He hit fast and he hit hard, slamming the daggers' hilts into the side of the Guardian's head, recieving a punch in the gut as payment. Clenching his teeth with a grimace through the blood pouring down his nose, Lex rolled a shoulder that felt dangerously close to dislocation. Bring it on.

Lurching forward in an uneven, thoughtless movement Lex slashed out again, aided by the Companions as they drove the Guardian back. Chunks of its armor were missing now, along with a few javelins. They were staring to prevail, but Lex was about to pass out...or worse. Their enemy struck him once again, using the end of his javelin to push him to the ground. It struck out at the others, sweeping them away so as to close in on Lex.

The killing blow never hit the man, leaving him very curious and shocked as to what had happened whilst his eyes were closed. Opening them, he saw yet another Companion, Alder, fading away...but this time something different happened. Alder's shadow faded into Lex, revitalizing him to a point he'd never been at. He growled with the new found energy and rolled under the towering Guardian, slashing at his heels as he went.
This sacrifice would not be in vain.

With a surge of strength Lex charged the Guardian, barreling into it with the two daggers poised to stab into the banged up chest plate. They pierced the armor, but didn't go nearly deep enough into the skin and muscle to reach his heart. Lex had a flash of tearing out the heart of his not quite shadow mother, and wrenched the daggers out, creating a larger hole for the next attacks. He was knocked away, but acted like it was nothing. In truth, it really was nothing. He felt like he could take on the world.

He struck out again, shredding into the exposed armor and skin more. Hit after hit tore into steel and flesh, his own skin and muscle and blood being rendered in nearly similar fashion. He was prevailing, though, and the Guardian was falling under his blows. It continued to shrink back, assuming the position for a counter.

With the javelin guarding it, the Guardian threw Lex off and away from its body so it could begin attacking yet again. It raised the javelin to attempt to impale the man, but he wasn't found.

Having landed on the balls of his feet, Lex had taken the initiative to roll under the Guardian as it lumbered up and prepared the javelin. When it couldn't find him it was because Lex was behind it, and slashing at the leather strap that held the chest piece on. He made away with a clean cut to one strap, and had managed to nick the other in the process before the Guardian turned on him.

They exchanged blows, Lex's daggers hitting an exposed piece of flesh while the Guardian's fist hit his stomach. He grabbed onto the fist and cut away the rest of the leather, giving the Guardian a sinister look. "This won't be in vain." He whispered, raising the daggers.

Without hesitation, Lex dug into the exposed chest of the Guardian. Stab after stab after brutal, murderous stab until he tore into what he thought would be where its heart was. There was a gaping cavity where it should have been, but reaching that point had been enough to down the foul thing. It slowly faded away, gurgling its last grunts.
He looked to the companions and shook himself, becoming aware of the brutality he'd just used. It was unlike him, and the realization didn't feel good. Apparently the man didn't deal with the loss of comrades well.

Lex bent down, picking up what was left behind of the Guardian and putting it away in the small pouch he'd been given by one of the companions. Now onto the thing they were really here for.

As he examined the cups and chalices and grails, Lex came upon a very terrible realization: Oak was the only one who'd seen the right grail before. He remembered it now, that one person telling him he needed to retrieve and drink from a specific grail to restore a part of himself that he'd lost. If he chose the wrong one, he'd be living some sort of false life. If he chose the wrong one... his existence would be a fake. That's why he'd sent the companions with him, to aide Lex in his retrieval of the Grail.
He searched around the shelving, trying to determine which he wanted. He finally found one that looked like it would be right. He took it up and gave it a skeptical look. Something seemed a bit off, but he ignored it and dipped the grail in and drank deeply.
The water was cool and smooth, and it focused him. He felt different, more powerful. A shadowy cloak appeared, running along his body and sporting a red crescent moon. That's right - he was a member of the Hunter organization, living on an island known as Deus Ex Machina. He belonged to the Moon division who kept up the defensive end of the organization, and was sent in to defend the Sun division, as well as make repairs to outposts and walls. His daggers were called Thane and Peon, a former Ogre with two heads. He smiled as his memories came back to him with all his Moon friends, and Dr. H who was head of the Moons. What great times they'd had.
