There's a beast in every man and it stirs when you put a sword in his hand.
Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, they cling to the realm or the gods or love. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is.
Perhaps Knives was better at this than he thought he would be. It as going well. Perhaps too well for some. Knives was not feeling any petrifaction or change within him. Perhaps the demon was helping him on this.
'Don't look at me, you're not getting any help from me on this one. 'Ah well, I guess I'm better in tune with the natural chakra than I had first thought.'
Knives began to feel his body balance and almost reach a completely equilibrium within himself. Balance out this now third, or fourth chakra within himself.

While the ninja was training the sage redied his stick. He would at least get one good strike out of this endevour.

Knives felt his body finally come fully around. The transfer and balance was perfect. He could feel himself be filled with power. He chuckled to himself as he opened his eyes, filled with chakra. He knew at that moment he had learned everything he needed from this training.

Knives just chuckled and rubbed the back of his head picking up his turtle stick. He smiled and bowed to the turtles before heading on his way with his new found power and prowess. He was ready to fulfill any duty to his village and be ready to protect it.

From the gates of Konohagakure San ventured out into the heavily wooded areas of the Land of Fire. The places where man dare not tread. As the forest became thicker the beasts began to grow larger. Treading lightly so as to minimize her presence there, she moved swiftly through the trees. It was a foreboding place but battle had tempered San's resolve. Soon enough it became less than uncommon to see great centipedes, giant snakes, and other large animals as even the trees seemed to grow to greater sizes. As she jumped between them it began to seem like she was jumping between buildings rather than trees. Though within the great darkness of this forest a light shone ahead of her. [1/10]
Suddenly the trees stopped and great pool of water was before her. Within the pool where numerous small islands leading up to a great one with a mountain in the center. Jumping down from the trees splashed into the water with a shout of "Rock Splash!" Breaking the water's surface she flung her hair back and enjoyed the coolness of the waters as she swam to the closest island. Her gear would dry in time and besides she missed swimming in the ocean something fierce. As she swam up to island it became apparent to her the water was becoming no more shallow than it had been before. That was certainly strange. However it was not until she clambered onto the surface that she realized it wasn't an island at all. It was a really large turtle with grass and other plants growing upon its back. A big smile came upon her face as she broke into laughter about how interesting this place was. [2/10]
That was when a grumpy voice called out to her. "What are you doing here woman?" The voice was grumpy and it came from a low angle. San looked down to see a turtle with a box shaped red shell staring her down with a grumpy look. "I've traveled here Konohagakure to make a contract yo!" She said with excitement and energy. The turtle seemed to scoff at her enthusiasm. "Ninja eh? Well you best go home outsider, we don't need your kind around here." San blinked at the words. Was a turtle really trying to tell her what to do? Also what did he have against ninja? "Can't do it Kame man," she snorted before crinkling her nose a bit. "I'm Sanae Uzumaki, Hokage of Konohagakure and I don't back down from a challenge." At that the turtle seemed to laugh as his grumpy look changed for the better. "You remind me of someone I once knew, and I suppose if you're really the Hokage I can't stop you from going forward... though my siblings might." San simply nodded before jumping back into the cool waters and swimming on. [3/10]
Swimming on through the waters she marveled at all the shifting islands in this great pond. So many large turtles and they all seemed to live in such peace. It was inspiring. It was something San wanted for the people of Konohagakure and the land of Fire at large. Thinking upon this as she swam towards the center, many thoughts loomed within San's mind. None more so than the need of which she had coming home with a pact made. This was her goal now, the thing which she must achieve. As it had been shown over and over again, San was not one who failed to reach her goals. [4/10]
As she continued to swim a turtle pulled up alongside her. He was about the same size as her and unlike the last turtle he seemed to be the kind she found at the beach. "What'cha doing?" he asked with rather slow words. "Swimmin yo!" San replied as she kept swimming. It was a bit of a comical encounter what with how fast San typically was in replying to things and how drowsy the turtle seemed. "I'm San what's your name?" she asked for the sake of politeness while they swam together. The turtle looked to her and seemed to smile at making a new acquaintance. "Why are you swimming San?" Just as slow as before though she thought that perhaps there was a bit of an upbeatness behind his voice now. "I thought it'd be more fun than walking to that big island. Say who's like the big cheese... or ugh big shell around around here?" she asked finally. "Oh that'd be our eldest brother Senakame... but he might get mad if you're not careful. Just try to be respectful in our home San. Thanks for swimming with me though." [5/10]
