"Ah, Thraen," she laughed. She took his hand. Soft. Warm. Like a blanket. Like a pillow. "I'm so tired all the time. Always frightened, you know, of malice. I'll probably collapse in bed after scanning you."
When he offered to bring her back, she nodded. She felt so dazed and sleepy. She could almost rely on the strength in his hand to keep her upright.
"Yes, thank you. I would like that. This place is...important, I think."
Her eyelids felt so heavy.
"I could collapse right here." She laughed. "I'm so tired, Thraen. This is an exhausting life."

Maybe some flowers were never meant for war. "We aren't all ivy, choking strong with fingers to grip stone, nor trillium rare- suited for simple shade and just-so soil, here and gone in a flash of a single season protected beneath the wide canopy of oaks where unicorn's wandered in days of imagination. " "It is. We're not meant to do it alone. I'm proof of that- what happened. You need some rest. Honest rest, sleep. A team and allies that will protect the streets while you can rest and then you do the same while one of them does. Partners. If you let yourself get run down like this, Medea...we don't all get the luck of violence spiting itself....I think there are plenty scouts that die. " He held her hand tight, and pulled her to stand near his side. The choice to return and enacting it was easier, tired in heart more than body for him, the other maybe for her. At least he hoped. The arboreteum came into focus around them- Earth beneath their feet and Thraen the asteroid not even a shine in the sky above. "You will call me, anytime of day, if you find yourself in danger? Even just pushing the buttons so it turns on and can catch the sounds of what is happening. Even that much means a lot, in the darkest hour." Knowing a friend can hear you, even if it is you dying. They'll hear and understand, and maybe be on their way. Can do something, either after the fact to see justice done, or to see your body given proper respect. Not all lost.Since he had his phone out, he held it down where she could see the screen, menu and buttons. "Here, then here and here. This creates a new entry. This button to scan. I'm going to stand back and scan you in my phone. Then you can look at the entry. Then you can scan me into your phone."

"Okayyy~" Closing her eyes, she leaned against Thraen. "But I want to find that agent for you...It's just not right, what he did..." Thraen felt so stable. He didn't rock at all as she nearly fell asleep and they teleported back home. His grasp felt strong--secure. "You're so good Thraen. I want to be as good as you, but I fear I'm pretty weak..."
She forced her eyes open when they returned to the arboretum. In a perfect world, Thraen would carry her home, so she wouldn't walk the six blocks to her apartment, but she didn't expect it. After all, he must have felt exhausted from taking her to his planet and back.
As he scanned her, she rubbed her eyes and said, "But seriously, how do you do it? You're just strong, it seems, like nothing can take you down. I want to be like that..."
She could fall asleep standing up. She felt so heavy.

"We are all stong, Medea. I'm no stronger than you. " But watching how she moved, he worried. Unsuited for battle, but forced to it was no way to be, but duty left them no choice. "We work up to it. As bones broken heal stronger...just scarred. " She probably wouldn't remember anything about the scans, as tired as she looked. She wouldn't be safe to get home. Not from Youma, not from regular muggers, not from policy picking her up as a terrorist. "I have a place safe. You don't need to tell me who you are or where you live. " "Never mind about the phone for now. Come on. You need to sleep." He'd made that little camp out in the old nursing school-c**-storage building at the University. It had sleeping pad and sleeping bag, food, and water. How to get her there? His shoulder was still broken, but well wrapped...it would hurt, but if he kept the weight to his good arm and she had enough to help. "Put your arms around my neck and hold on. Come on." He tried to lift her, scooping at her back and legs bridal-style.

"Okay..." She brought the stone rose into her chest and practically collapsed in his arms. Wrapping hers around his neck, she rested her head against his chest and smiled. Inside of them shined a starseed--warm and fragile and bright, a tiny gem, a spark of good. "You're warm, Thraen. Thank you for taking care of me. I won't fail you. I promise..."
Where would he take her? She trusted him for he brought her to the depths of space and didn't harm her and showed her his home. Such a sad home...lost to decay and stone. The cracked glass and stone flowers--did they awaken something in him from long ago? Maybe? A little? Not at all?
He seemed so good, and she didn't want to break, but how could she gain that kind of righteousness? What would it take...?
Her eyes shut, and listening to the beat of his heart, she drifted to sleep.Ivynian Awesome RP! <3 Please let me know if you want to follow up with her waking up in the camp or otherwise! This was so much fun! Thank you so much!
