Rikki let a hard breath out through his nose, frustrated and confused. "Yeah, my mom's kind of a b***h."
He held her hands tight and struggled with how to hand this. If she didn't want to be with him any more now that she couldn't remember... he couldn't force her, he supposed, but... "Danny, we've been together for two years. I can't just be friends with you. I'm in love with you."

Danny was startled by the immediate intensity Rikki was emitting. That sort of statement wasn't something you just told on the fly, especially not to someone like her.
"I- ..." What did she say to that? What did she say to that insanity? "Um ... I don't really know how to put this dude but I've never been with you I mean ..."
Her voice trailed off. She was trying to remember, she was, but this was all starting to weird her out a bit. "M-Maybe we can hang out later or something? Get to know each other and stuff first?"

"Never been with...!" Rikki gave a sharp laugh. He let go of her hands to push his fingers through his hair again and pace in a small circle.
Ladies and gentlemen, Rikki had run his hands through his hair twice now. He was officially stressed.
He stopped in front of her again, and his expression was open and broken. He didn't know how to fix this, or how to at least make her believe him. "I already know you, Danny! You already know-" He stopped and took a deep breath. He was just repeating himself.
"Yeah, okay," he said. "We'll meet later. We'll go to that pizza place you like in town and we'll talk more about this okay? I'll text you."

"Huh. Friendly and kinda weird," she concluded, pulling out her phone. "Well that's okay. I like weird!"
She began tapping her phone only to realize she didn't ask for his number, so all this key smashing was pointless. "Oh uh ... phone number? I kinda need that if we're gonna text!"
Danny was also in awe at the fact that Rikki was psychic and that he knew the pizza place.

He sighed and took her phone, scrolling through her contacts until he found his own name. He clicked on his contact page and turned it around to show her. "You already have my number."
He handed the phone back and took one last, long look at her. "Yeah, I'll text you," he said finally. "Go find Roch or Amphi or someone. Talk to them, okay?" He then turned and walked towards the reaper dorms, looking over his shoulder every few steps.

"Oh!" she said in surprise. Indeed it was there. When had she picked that up? Maybe Roch HAD told her about Rikki and she just forgot. Oh well, no big deal.
She took a step towards Roch's room, pausing to look over her shoulder. He was looking back at her with the most heartwrenching expression, and she felt nothing.
Still, Danny wasn't evil. She ran back over to him, slapping a hug from behind. "Hey cheer up buddy! I'm sure you'll find your Danny ghoulfriend soon okay! I'll help you find her!" Then she let go, running off towards Roch's dorm.

He stumbled slightly, naturally shifting his weight to hold her like he had hundreds of times before. Then the weight was gone, and she was quickly disappearing. He let out a soft sob, covered his mouth with his hand, and headed for his room.