San just grinned as they separated and she continued to swim towards the center of the pond. Though she was actually becoming tired. It was honestly a lot bigger than what she had expected at first. It was also possible that the big island was moving away from her as she swam. With how large the area was it honestly wouldn't shock her. Coming across another of the small turtle islands, she crawled up out of the water to rest for a bit on the turtle's back. This was going pretty well so far at least. Still it seemed as if she a long long way to go still. After a quick nap San was ready to get swimming again. Taking a moment to yawn she dived into the water once more. [6/10]
Continuing on with her swim a great beast soon loomed on the horizon. Sitting atop of one of the larger islands he seemed to be more man shaped and was sitting still arms across his lap. Was he meditating? Approaching carefully San called out from the water. "Yo big T sorry if I'm interrupting but I could use some directions. My name is Sanae Uzumaki and I'm looking Senkame?" Slowly the giant turtle's opened and he looked down to see San's head poking up out of the water. He seemed to stare for a moment, probably thinking. She could respect that. Finally he spoke, "My brother is not one to speak with outsiders though I appreciate your candor and that you choose to swim as we do. Continue to respect our home and he may meet with you. Of course should you choose to disrespect it he may meet with you as well though it would not be on friendly terms. Also my name is Jikoku not "big T" he replied. San just grinned happily at the news that the big guy might meet with her. "Thanks for the help Jikoku! I definitely don't wanna respect your home so I guess I'll get there when I get there." [7/10]
With that she waved goodbye and continued on with her swimming. This was going well so far and it did seem like she was making progress. Maybe she wasn't any physically closer to the big island but it seemed as if who she met was increasing in importance. Or at least she was meeting older and older members of the turtle clan. Perhaps in time she would meet the elder of the brothers. It kinda reminded her of a parable her grandpa used to tell her when she was a child. About how the tortoise beat the hare in a race. All she had to do at this point was keep swimming it seemed. [8/10]
It was then a new island began to come near. Upon it was a turtle even bigger than the last. He could easily have filled a town square if she had to guess. "Yo! Sanae Uzumaki here, can you point me in the direction of Senakme? I wanna talk to him about making a pact." Like his brother this turtle seemed to pause while he thought. Indeed it seemed as if many of the turtles here liked to consider things before they acted. A very respectable trait. One that San harbored as well even if it didn't seem like it at times. "Senkame is intrigued by you Sanae. You claim to be a Hokage and yet you swim instead of walking on the water and seem to be filled with youthful enthusiasm and energy rather than being old wizened." San had to chuckle at that one. She was definitely not old and she was bursting with energy. But she was indeed a Hokage. However she could understand why they would be suspicious. "I've got my own style of doin s**t yo. I swam because I thought it'd be fun and then I learned that this was the home of you great turtles so I said ******** it lets keeps swimming. Does as the turtles do ya know?" The giant turtle seemed to nod. Apparently he agreed with her assessment. Given that she had remained rather respectful and even took a nap at one point she did not seem to be a threat but an outsider was still an outsider. Perhaps though, this one was worthy. "Very well, I think Senkame will meet with you." With a quick two fingered salute she was off again. [9/10]
Finally the biggest island seemed to actually be getting closer. To be honest she was actually starting to get rather tired again. So that was a nice change of pace. Finally she neared the massive island and a great head rose out of the water to look at her this was Senkame. "Greetings Sanae Uzumaki, I am Senkame and it seems that you would speak with me about creating a pact with us. Enlighten me on your intentions." San smiled at the fact that finally she was getting to meet with the eldest of the great turtles. Taking a moment to think upon her words carefully she organized her thoughts before speaking. "I'm so glad to meet you finally Senkame! I am the Hokage of Konohagakure and my village is in dire straights yo. I have come here to form a partnership with your clan and ask for your aid in helping me to protect my people. So I thank you for allowing me into your home and for meeting with me." [10/10] [Even rolled, trust gained]
Senkame paused as he considered her words. It was a big request and one which would put his family in danger. However the girl had been honest, forthcoming, respectful, and upfront about her desires. These were all positive traits and she seemed to being who was pure of heart. It seemed as if he could trust her. "Very well Sanae Uzumaki, you may sign our contract and call upon us for aid. Though I request one thing of you. Undergo a special training to learn how to be one with nature. Find the contract upon my back, the elders have it." With that being said he used a fin to help San up onto his back. Moving onto the island upon Senkame's back she walked over the surface and made her way inland. Eventually she could found the two elders and acquired the contract. They shared words and decided that San would need to return in a few days to undergo the training. For now she could return to her village. [Exit]
