Her tiny hand was humorously dwarfed by his own large mitts and the size difference made Bazzite smile. Sure, he could easily crush her hand into bite-sized pieces, but when being offered the chance of a lifetime, how could he say no? Bazzite was rare in that he thought of the future while most youma behaved just as animals, only thinking of the present and acting purely on instinct. The youma smiled to the little girl, a predator in this guise of a broken young man. "Yes, you're my friend, Hypnos. My first little senshi friend." Hypnos' innocent question about his happiness made Bazzite pause for a moment, wings buzzing furiously behind him while he thought about the best way to answer. "How's about this, Hypnos - if I had a tail, I'd be wagging it right now. I will be very happy. How could I not be with a full belly? Hunger is very painful for me, you know. You're a very kind soul." A kind and misguided soul, but kind nonetheless.

When Bazzite said he was her friend, a soft smile fell across Hypnos' face that seemed a little foreign when faced with a youma. For a second, it didn't seem like she was standing a foot away from a youma and making a deal with the devil but instead spending time with a friend. It had been a long three years and a fight that she had been fighting for a long time was finally making progress.
Her small hands found themselves pressing palm over hand over her chest when he mentioned the hunger pain. She got hungry but it was never really painful. She couldn't even imagine but it all made sense when she looked at it like that. If hunger was so painful for youma, it was easy to understand why they attacked so endlessly to ease it. It didn't make it right but she could understand it. If only she could solve it, end it.
"I'm sorry it is painful," she said with a frown. "I'll do my best."

Bazzite waved a hand at Hypnos' sympathy, dismissing it as unnecessary for the time being. "It is what it is, little one. It's how things are. But you have no idea how much your offer is appreciated. I'll come find you whenever my General brings me topside - I can't come to Earth by myself, the strain is too much. And speaking of..." He stopped and stretched like a cat ready to lay down for a nap. Hypnos would be interested in knowing this little tidbit of information, even if she assumed it only pertained to Bazzite himself. "I can't stay here for very long - being away from home makes me tired and weak. That's another reason why we eat when we're up here. We're hungry and we can't stay long. It's like being underwater - you can't hold your breath forever." Hopefully she got the point. Oh, poor tragic youma with their painful existences. Woe is them!

Despite Bazzite brushing it off as it being what it was, Hypnos still felt bad about it. How could she not? It did make her happy to know her offer was appreciated but she would have prefer a world where an offer wasn't necessary. Earth was far from a perfect place though, and Hypnos had to make things work with what she had.
Hypnos had seen youma summoned by Negaverse officers before but she had never really put two and two together. Were all youma summoned or was there a special selection of them? With all the youma she'd met, she had to assume there was some sort of difference between types. She'd even met weird swamp creatures at camp and they didn't seem to qualify as youma at all. What Bazzite said about only being able to remain topside for so long did ring some bells. She'd seen youma finish off their energy and disappear before and at the time she didn't understand it.
"Oh."
What a metaphor. It stung a bit because it was very likely Hypnos would simply drown than be able to come up for air when she ran out of air since she wasn't a very strong swimmer. She was better than she used to be but she still wasn't very confident and she didn't practice enough to really get any better at it. It was hard to find time between school and making sure the city was safe. Now to add Youma Feeding to the list, she'd probably never learn!
"Are you going then?" She asked, unsure of how long he'd been here already.

Bazzite tapped his claws against the metal roof, thinking. It would probably be best that he leave now in case hunger got the better of him and he devoured Hypnos without even thinking. Such would be a tragic waste. Smiling, he nodded to the chibi. "Yes, I'm afraid so. I've overstayed my welcome as it is and the Rift is calling me back. I'll come topside whenever my General will allow it. I'll tell him you're a special one and to keep an eye out for you." Getting up onto all fours, Bazzite stretched like a cat while his form became increasingly transparent, as if he was fading from existence. In a way, he was, initiating the teleportation back to his home in the Rift where he could rest and relax. "Good night, Hypnos." He had much to report that day.

Hypnos stood there as she watched as Bazzite began to become transparent. She'd never witnessed a youma returning back to its home on its own. The Rift, he called it? So that was the place youma came from, huh? Hypnos found it interesting, a quite rewarding, to finally learn where the youma came from. They really didn't have a home and although it was a small thought it did make the chibi senshi smile a bit.
She waved goodbye to Bazzite until finally he was gone. She paid one last visit to the young boy who lied unconscious on the ground as he gathered his energy back before she turned heel and went home. She did a good thing, right? She liked to think she did but she still felt her stomach churn as she walked away from the scene.
