, Hypnos looked at Ixion with concern still. He wasn't going to die on her after that, was he? She waited for him to finally get up and open his eyes although maybe it was better he didn't see her like this! She was so embarrassed! She was so embarrassed she didn't even know how to react. She just sat there in silence, contemplating just how much more awkward this was than the date with Sam. Did this mean he liked her? Liked her liked her? She was too afraid to ask.

Just like that, she had pulled away and lips parted. Like it was over so very quickly. Granted, Ixion had not thought the whole thing through, what did he really expect to happen? Nothing. There were no expectations other than contact, and the motion to lean up was more instinctive then a rational planned action. Ixion didn’t need to think about it. Now, now he would have to be face to face with the consequences that he was not so prepared for.
Sitting up, Ixion finally opened his sugary eyes to see the red face and teary eyes of Hypnos. It was not the most ideal imagine to see after giving stealing his first kiss. Ixion said absolutely nothing, only stared at the cry that he seemed to have made upset. Without a doubt, it was a blow to the ego.
Hanging his head slightly, Ixion picked himself up and dusted himself off. Looking down at Hypnos, he didn’t know what to do next, let alone anything to say that might comfort her. So he, silently, he extended his hand to her in an offer to help her up.

To be honest Ixion, Hypnos was crying before the skin. There were probably tears on his face if he took a moment to notice. However, that was probably no relief to him after kissing her the way he did. At least she looked more relieved when she watched him open his eyes, although she was taken a back a bit. Finally when he stood up and offer his hand to her to assist her up, Hypnos' eyes fell to it.
She didn't want to turn down his kindness but there was definite hesitation there. As her hand extended to touch his, she withdrew a bit before finally accepting it. She had touched him before, definitely taken his hand before, but things felt different now. As she found herself to her feet, her icy blue eyes found themselves confused on where to turn to. She had questions she wanted to ask but she was afraid to say the words.
"Do you li..." she stumbled, changing her mind suddenly. "T-thank you."
She looked at him briefly, her eyes catching his brown sugar eyes before they quickly darted away and her blush deepened. Regardless of that, her hand lingered on his even after she stood up. It was like she had forgotten it was there with all the other things she was worried about until finally as her eyes fell back to him and she noticed. It felt like she was on fire and like avoiding the flame she went to pull it away quickly. However, instead of falling back to her side they went to his face with concern.
"Are... are you sure you're okay?"
Maybe he didn't mean to kiss her. Maybe she should pretend it never happened.

Sharp eyes watched her reaction like a hawk. Ixion noticed the hesitation, and it felt like an eternity that he had his hand out to her before it was taken. Gently he pulled her pull to her feet. The fact she had accepted it, put him more at ease. Of all the scenarios of what she might do that played in his head, this was the better one. It helped repair some pride, like the dark-haired boy hadn’t done too much damage. Could have been worse, she should have run away.
His eyes were fixed on Hypnos, not letting up for a second, even when she looked away. It was funny how much easier it was for Ixion to just act by instinct, after having just dived in like that. It was a stark contrast to the never-ending parade of awkwardness of his dinner with his friend, Ainsley. Perhaps, that it was because he chose this course of action instead of being forced into it. Regardless of any of his feelings about either girl, this instant was easier. Though it could have gone much better, he knew that.
She spoke, and he listened. His ears picked up the beginning of a word that was never finished. Li--- he could only make assumptions about what Hypnos was intending to say.
Hand still clasped to hers, he left her slip out of her grip, and for a second thought better of what she might have sad. That was that, he killed the moment. But then Ixion felt her gently hand on his battered cheek. And there she was concerned for him, like she seemed concerned for all living things.
“Yes.” Was all he said before he leaned in to her again and stopped just short of her lips. If he could be bold, he was just fine.

It wasn't like Hypnos didn't like him. She had missed him terribly and every time she was in danger she cried out for him to save her. She never thought about it before and always took advantage of how he was always around to save her. Did it mean he had like liked her this whole time? Did she like like him? It took one whisper and Ixion's short stop in front of her lips for all of these thoughts to crash through her thoughts.
It was like time had frozen for her but in reality only a couple seconds had passed by. Her eyes met his as her lip quivered ever so slightly. His lips were so close to hers again she thought for sure he was going to kiss her again. Did she want him too? She wasn't sure anymore! It had been a surprise but was it bad? Hypnos didn't know. It definitely wasn't what she imagined her first kiss would be like, that's for sure, but it wasn't... terrible? Bell had kissed Xavier all the time but they were dating. Did this mean she and Ixion were dating?
Her hand felt itself slide down his cheek, over his neck and land on his chest gingerly. In the same motion, Hypnos moved her head in but at the last second she shifted the direction and kissed his battered cheek ever so softly as her blush deepened. She was a lady and she had to act like one. She felt butterflies in her stomach and suddenly she felt so confused though. Just when did everything get so complicated?!
"I'm happy," she said. What was she happy about Ixion? Were you fine or did you like her?

The cheek. He was that close and she went to the cheek. In the world of guys, that just made it seem like he was friend zoned. The brush off to the cheek. Ixion had seen enough movies on cable to TV to pick up on that bit of body language. He might have been fairly good at reading people most of the time, but mix in hormones and two kids who don’t really know what’s what yet, and everything is easily misread.
But then she said she was happy? Ixion was growing confused. It was the cheek. His grandparents kissed him there. It was a spot of familiarity and casual affection. But she was happy? Happy about what? That Ixion was alright? That he stopped himself from kissing her again? That he did before? He did not know.
Not about to ask, Ixion just nodded to the statement as if he was in agreement. He was fine, she was happy. It was all good. Except for a boy who felt so confident and sure of himself a second ago, he was slowly working himself into a bundle of doubt and confusion.
Why did he have to go and do that?
He looked at her flaxen strawberry hair and delicate features. Still nodding, he couldn’t really stop himself before he said, “Okay. Thanks for saving me. I… I should go home…. Before someone knows I’m gone.” Nod. Nod. Nod.
In all his teenage awkwardness, Ixion turned to go. But before he ran off, he looked back at Hypnos and her icy blues eye. He looked at the spot his lips had touched hers. He couldn’t help but semi-smile.
Then he started to bound off, not as quick at he was normally able, but he was gone from the sense much faster then any normal teenage boy could have.

Whether he was friendzoned or not seemed to be a mystery to both of them. The complexity of a young teenage girl was not to be trifled with and when Ixion announced his desire to depart before anyone noticed he was gone she didn't dare attempt to stop him while she sorted out how she felt. Who knew if she could, or would? She certainly didn't want to keep him and end up getting him in trouble.
She smiled a bit, although her eyes read more into the sadness she felt over his departure than anything else. They had only just met again after so long and now he was leaving? It didn't seem fair. However, maybe it was best that he left now before her face permanently became a cherry hue. He had to leave sometime, right? It wasn't like they'd never see each other again. She'd taken that for granted before but she never thought that one day he'd simply never show up again. This time would be different. It would be all right, right?
"Stay safe," she said softly, watching him leave until he was out of sight. Then, and only then did Hypnos finally fall down to the ground as the pounding in her chest finally became unbearable. What was going on? Her heart betrayed her so. He was gone now and she couldn't bear to think she'd go another year without seeing him.
