Jolly Roger rolled to a stop at the bottom of the stairs. “Arrr!” He yelled vehemently, struggling against the rug still holding him in place. “You’ll swing when I’m through with you! You’ll walk the plank! You’ll marry a shark! You bilge rat, scurvy dog house!”He eventually ran out of breath and curses. With his anger spent, Jolly Roger was left with only the fear. Would you ever see his crew again?

" Oh, hey, bro!" Roc bit into the carpet and tugged to free Jolly. " I'm glad you're not a skeleton! I'm surprised you stuck it out, I thought you would've bailed on me." He gave the carpet a hard yank. " Oh, I mean..." he cleared his throat and scrunched one eye shut (though, no one would even know but him). " Arr, I feared ye fled like a-a... rat offa sinkin' ship." Roc sat down relieved and started snorting a laugh. " I read Treasure Island, too, bro."

With Roc's help, Jolly Roger managed to wriggle free of the carpet. He sat back against the wall and took in a deep breath. In a very rare event, a very faint smile appeared on Jolly Roger's face but it was gone quicker than a flash and then it was back to scowling again. "Aye bucko, well, let's move smartly. I've had about enough of this place."If they got out of this alive, he was coming back with cannons and fire.

" I'm with you there," Roc nodded. " But I think this house isn't going to just let us go out the front door. If we can find the window we came in from, that might be our safest bet." Roc looked around, he didn't recognize anything from this part of the bottom floor. " Do you remember which direction it was down here?" he asked Jolly.

Jolly Roger was quiet. "Nay..." He finally said, obviously not wanting to admit his had no idea where he was in relation to anything else in this house. His tumble down the stairs had definitely muddled his mind a bit. But if he was going to be a captain one day, he was going to need to take some sort of charge. "This way." If they kept moving, surely they'd find some way of escaping.

" You know what this place needs?" Roc followed alongside Jolly, helping to light the way. " Something red, gold, and orange. Like fire." Roc imagined playing a lively power ballad while the whole of the house made a cheery inferno in the background of a fantastical music video. The whole image would be complete with some pyrotechnics and maybe a few superimposed rearing stallions. " Yup," he agreed with his own mental image. "I say, if we make it out alive you and me, we come back with some gasoline, matches... and some lawn chairs so we can watch in comfort." Roc decided to give up on the machismo momentarily to be grateful. " Still, I'm glad you're here with me. It would've really massively sucked more, bro, if I was here by myself. I'm glad you stuck around with me, even though you don't know me. My name's Roc N Rolls, by the way. If you make it out of here and I don't, tell my old man he can eat my leftover pizza rolls in the fridge."

Obviously not big on talking, the pirate stared straight ahead with his customary scowl throughout the one-sided conversation, only interjecting twice with, "Aye, we'll burn it down" and "Jolly Roger." He wouldn't admit it out loud, but he was happy he had found Roc. Having a partner down in here in the dark gave him hope of escape and he knew he wouldn't have been able to live with himself if he had simply left. Together they would get out, Jolly Roger would make Roc an honorary pirate crew member and then they would come back and tear this place down. A painting on the side of the wall caught his attention and he nudged Roc, so they could put more light on it. Jolly Roger blinked. It was a picture of... them.

" Oh, I think I see a window!" Roc pointed out ahead and to the left. " It might not be the one we came in from, but I'm not picky." Roc went on ahead a few paces to scope it out, then tore down the drapes. He wasn't taking any chances with skeletons this time. Fortunately, it was clear. " Let's get the heck outta here, bro," Roc offered a boost up. Roc learned that rainy, thundering day that things weren't quite so scary when there was someone to help you get through a difficult situation. And that next time, he knew a friend to call on for help... and that he'd better bring more supplies when going on an expedition. Like an axe and lit torches.

Syrcaid Yes of course! Sorry, I just realised this is Roc's last RP! ;o; Go forth and grow bucko! This time Jolly Roger accepted the boost and he was on hand to help Roc follow him out. It was with a sigh of relief that the young pirate hustled away from the haunted house. But he was also proud that he'd stuck by his... friend. Yes, he would admit that, but only to himself.
