Twenty it would be, then; Ever disappearing from her sight to, presumably, wind his way out back. When she finally followed, though, she wouldn't find him there -- no. Instead it would be a tall and surprisingly-intimidating man in a dark green coat, the hat pulled low on his face, halfway-obscuring his expression. From beneath it, his cigarette would glow red, lighting up as he drew in smoke. Ever hadn't been impressive in any way. Surprising how much a uniform could do. He looked up as the door opened, eyes narrowed against the burst of light behind her and smoke escaping from his mouth.

Lila narrowed her eyes. This was, as far as she could tell, not the man she'd been speaking with before. She wasn't exactly inclined to trust people in dark alleys, especially ones that showed up in weird Soviet military uniforms.
She drew herself up, putting a hand on her hip and raising her eyebrows. "I'm here," she said, a total lack of fear in her voice. If this went south, well, she had mace.

"Being here is a choice, I'd say." He ditched his cigarette, and in a breath he was in front of her -- reaching out, not to grab her, but to slide fingers through the thin cloth over her chest, through the thin layer of flesh, through fat and muscle and bone and into the core of her. They wrapped around the seed that was, he thought, her soul. It hurt like hell. It hurt worse than anything she'd ever felt before. And he had enough experience now to set a hand across her mouth to keep her from crying out and attracting unwanted attention. "It only takes a moment." But it felt like a very long moment...

Lila wasn't sure what she'd expected. A hand in her chest wasn't it - and neither was the pain as soon as his hands wrapped around something inside of her, sometihng she hadn't even known was there.
Something that felt like the core of her being.
It was a good thing he had a hand over her mouth, or she definitely would've attracted quite a bit of attention screaming as chaos coursed through her. Once it was done, though...she felt different.
Stronger. And she was no longer Delilah Masters. She was -- something more.

"I never promised it would be painless." He lifted his hand slowly, carefully, lingering to make sure she wasn't going to scream now before he let go of her. It would serve. All things considered, her outfit wasn't even that impractical. He could approve. Now, though, he regretted the drama that had left a half-smoked cigarette sitting on the ground, and leaned down carefully to pick it up -- trying to decide if it was too gross to start smoking again. It was a cigarette. It was gross either way. He drew in smoke, considering her. "How's it feel?"

The pink-haired girl took several deep breaths, body shaking slightly, but she didn't scream. It was a little late for screaming now.
"That hurt like a ********," she said, "and there is no less colorful way to describe it. Jesus, did somebody do that to you and you just felt the need to share?" Still, she couldn't stop patting and brushing at her new dress, her new vest, her new badass boots and sexy fishnets and...paper fans. She snapped one open, and sighed. "I fell...strange. Different. A little disappointed when the rest of the outfit is so badass and the capoff is this," she held up one of her shiny new fans.

"They'll get better." Absently, Ilmenite summoned his own weapon; silver and gold and mother of pearl, the bolas spun easily around two fingers before disappearing again. He'd been at this long enough that he could handle them, now. He could throw them, and he could throw them with decent aim. Not that he'd had much field practice in a while -- or, well, at all -- "The uniform is nice, though." He stepped in closer, slowly, to adjust her tie, the gesture nothing at all like the flirtatious men she was used to at the bar. More like her father. A big brother. "Erythrite. Not bad. We all get stone names, I don't know why. You should check out what yours looks like." A pause, and then he rippled out of his uniform, back into civilians. He wanted another cigarette. "Just think about it to change back."

Erythrite raised her eyebrows, examining the gorgeous bolas. "How long did it take you to get those?" She could envision how paper fans might change, evolve - and she liked the thought. A weapon that was feminine, graceful - but still deadly.
"Yeah, I have to say, I'm impressed." She glanced down again. "I can even go out in this and not look weird." Well, not too weird. It wasn't usual club wear, but it would attract attention the right way, she suspected. And then, she took a breath and focused on herself, and the uniform dissapeared and Delilah was back.
"Thank you for showing me a very good time."

"We should meet up again. I can show you the ropes." As she changed back to civvies, Ilmenite did the same; all the poise and certainty of his office melting away as he went from green coat and hat to the battered, faded salvation army clothes again. Steel toes melted into boots barely held together my duct tape. Even his hair seemed to get messier. His grin, though, stayed the same, easy and unashamed. Clothes didn't make the man, after all. "You have duties now, you know. Have to bring in the energy. Fight the senshi when they get under your hair. We can do a basic training whenever you'd like."

Lila nodded. "I'd appreciate that, a lot," she said. She was jumping headfirst into something she was totally unfamiliar with - but somehow she knew it was going to be very worth it. She nodded as he listed off duties that seemed strange and unfamiliar to her.
Gathering energy. Fighting Senshi. She preferred the first to the second, all things considered. "Basic training would be great," she said. She was in an army now, or at least that was the sense she got.
So basic training it would be.

There was a pause, a beat, and then a flash of a grin -- helpless. Ever fished his phone out of his pockets, turning it between his fingers for a long moment before he offered it over to her. "You can call me anytime. I mostly work evenings, or late, so I can manage whenever..." A slow shift, and then a shrug. He was still grinning, though. "But you better take the number out of this, because I am totally s**t at working this thing. And maybe put yours in..."

Lila reached into her purse and pulled out her phone, and then took his, looking very amused. "I can do that," she said, and surprisingly quickly given that she was doing it one-thumbed, got both numbers into the phones.
"Way too much practice," she qualified, offering his back. "I'll call you tomorrow, alright?"

"Like I said -- any time. And I mean it." But he hesitated after he said it, taking the phone back and turn it between his fingers. Slow, contemplative. "Just.... call, okay? none of that text message garbage. I always ******** that up, somehow." And that was that. He took a step back, easy, relaxed -- one of his better awakenings, to be honest. no slaps across the face or screaming, no temper tantrums or flashingly angry eyes. Ideal.

Lila laughed. "I'll call, I promise," she said, and then he pulled out her phone and actually made a note of it so she'd remember. Her instinct was usually to send a text message, but when a specific request was made...
"You owe me quite a lot of information, I think," she said, raising her eyebrows. She was curious, mostly. He'd given her power - she wanted to know what the hell she could do with it.

"Tomorrow." He thumbed his nose, wobbling just a little as he stepped back again. He was hiding it, maybe, but that had taken it out of him, and now he just wanted a drink. A drink and to settle down next to Zac, maybe. "Don't tell anyone." And then he turned and slipped out of the alley, whether she liked it or not. She could wait twenty-four hours.
