That was it, that blow to the ribs was the end. It hadn’t been much really, not compared to what he would have suffered if this had been a real fight, but it was enough. As much as Aprife wanted to win so he could pick his friend’s head for all the promised secrets, his body just didn’t want to go anymore. Sighing out his defeat, he plopped straight onto his a** and hesitated there only for a second before his back hit the springy ground, too. There was a little dramatic flourish in the way his head lulled to the side as far as his horns would allow, hair following to cast his eyes in shadow.
”You win…” He admitted, sounding almost pouty in his muttering. "You win this time, but next time it’ll be all me.” Letting out a heartfelt groan, he laid there in the grass, still pouting, arm now lifting to drape over his eyes as he struggled to get his breathing in check.

The blueblood remained tense, even as he watched his friend go down. Only when he was sure that it wasn't some sort of bluff, did he ease up, and begin to stroll over. It had been a good fight, and a good work out! The poor b*****d had lost, but Zeffer was feeling generous, and a wide smirk grew on his face as Aprife mouthed off.
"Yeah, you just keep telling yourself that. Little harder when you don't have someone to shoot me down first, right?" The grin on Zeffer's face was maniacal, and he waited to see how the yellowblood would react to the jab.

There was no move to shoot up, it certainly wasn't a bluff, but at least without all the effort his breathing was finally, slowly evening out. Only when he could feel the vague vibrations signaling Zeffer's approach did he pull his arm away from his eyes, shooting the sharpest glare he could muster up at his victorious opponent. Not that it lasted long, not when he was trying to keep from laughing the next moment.
"Hey, hey, I pulled my own weight in that tournament... Pretty well, at least." There was a grunt of effort as Aprife sat up, rubbing the back of his neck. "She might have helped me out with you, but only a little bit. I coulda taken you down either way. Maybe." This was the only time he'd break his surrender, swiping at his friend's ankle with his hand in a friendly, but competitive gesture.
"I guess you're not gonna tell me that secret, then, huh?" If he was lucky, and tried, would he get it regardless? The yellowblood wasn't sure he could manage woofbeast eyes, but if it would get him what he wanted anyway, he'd be willing to pull out all the stops. For now, he stuffed that idea in his back pocket and waited.

"Suuuuure. You're just a little off today, right? We'll have to go again tomorrow. I really wanna see you do that." Zeffer's tone was dripping with sharp, playful sarcasm, and after a moment, he tossed himself down next to his friend. Giving Aprife a playful shove for the swipe, he relaxed again and stretched out, wincing slightly at the sting the yellowblood's whip had left on various spots. It had been a fine match, in Zeffer's eyes, and a wonderful opportunity for less serious play; none of his neighbors ever seemed interested, and he couldn't imagine why.
"Oh yeah, the secret." Zeffer smirked, as if he'd forgotten about it in the heat of the fight. Honestly, he'd only offered it to ensure Aprife's cooperation, even though he probably could have gotten it anyway, without laying something on the line. In this instance, granting Aprife what he wanted wouldn't serve as a loss, and so he shrugged. "You're a good sport. I guess I could still tell you, if you wanted." He smirked, knowing that the yellowblood's reaction would likely be a positive one.

"What?! No way!" The laugh he offered was carefree, enough that he curled slightly in on himself, wrapping his arms around his knees. Tomorrow felt like only moments away at this point (though it wasn't). That wasn't enough time to recover well enough to win against a spar partner as rambunctious as Zeffer. No, Aprife was sure he didn't have the energy.
What he did have the energy for, though, was presented to him only moments later, and without any expectations. This was real, right? Pinch him, he had to be dreaming.
"Hey, hey, hey... You're really gonna tell me?" Dark eyes nearly sparkled at the idea, a better assurance for Zeffer than any that he most certainly wanted, if not needed, the secret. He'd never be wholly satisfied until he got it. Who cared if he was the loser and didn't quite earn it, right? "Like hell I'd say no. Lay it on me, please man, c'mon." Maybe he couldn't pull off woofbeast eyes, but Aprife's figurative tail was wagging a mile a minute now.