Returning to the land of the great turtles was far easier on the second trip than it had been on the first trip. Indeed she was actually given a ride to Senkame this time. "Yo Senkame good to see you again! I'm back for that special training." The great turtle simply provided his fin and allowed San to move onto his back. Approaching the two elders she came to find that they were simply sitting still and seemed to be meditating. [1/10]
San paused, studying them for a moment before Tarrapene opened her eyes and looked San over. "Come closer and take a seat child... this is going to take some time." Doing as the elder turtle bade, she stepped forward and knelt before the two. "So what's this special training yo?" Tarrapene suddenly smacked San over the head with a walking stick. "What the ********> Not really happy with the outcome San couldn't help but shout in response to the wack. "Keep quiet child... and listen." With a grumble San kept her mouth shut and simply tried to sit and hear. [2/10]
She heard much. Birds, insects, ripples in the pond as the Senkame moved. But what San was listening for escaped her. "That is nature child... or more accurately that is the energy created by all living things. You must learn to harness this energy by being still. San was definitely not really sure what any of that meant. "There's a dark presence within you child and for us to trust you, you must learn peace." That troubled San, hearing such news was disturbing and it made it hard to concentrate. Perhaps that was the intent? [3/10]
"You must learn to be wholly still only then will you be able to tap into the power of nature. Be wary though, if you do not pull in the natural energy of this place correctly I'm afraid you'll turn into a turtle and stone fwa fwa fwa fwa." San did not find that amusing but if this was what she needed to overcome than so be it. No matter what obstacles got in her way, San would do her part to drive the universe. Taking in some deep breaths she closed her eyes and tried to remain still. The moment she did so it seemed as if her nose had become incredible itchy. [4/10]
Why was it then when you tried to be still, everything seemed to want to move? This question plagued San. No matter how hard she tried to be still nothing seemed to work. An entire day passed and she felt like no progress had been made. Perhaps this was all just a test? It was a possibility but she saw little reason for the creatures to lie. The following day her training began anew. Settling into the position she began to try and become still yet again. Once more night came and went. On the third day in the middle of the afternoon she suddenly found herself hit with a stick. "Fwa fwa fwa child.... your cheeks were getting green. Did you feel it?" San thought for a moment. For a second there was a spark of inspiration but then it was lost. [5/10]
Perhaps there was more to this training than she had at first thought. The following day during training she began to experience a greater awareness. She could almost sense or smell the energy flowing around her. However after only a few second each time she was hit with a stick. But with the knowledge that her faith was rewarded, San found new motivation to continue learning. To continue growing. It was difficult and over time Terrapene explained how while all living beings produced energy both spiritual and physical the world itself produced its own energy. Living beings could learn to absorb this energy but only by being still like the earth. However true stillness for a living creature was feat few could truly achieve. This was the nature of becoming a sage. Being still and at peace was what she had to learn. [6/10]
Time continued to pass and on many occasions San was hit with the stick. It was rough and she was tired of eating the vegetarian options that turtles enjoyed. But progress was being made. Slowly she was becoming accustomed to the process and it was taking longer and longer before she needed the stick. As the elder had explained, they key was maintaining a certain ratio of natural energy to spiritual and physical energy. That natural energy itself felt pretty amazing though. It would be more amazing however when she could muster enough of it and hold onto it. [7/10]
As she became more accustomed to gathering the energy the elder began to make it harder for her to remain still. San was forced to undergo training while in conditions like sitting upon a log balanced atop a stone or by sitting upon the waters of the pond. Achieving balance in such settings was difficult by itself, let alone remaining still. Over time though she became better at it. Slowly but surely the training was paying off and San was growing into it. It was painful at times but even still she pressed on. [8/10]
The time in between getting hit was growing longer now. Pulling in the energy was going more smoothly as well. The training sessions only became more difficult but strangely enough San was grasping them easier and easier. It seemed things were coming to a head and despite all the worries of the world she had upon coming here, they all seemed to be fading away. Perhaps in the next couple of days she would finally get a solid grasp upon this method of utilizing energy. That she would become a sage. [9/10]
Finally one day at training San suddenly found that it was night. At first she thought that surely there must be something amiss. However upon seeing that Terrapene was fast asleep she realized that the entire day had passed while she was gathering energy. This was apparently what it meant to be a sage. Jumping off her perch she looked into the waters of the pond and could faintly see her reflection. There were a few abnormalities on her skin, but otherwise she looked normal. Gently waking the elder San smiled as the headed into her hut for dinner. The following morning San would leave the sage lands as she had finally learned to harness the power of a sage. [10/10] [Exit]
