Clara walked through the remaining black door, the one that seemed to hold the most heavenly of smells...and found herself in her old kitchen. It was a very simple room, containing only the essentials, but it was home. And she couldn't afford anything special or superfluous anyways. She stood there under the door for a moment, taking in the memories that flooded her of the many times she had cooked in that kitchen.
Walking closer, Clara's only thought was that she was dreaming, for sitting on the table, at her normal spot even, was a steak, cooked just how she liked it: rare, leaning towards raw. She took the knife and fork provided, and ate it slowly, careful not to display any slovenly behavior, knowing that there were others watching as she ate...namely gargoyles, but she really didn't want gargoyles talking about her horrible manners behind her back. With each bite came another memory, the first of when she was first learning, and the next when her neighbor's minipet had somehow barged into her house at the smell and swiped the steak off the table, and the next and the next...
Soon, there were only the juices of steak remaining on her plate. Something that normally didn't walk through her kitchen, a gargoyle, came up to her, and offered her a mint and the black key. She took both, popping the mint in her mouth before leaving the room regretfully.

Amrita paused, looking over her shoulder at Merope as he returned from the room victorious.
"Great job! You should-- ..." She trailed off then as he turned back to the room, retching up...something. She made a face, and then turned to watch the amazing spectacle of Hel item fishing in her pockets. How did - where did - what?! But it seemed the ghoul had some cards, and so Amrita took a seat on the ground, patting the area around her.
"Okay, let's play...something? Does anyone know any games?"
Lungs now devoid of water, Merope returned to the main room looking less green around the gills than he usually did. Which, when faced with strangers, meant little to no difference.
When offered the cards, Merope held his hands up and shook his head. "I'm still pretty wet. I think I might accidentally ruin those things if I touched them." He frowned with the flesh part of his face, removing his hat and wringing it out on the floor next to the black door. The puddle beneath the door grew steadily larger as he twisted the fabric, donning it once again when it was moderately damp.

Aymet had wandered off from the group not long after he'd found them again.
He was a bit dazed, admittedly.
So when he found a door, it was sort of a surprise to hear something or someone on the other side. Hadn't everyone been... but... was that Amrita or Hel? He pressed one side of his head against the red door, listening for the source. All he could hear were soft, choking sobs.
What...
His claws curled around the doorknob and he pushed it open.
It was just a small mirror.
"What the Jack is this-" he started.
The reflection in the mirror was him... but it wasn't. Its blue eyes snapped up to meet his.
The surface of the mirror seemed to warp as it pressed its clawed hands agains it and gave a single push. Someone emerged from the mirror, looking like himself, but smaller, weaker. Younger?
"You're not a hero," it chastized, leaping at him with claws outstretched. "If that's what you're wondering. Which you probably aren't. Because you never think."
It was all Aymet could do to swing the sword up protectively against his doppleganger.

Clara walked out of the room, only to see three of the four others in the group. She concluded that the last member must still trying to get the key. She sat down on the ground next to one of the girls, making sure to stay clear of the boy who had just come from the one room that had been filled with water just in case...there was more water in his lungs, and watched as another one pulled out a strange assortment of items from her pocket.
She sadly didn't know any card games, so she shook her head.

"How much that crown already cost you? The fragment? You're just a skeleton, an empty shell of something else. If you trade any more of yourself for a little bit of fleeting power there won't be anything left."
"I did what I had to do," the words came out of his mouth before he could even think. He remembered the crown - the power - and what he had agreed to. The greed that had blinded him. And the sliver of regret that this phantom was preying upon. It began to laugh, a cold sound coming from something that had no lungs.
"Do you even know the difference between fantasy and reality now? You're slipping." It spread its wings with a hideous rattle. "And when you finally fall, no one will be there to catch you."

"I'm done playing around." Even in its rage, Aymet could spot the weariness in the other. He was stronger, he was faster. All it had were memories, and it wielded them well. But not well enough to stop him from what he was here to do. "Give me the key."
"Give me my future!" The courageous facade cracked a little with another small sob. "We were going to be a bogeyman, we were going to be someone good, someone who helped the world, not someone who lies and takes and kills and-"
"SHUT UP!" Aymet began to raise his weapon again. They appeared to be at an impasse.
"Go ahead, then." It had stopped moving, attacking, and now stood between Aymet and the door, wings and arms spread, an easy target. The dragon skull stared impassively back at him, a silent judge. It knew everything. And unlike Aymet, it had hope. "Destroy me. Destroy any hope you have of redeeming yourself. Even if I fail to stop you, I know there is enough good in this world to ensure we never hurt anyone else again. I accept my fate, but do you accept yours?"
Aymet said nothing, did not even look at his younger self. He drew the black blade.
It was over in an instant.
"I see," his reflection whispered as the cracks radiated out from its chest. "Please tell Amrita I'mso r r y . . ."

Click. The key turned easily under his hand, unlocking the way. Merope ascended the steps, casting uneasy looks at his companions. Two of them he didn't pay much heed to. The other two sent chills down his spine.
As they made it to the next floor, Merope picked a spot on the wall to lean against, arms folded as he waited for the two that did not retrieve a key to go forth and try their luck.

Amrita followed the three who had unlocked the first door, offering them little more than a small smile of gratitude. She looked around the room, spotting the same doors as before, and nodded more to herself than to any of them.
"I'll get this one." She nodded towards the gold door, Misty Wrath wisping out of her palm and into all its red glory. The heavy weapon was hefted to rest on her shoulder. "Wish me luck~"
The Patchwork disappeared behind the door.

The door clicked closed behind her, earning it nothing more than a quick glance. The fog was thick here, so much so that it was hard to see through it, and that was enough to make her more than a little uneasy. Something moved ahead of her, and a wing tore through the fog, just enough for her to see it; it dove, and she swung blindly.

Curse this fog! It made it very difficult to see, and aim, and do anything accurately. She barely ducked another dive from the Mad Raven, and her swing only scratched its retreating claws.

Amrita really wished she could say she found the enemy's routine, or saw through their attacks to make her hit land all the harder, but really it was pure luck that she even connected at all, let alone realize how badly she had sliced the thing. The Raven began to screech loudly, just before hitting the ground hard.
She had sliced a wing, nearly right off.

The Raven was thrashing now, twisting on the ground in an attempt to right itself and fly again. No amount of flailing could get it back into the air, but it was enough to hit Amrita anyway as she tried to get close, not to mention made it harder to hit, because it was so frantic.

"I'm sorry." She managed to get out, not sure if she really meant it at all, as she raised her weapon one more time. Her tune had changed quickly in light of the circumstances: It was in a corner now, having flailed it's way into a place it couldn't escape; it left it wide open for her. Sure it wasn't an honorable death, but she had to end it now, and she had to get back to her comrades.
Who knew how many floors this tower had, and she couldn't waste too much time being fair to an insane raven.
"I really am." She added, bringing the weapon down on the thing's skull, shattering it to pieces.
