From the sound of it, Chase proved a much more interesting and worthwhile contact than he initially suspected. Not only was he a part of the war that Adrian was still learning about, but the man even played poker to boot. Maybe he could talk the black-haired businessman into a night of strip poker after their little arrangement - for what would be better for letting their hair down, so to speak? Besides, if he offered and Chase refused, he could always cite that he killed a few too many brain cells on the job and the old upstairs wasn't working as it should. Sounded plausible enough, maybe.

Adrian responded smoothly to the man's chagrin. "As long as you have a deck, it'll follow you anywhere." And it was true - for the times that he carried his old, used deck around, others typically found him for a solid game or two before he had to depart to another location for his job. For a moment, he closed his eyes and recalled the plethora of faces he'd met from such an occasion - tanned men with fauxhawks and piercings like anchors against their skin, kids edging into puberty with a chip on their shoulders when they addressed older kin, even women who wore their elegance like brand names often cast aside their social stature for a good game of cards.

And it was all in good fun, so why shouldn't Chase do the same? Besides, what potential Negaverse officers he might run across in a suspenseful game or two? "Who knows who you'll find that way." Maybe old allies, maybe new potential. The cards always surprised these days.

After all, he met Chase, hadn't he?

Adrian returned to heavy scrubbing after Chase's statements about his intentional slip. He still listened, but he also had a job to finish - and if he waited too long, the chemicals used would simply soak into the concrete and he'd have to start again with lifting the blood to the surface. In the more flooded areas of the scene, he skimmed the blood off the top of his solution before he set to work scrubbing the concrete. He knew with certainty that the concrete would betray a fraction of the scene, in the form of lightened greys where Adrian had peeled away the dirt alongside the blood.

And when he paused to pull away from the harsh smell (as he was apt to feel lightheaded these days), he turned around to respond to Chase's remarks in kind. He wasn't impressed by the show of control, but that didn't mean he was incapable of acting so. "Really?" He asked in incredulity, raising a brow. "So you planned this whole thing, mm? Very good, Mister Black. Maybe if you work at it, you could get the terrorists to give up their ways and actually protect the city for once." But Adrian could not deny that he had one excellent point - it is imperative to master life, at least one's life, if one intended to avoid becoming a victim of the times.

"Point taken." He smiled that charming smile before he returned to his work. "You know, Mister Black, we could become very good friends. Great, even." He spoke loud to be heard over the scrubbing, but he found himself tilting his head toward the stranger-turned-acquaintance to be heard. "Why don't we meet up again tonight? Here's as good a place as any - I'm sure we'll both recognize it easily enough." And Adrian could show off the damned near immaculate ex-crime scene.

"Few can resist a good game," he agreed reminiscent of the days when he had done the same. He had left many of his old hobbies behind in favor of the negaverse militia but he had always clung tightly to card games. Old habits died hard. He played alone mostly, varying solitary games because it reminded him that thing had been different once. It reminded him that even with change there was always a constant.

"I have some very convincing methods," he assured, that wicked grin making a comeback. "Though you cannot save everyone," he shook his head, feigning lament. The time had come where talking wasn't enough, it was the time to turn or kill. Break the cycle that allowed the havoc to reign, a lesson most nega agents hadn't learned. He gestured to the blood and grime beneath them, "War means blood will always be shed." He sighed. He never considered cold wars to be true wars because they were simply a stalemate where neither party was willing to make the first move. He found them cowardish.

"It worked in my favor did it not?" He asked, coy. Chase could be so very good at acting at times. "I believe you are correct Mister Frost," he concurred, nodding for emphasis. "Say...Eight?"

"I might be able to swing eight," he concurred. Cleaning up this atrocity wouldn't take much longer now, with the majority of the blood already scrubbed away. The wall proved marginally more challenging, but nothing present at the scene surprised him - he'd cleaned it all at least once before. "Maybe we'll meet as strangers again." Taking a page from Chase, he returned a wink.

Adrian wondered what the man looked like when powered up. Did he wield a harrowing weapon, or was he like the lieutenants that sported reject toys and terrible business ventures? And what rank was he? From the sound of it, he'd been around the block a few times, but as he had proven before, bluffing was not outside his scope of skills. Adrian pegged him for a captain or general, but without much experience in the Negaverse, his guesses weren't worth much. Hell, maybe Chase Black was secretly a Negaverse senshi like himself. He wouldn't have minded learning from someone like that.

"Just don't stand me up, babe." The blonde breathed a sigh, and realized that he could no longer smell anything. That was his first, and mildest, warning that he needed to wrap up his cleaning. Already the chemicals ate away his sense of smell, and surely the next step was a lightheadedness that would persist through the rest of the day. He tired of it quickly, so he wasn't terribly interested in protracting his work and murdering the rest of his brain cells with the fumes.

Adrian produced a mock salute toward the black-haired man as his bid adieu, before he turned toward the wall that sported a veritable bloodbath. Most of it eroded down the wall by now, but he wasn't terribly keen on cleaning the grout. He didn't have to like it, and certainly he found the nature behind it harrowing, but he needed a fat paycheck to deal with his coming bills.

Independence didn't come cheap, and apparently neither did Negaverse contacts.
