Just for a moment, Tayyib considered standing his ground, taking the next hit, and gambling all in a (hopefully) equally strong hit back.
The impulse passed, however. When he saw the still stronger blow headed his way, his feet had plans of their own. He danced out of the sword's range, then closed in quickly for a considerably lighter return strike.

When normal people would know when they were beat they would turn in the towel. Gerraden however was too stubborn to admit defeat, even if he felt like lifting that sword was probably the hardest thing he had ever done.
Wobbling as he went to swing, he was dimly aware it looked as if he may hit.

Tayyib stared at his opponent in some bewilderment. The other man was still standing, remarkably enough. Given how much Gerraden was wobbling, the hit came as a surprise, throwing off his aim as he closed in once more.

(no worries it takes a bit to get use to <3 I seriously want rp with Tayyib and Gerr though >3 )
Perhaps Gerraden was in the wrong class type...perhaps he should of been aiming at the beserker class as he seemed unable to stop his hard hits. With total concentration he was swinging that heavy blade with all his might, though there was less power behind it...his aim seemed to be getting truer.

(Thanks for being so understanding! And I'm totally down for stands rp with Gerraden and Tayyib or a PRP after the meta, whenever it's more convenient for you. <3)
As the battle continued, Tayyib could feel his steps dragging. It seemed as though his opponent's strength was finally flagging as well, though it was scant comfort now that his strikes were landing. Even with moving back to mitigate some of the damage, that last slash stung quite a bit.
Tayyib always thought he had excellent pain tolerance; he had always managed to work through the pains and aches incurred during rehearsal. This tournament match was teaching him otherwise. When he swung his sword toward the other fighter, his weapon fell wide of its mark. The long fight and the earlier injuries were taking a severe toll on his aim, he noted distantly.

Tayyib had dodged stronger blows than this, but this one would finish him off if he let it land. Desperation fueled one more burst of speed.
Dodging past Gerraden's sword entirely with a swiftness akin his old agility, the Leaf youth positioned himself to strike hard at the other prentice's side. Whether his attack landed or not, this was a match worth fighting, he thought, the protests from his existing injuries notwithstanding.

The poor boy, despite how hard he had tried, it just wasn't meant to be. Collapsing to one knee he knew when he was beat and though he felt disappointed, he knew he would just have to try harder to do better next time. He did last a very long time...and he dealt heavy hits...at least when they landed. Giving a tired grin he mouthed the words "good job" to his opponent before he managed to drag himself out of the ring to rest.
