Nanu beamed shameless at Tarik and didn’t try to contradict him in the least but when she saw how terrified the other lioness looked, she had the decency to look mildly embarrassed.
“Well, that’s the females in the family. The boys might be cursed with litters of one for all I know…” she offered helpfully in a very casual tone and she seemed to hear her brother whisper something similar. Nanu almost extended a paw to pat the lioness when she hid her face, feeling the same kind of protective instincts that surfaced when of her daughters was sad or in trouble but she quickly put it down.
“My, my… Tarik, when did you become so mature?” she grinned at her brother’s diplomatic reply to the idea of having little Tariks soon. If she hadn’t already decided that Randar wasn’t up for more teasing on her part, Nanu would certainly have emotionally blackmailed her brother into promising to name one of his daughters after her. For the same reason, she also refrained from directly inquiring about his current marital status. Obviously, the two of them weren’t married by her pride’s standards and Nanu knew nothing of the mating practices in the Pridelands. They seemed to be together though and while it would be fun to get an official reply on the matter, the patched lioness would rather not bring any awkwardness into the conversation on the off chance that the answer might be something unexpected.
“Well, now that I think about it, you always were more mature than me.” That wasn’t saying much though… considering Nanu was prone to the type of childish behaviors that most of her children had already outgrown.

Randar looked nervous, but she found she did like the way the family seemed to respond to each other. That they were friends and they were close enough to talk and hang out, and care. Randar wanted things like that in her life, and though she could not simply create siblings for herself out of rocks and sand, she could at least stick close to Tarik and see what he did, how he did it, and what he could help her with.
And of course, she would do everything she could to help him, and be a friend to him, because he was kind to her and she appreciated that. She felt safe around him.
"I think you seem mature," she offered sheepishly, looking at Nanu and smiling in as friendly a way as she knew how. She was shy, though, and that was very apparent as she kept her ears down and her eyes focused on Nanu's feet.
"It's nice that you care about your brother. I will try to take care of him for you... if you're worried."

Tarik just looked away from his sister at the continued going ons about children. He was starting to feel concerned all that baby talk would make Randar feel awkward. He petted the top and back of her head in an attempt to let her know it was ok.
His eyes for a moment locked with Nanu's. When had he matured so much? He wasn't sure about that either. Maybe it was just time, growing up, and being ready for other parts of life to open up to him.
"Randar is so right though, my sister. I'm sure you're mature enough. If you weren't, how in the world did you raise so many cubs?" Though when he thought on his own childhood, he thought he wasn't always being tended. He had a tendency to go wherever he wanted.
Listening to Randar's offer to take care of him. Well if that wasn't just the most adorable thing he ever heard in his life. He wrapped an arm around her to snuggle her if it was ok with her. "And... I will be very glad to have you with me."
