Basically, Eir founds that the second Boss in the Spire is himself, resolve and all [to protect everyone--the description and the special effect on the rare weapon loot] and after it was beaten (any time now), he loses the ability to converse with his weapon, also the ability to dismiss/summon them from his heart. ICly it was some form of mental trauma, OOCly tweaking to adhere to Zone Weapon Synthesis Guide (read the text in red!)
