Camelot wondered what he had gotten in the middle of. A spear and a squishy target, he had assumed, and that was worth it, but Zia kept angering Painite further, which was not what Camelot really wanted to deal with at the moment. He kept his focus on the Negaverse General, though, holding up his shield protectively. He did glance to see her starting to run off, though.

"Wait!" he yelped, looking back at Painite and then moving to follow Zia.

It was hard to run after her and try to keep his shield up and keep an eye on Painite as well. Where was she going anyway? He was not a cat, and could not climb as nimbly as she could! Just trying would have him scrambling and tripping all over the place, and he knew Painite would over take them in short order.

Painite knew the same thing, and gave chase to them immediately, yelling furious obscenities as she did so.

Even on light paws She let out a light grunt when she landed on the pavement, and then glanced around for Camelot, who had fallen behind. "Come on, you can do it, this way!" She encouraged.

The vacant dance studio was her target right now, only now she had to wait for Camelot's butt to hurry up, lest he be speared in her defense.

"Don't worry about anything, just move!"

Camelot puffed as he ran after her, though he was still worried about the Negaverse General chasing after them. As well he should have been, because she was not going to let them get away that easily. She hated Camelot, but Zia had infuriated her past the point of reasonable thinking.

Which, admittedly, was not that far of a stretch for her these days, but still. She was mad, furious even, and she was not going to let them get away if she could help it.

"Run as much as you want, you can't get away from me!" Painite called behind them, hooting and laughing wildly.

"Where are we going?" Camelot asked, running as fast as he could so he could catch up to her. He ran just behind her, keeping pace as best he could, though she was very fast.

There wasn't too much distance, save for the trip from roof to ground. Zia hadn't picked this spot randomly.

She pushed on a back alley door with already loosened hinges and ran into the darkness, which, unfortunately, might've given Painite some amount of time to catch up since the scramble had to be paused for half a second to get inside.

A dance studio might've seemed random, but Zia remembered enough of childhood dance lessons to recall an important aesthetic of the workout floors.

"This way," She just repeated in response to Camelot's question, and grabbed his arm as she pulled him through a doorway. That wasn't a doorway. The mirrored gym wall had been her plan all along.

"Good luck, Painite."

But the sounds she made on the other side were a lot less confident, flopping onto the hardwood floor and groaning in over dramatic exhaustion. "OH MY GOD, YOU'RE HEAVY!" She complained, sounding out of breath as she powered down to a normal civilian.

She had mirrors all over the place, but unfortunately Camelot needed a much bigger space to come through, and the only mirror she could really remember offering such width was in her mother's penthouse, which was thankfully abandoned while Caroline was out of the country.

Zia slogged over to turn on the lights to the lavish, high storied apartment and flop on the sofa face first in exhaustion.

Camelot kept pace with her, helping her with the back alley door when he caught up to her there. A glance over his shoulder showed Painite catching up to them in those few moments of stillness, and he hurried to get her moving.

"Our companion is catch up!" he said, as they slipped into the building. He shut the door behind them and a spear slammed into it, bursting through and nearly getting him.

He yelped and moved to follow Zia, trying not to lose her in the darkness.

"Where are we...?"

Then she grabbed him and he was moving through water? Something thicker than water, maybe. It made him panic after a beat, he didn't think he could breath, where ever he was. He struggled despite himself, having never traveled by mirror before, and when he was spat out on the other side of it he drew a ragged breath, rolling over onto his side and gasping.

He looked around, eyes wide in confusion and fear. He took a slower breath to steady himself, it finally catching up to him that he was fine.

"Where are we? What did you do there?"

"It's called mirrorwalking. Trippy as hell, huh?" Zia mumbled through the pillow, and then raised on stiff arm to point at him. "Could you power down? I don't want Caroline's apartment to show up on any nega radar and she will probably flip if someone throws a spear through the wall."

She managed to pull herself up with an exaggerated and tired groan and flop over the back of the couch to look at him.

"It's magic. We can move through reflective surfaces like doors to another one. Catch is I had to carry you through dimensional space and now I kind of hurt all over."

She shrugged a bit. "So uh. Thanks for not letting me die? I'd call this even."

