There, he said it! Lydia grinned, thrilled beyond words that Cass still wanted to do something. Anything. And a little bit relieved that he didn't want to actually go clubbing, because that would be weird and confusing and it was the middle of the afternoon anyway.
"Deal. I think I still have some tokens in my wallet." Burgers were generally not Lydia's first choice when it came to food, and she was hardly what one would consider a gamer. But that didn't matter. Hanging out with Cass was supposed to be easy and carefree. For a while, she'd wondered if getting back to that place was even possible, or if they'd just be on pins and needles around each other, trying not to do or say something wrong. Now, for the first time since their last conversation, she felt truly convinced that everything would be just fine.
She ran into another room quickly, returning moments later with a brightly-colored poncho and her purse. "I'm ready whenever you are," she announced, poking her head through the hole in the poncho. "Let's see, where do I start? Oh! Did I tell you I have a job now?"
