"Okay okay!" He dropped to defend himself quickly on the subject of Zia going back to school. He wouldn't admit it but he had similar thoughts on the subject. After he lost his identity as Cameron Reid he found himsel working three times as hard to make up the accomplishments he lost in his life but part of him wondered what the point was. It was very likely that Ares was going to sneak up on him one night through some mirror he missed and drive the last nail into his coffin.
"Your dad? I object. We don't need him. I can support you just fine. Don't worry about it." He said rather quickly as if to prevent her from objecting. "You can take your time and decide what you want to do instead of making rash decisions." He said softly but he was very adamant about this even if he didn't think Zia would really approve. She was a rich girl and he didn't have money to offer her. He had enough for them to get by but would it be enough? He hoped she seen something in him to make this bearable.

Zia huffed and stared at him, completely distressed by the fact that as much as she wanted to stroke his ego and completely trust he had that capability, the common sense in her wanted to slap some sense into him and get to work making a recovery budget.
And yet, while she was willing to go beg her old boss or her dad, no mention was made of her mom. Going by the party they went do, as over indulgent and full of bikini clad models as it was, also pretty clearly demonstrated the woman was well off. But Zia had been cold and cruel to her even there and faced with overwhelming warmth and acceptance.
"Okay," She said, smooshing his face and running her hands down his arms until she could grab his palms. Some nonverbal assurance she liked him with or without crushing debt.
"I don't know if I could even go back to school anyway, it's been... a while."

Zia's acceptance of his offer made Pascal smile because Zia simply liked to take care of everything. It didn't seem like a lot to have permission to wait on a girl's finances and support her but with Zia it did. Her acceptance earned her a kiss on the forehead but after that he gave her a disappointed look when she mentioned school.
"You can always go back to school if you want to."

Zia didn't accept a simple kiss on the forehead. She grabbed his face to pull him close to her and kissed him hard. She hadn't seen him in days and had imagined all the horrible ways he hated her, she was hungry for some affection from him.
It also helped to push back the internal cringing she was doing. She didn't like this situation. She probably had enough money in savings to pay rent for the next few months and maybe pay down the debt and only needed to give up a bit of dignity to go get her cash flow back in order, but he was going to stick to his pseudo masculine ideal that he needed to support her and not the other way around.
"No, I don't think I would be very good at it," Zia said, shaking her head and getting back to the school topic.
"Two years ago I got into NYU, I can't do that again. I probably couldn't even sit still through one class."

It had been some time since Pascal got any so feeling Zia's lips on his were like a dream but he couldn't let it go on very long because he was still mad at her even if he was being civil about it now. He would have to be strong and resist the mad temptations this foxy lady presented him with. At least right now she was only kissing him... He did drift off in thought because of it, snapping back when he heard the words 'No.' It was impulse.
Context came into his mind when she finished her sentence and he frowned with a sigh.
"You would do a fine job at it. If you can't sit through classes so many places do online lectures and courses these days." He suggested, a pause following it. "It's up to you. If you want to, I say go for it. If you don't, you've proven you're more than capable without doing so. Of course, that capability definitely proves you can do it if you want to."

Zia looked at him with almost half lidded disinterest before she looked off and shrugged. She thought about school a lot, but she didn't want to be thinking about it. It was a piece of a past she thought was better staying buried.
"Well, I had a rough week," she chirruped and quickly kissed him one last time before hopping off the work bench and gathering up her ruined dress.
"I'm gonna go take a nap. You should come," she said with a casual shrug as she turned on her heel and left.

Pascal turned his head back to his worktable when she told him he should join her in the bedroom. Normally he probably would have gotten up immediately and followed her like Harley would but he was pondering over everything that had happened. He couldn't help but feel hurt and a quite a bit upset over how she had acted but on the other hand she had apologized, right? His eyes fell on the gears on his table with consideration. He had work to do but it would still be there for him tomorrow but could he say the same thing for Zia? He smiled faintly as he turned his head and got up, following her into the bedroom.