But after another pause. "But seriously, don't scuff the hardwood, Caroline's a freak for appearances. She should be in London this month so she's not gonna pop in or nothing, though."

"I thought I was dying," Camelot said, his armor clanking a bit as he tried to get his s**t together. He looked himself over but there were no injuries to be worried about, and he was breathing easier now. He had not really been drowning, anyway, it turned out. She'd just pulled him through a mirror.

No harm done.

"Oh, ah, yes, of course," he stammered, and powered down as asked. He looked at her sheepishly, shaking his head. "I'm sorry, that was just a bit.. ah... well... trippy, I guess."

He looked down at his feet and saw a few scuffs where his armor had hit the floor. He cleared his throat and glanced away, pretending he didn't see that. He moved a bit closer to her, motioning for her to lay down on the sofa.

"Do you need me to get anything? You should rest, if it's taken that much out of you. I'm sorry, I must not be the lightest person to have to drag through a mirror."

"Oh... sorry about that," Zia said, clearing her throat, and then laughed. "I can see how being pulled through mirrorspace without any warning can give the impression of drowning. And also mirrorspace is full of Chaos and monsters since Ares went and turned it into the DMC base of operations."

She lazily waved him off with dramatic flopping motions, but she still laid back down on the couch. "Nah, I just need to catch my breath. I guess I'm rusty. And also that was a lot of running, and energy flares are tiring even without someone flipping out and throwing her spears everywhere, ugh. But no, I'm good, and I'd rather not raid the fridge and clue my mom into figuring out I visited anyway."

She pulled out her phone and started flipping through pictures, trying to figure out which blur was Painite.

"Did you know they don't know their real names?" She asked while she made faces at the phone screen.

"That was a lot of running," Tony said in agreement, looking at her in wonder. It was all strange to him, being able to travel through mirrors, to walk close to where the darkness was, to where chaos ran rampant.

He was worried about her, for many reasons, and not just her penchant for pissing off negaverse generals.

"The Negaverse? That makes sense, I suppose. As far as I know, they're not connected to their past... to who they could have been, or what they were supposed to be. They get cut off from it by Chaos." He thought that was what happened, anyway. He had never experienced it, but he had seen the impact it had on people he cared about. Corruption, anyway. The way it changed, even destroyed memories.

He watched her, though, and he smiled, shaking his head. He moved to find a blanket to give her, succeeding and hoping to make her comfortable.

"I know this quest for information is important to you, but be careful, okay? I mean, don't get yourself killed out there..."

"Well given the way Chaos works... I mean, you can't be plugged in to two outlets at once," Zia said with a shrug at the concept of the Chaotic factions being removed from their past. "I guess it's just... when Zirconia was corrupted she still knew who she was, yanno? Maybe it's different if they wake up that way and it's all they know."

The entire concept depressed her more than she thought it would. The information and the theory gleaned from it was a nice little prize in her mind, but to think a being could wake up in darkness and never know anything else was not only possible, but likely common, was...

She grabbed the blanket and childishly sunk into the sofa like a lazy loaf of a human, in spite of earlier protests to keep the owner from knowing she'd been here. "Oh, I'll be fine," She snorted, giving him a bit of a wave off. "Besides, there are all kinds of heroes to rescue silly cats stuck in trees," She joked, shallowly and flippantly, and let her head hit the pillow. "Lock up when you go!"

Tony nodded his head and watched her as she hunkered down in the sofa, shaking his head and smiling softly. He hoped she was right, that she would be fine, and he would follow up with her on that as soon as he could. He was worried and he would continue to be.

Forever.

She would have a hard time getting rid of him now, as he considered himself a part of her family and her life, and he just wanted to make sure that she was okay. And what was the harm in that? Everyone needed an over bearing fatherly type in their lives, even if they were already well stocked on parents. He never let that stop him before.

"Just be careful, okay? I care about you, and I'd hate to see you get hurt. " He shook his head and moved to the door, letting himself out. He was still feeling a bit light headed from the adrenaline rush. At the end of the day, this had all been a bit strange and overwhelming. He was just glad they'd gotten out of there without being hurt.

Physically, anyway.

Hands in his pockets, he made his way to the street, to find his way back to his home from here. He didn't power up, thinking he needed the walk to clear his head a bit.
