Varrus forged ahead after a grin back at Milo and a quick check to see whether or not the shadowed figures were still all right. Into the building it was!
He drank from the fountain quite gratefully, feeling thankful that he could quench his parched throat. All right, so - they had to go on. And unlock something. He stepped forward.
...oh. He really should have checked for traps first.
Varrus winced, dodging a bucket of hot water designed to fall straight onto him as well as a ridiculous sand trap before being ensnared by...mirrors? Which way was out of the hallway? He wandered about in confusion for quite a bit, bumping his horns into a mirror once by accident. Ouch...
All right. He'd figured it out and made it through the hallway...somehow. He could only hope the rest of the group (or at least Wilson and the other guy who'd been fighting, and of course the shadows) had made it through as well. Or that they'd at least found a less confusing path through the hallways.

And then the smile was gone. The fountain had been nice and refreshing, but the room following after was one of DEATH. DEATH, MAIMING AND MURDER.
There were flaming arrows that took him in the knee almost in the shoulder, grazing and catching his sleeve on fire. He flailed like an idiot and managed to trick an obvious trap that sent needles flying at him. Several were in his cheek now. It was followed by, with more flailing on his part from this terrible series of events he had somehow stumbled himself into, another trap that hurled a nest of very angry bees at him.
BEES, MY GOD.
His last bit of damage was self inflicted when as he got to the other side (oh, after being by a swinging log) he fell on the ground. He hurt all over.
"That wasn't very fun," he said into the ground.

It looks like the traps hate everyone except for Varrus.
However, there is no chance to rest and recuperate. While bearing the injuries (if any SO MANY) from the hallway, you and what remains of your party look out over the next room. It is a wide room filled with many tiles, each bearing a different picture. Like before, one of your companions scoops a rock off the floor and throws it out. It clatters and lands upon a tile, whereupon it is obliterated by a pillar of fire.
You sigh, taking comfort in the fact that whatever lies at the very end of this dungeon will be well-worth it considering how much trouble someone went through to put all these deadly traps in place.
The Gauntlet pt 3 - Mystic Tiles Starting/Current HP: 75 Ending HP: 74 The rolls:
The tile you step on gives way under your feet... and nothing happens. As you step on this tile, something wet sprinkles on you from above. Whatever it was, you feel better. Recover 15 HP. A tower of flame shoots up from the tile, badly burning you. Take 10 damage. CLANG! Something hard and heavy falls from the ceiling. You forget something. You activate a trap. Take 5 damage. You activate a trap. Take 3 damage. A companion reaches out and pulls you to safety! Nothing happens. As you step onto the tile, you are filled with a feeling of... elation...? Recover all HP. A companion reaches out and pulls you to safety, taking your place! Except... they're gone. Lose a companion. CRUNCH. You can still hear your companion's screams of pain as they suffer heavy damage. Take 50% HP loss (ie if you are 30/40, take 15 damage).
Varrus stared. And stared. And stared.
And was suddenly, incredibly glad that he hadn't picked whatever paths Wilson and Milo had gotten trapped in. That looked...ah, painful. The shadows seemed to have all come through, though, battered, but intact: six of them. There was a room ahead, filled with a strangely-tiled floor, and Varrus sighed in relief. Perhaps they could recuperate there? Perhaps there might even be more water?
One of the shadows, shaking her head, scraped a rock off the ground and tossed it over. It landed, and was immediately engulfed by...flame.
All right. No recuperation, then.
He hauled hoof onwards, breathing relief when the first tile he stepped on produced...no flame. Thank you, Goddess, he thought, although perhaps by now he ought to be thanking the King, instead.

Wilson gave Varrus a rather blank stare. Don't even......
With a heavy sigh, he followed after the unicorn and flinched as he found himself assaulted by arrows and fire. Great.
To make matters worse, something fell on him from above. Goodbye memory of dead bodies. He didn't feel too bad about losing that one.
But when he stepped on the final tile he felt....happy? Huh.

Milo followed the other two like a grumpy grump, not wanting to be a grumpy grump but he hurt all over. And did not want to see what was waiting for him in the next room.
MORE MAIMING. Tiles were going to be evil. Carefully he navigated himself. First he stepped into something awful, he wasn't going to say what it was. Just awful.
But then the next tile, he felt amazing, like at full health.
Then he was burnt. Terrible burnt.
Then...... nothing.
By the end of it. He wasn't..... too bad, but still not okay. And he had a fleeting notion he forgot something....
