"Concussion. Nothing came up on the scan but she'll need to be observed for a couple of hours just to be on the safe side." Boaz inclined his head in Hafwen's direction, still curious as to the nature of Richard's relationship with her but not in any real hurry to get that sorted out with other more pressing matters that required his immediate action and attention. "It's nothing really. No trouble at all. I'm just glad that my knowledge and skills could come in handy at times like this when a friend is in need of some medical attention."

And he truly meant every word that he had said. As morbid as it might seem, he was thankful for the opportunity to prove his worth to the same senior officer, who was once a Lieutenant like himself and patiently accommodated his requests in taking him through everything he needed to know post-corruption, after the sorely lacklustre performance he had come away with from the carnival itself. It was something that had been weighing heavily on his mind for awhile now. Energy gathering was just something that he needed to get used to. Starseed removing however was another matter altogether and didn't seem to sit entirely well with him.

"Good. I'll hail a cab so that we can get you home and settled proper for the rest of the evening." He tucked that particular thought at the back of his mind for now though, opting to distract himself with what he needed to do for Richard as he hovered like a hawk over the older redhead, ready to intervene should he start to feel faint or show any sign of unsteadiness that would deem him unfit to move around without any form of support. He looked at him for a long while when he posed his question with regards to the evening's events, half wondering if it was the sedative making him talk like this as he contemplated shrugging it off so that he could get back to his self appointed task of getting him out of the hospital and home as soon as possible.

Silence hung in the air between both men for the next couple of seconds, sapphires meeting rubies before he gave a soft sigh followed by his answer. "To be honest Richard, I don't know. I mean... isn't it our duty to protect the civilians? What happened out there, with all due respect, seemed to have gone against all that..." He averted his gaze, an unreadable expression on his face as he tried not to give in to the emotions that were threatening to break through his impassive facade. "It was a massacre."

He tried to focus on reminding himself that there had to be a reason behind Richard's questioning. Noone could have walked away from all that and remained the same. "We can talk more about it if you want. Just not here." That had to be it then. This wasn't about him. If the older man needed to talk because of how all of this were affecting his psyche, he would be there the entire way to help him through it. He could always tend to himself much later.

"Don't worry... I'm certain that your medical expertise will be extremely useful in the days to come, and your bedside manner is much more desirable than that of Captain Mica's." Richard said, and he meant every word of that too. He'd rather be left for dead than to be Mica's, or Nyasa's patient, and Boaz certainly offered him a better alternative should he ever get himself in need of a patch-up job again. In which case he hoped was never again, as he resisted the urge to poke at his stitches and failed to hide the grimace. "I do hope these don't scar over... no one likes scars on hands or limbs, and I haven't got the body to warrant such a thing."

A trivial thing to complain about, if there ever was some, when there was plenty dead, or dying, thanks to them. He didn't object Boaz's suggestion, given that he was in no condition to either walk, drive himself, or teleport, as he could barely even walk straight. The moment his feet hit the ground, he almost went tumbling down to the ground. Thankfully, he had not only the gurney but Boaz to latch onto, and he didn't mean to hang onto him like he did, but the drugs seemed to finally be catching up top him, now that he didn't have fair Hafwen to be strong for. Either way, he held onto Boaz for his dear life, as though if the rest of his body hit the floor it was game over, and it was the perfect opportunity to shower Boaz with some praise, at least. "Look at me, all lalaloopsy and swept off my feet but such a lovely doctor... falling for you, Boaz, so you better be careful."

His jest was to hide the bulk of his own turmoil, and despite his awkward position, he was serious, as he pulled himself back to his feet. "You're right, though... here is not the place to discuss this. Which is why I'm inviting you to my place... don't worry, it's not gonna be any of that, I promise. There we'll discuss this matter there... sound like a plan?"

"Oh? You mean that Captain Mica's also a doctor?" It should come as no surprise that an organization as established as the Negaverse would have, among its officers, people who were medically trained like Boaz himself given the hazards that they had to face in the course of their duties. This was the first time that he came across the name of one who was possibly trained in a similar manner and he couldn't help being naturally curious with regards to the Captain's background if Richard was personally acquainted with him or her.

"It probably won't but even if it does, it's not at a questionable site and can be easily explained by a domestic accident that could have happened to just anyone." He reassured the older redhead, already moving in quickly to slip his arms around his waist and leaning back a little so as to take the other man's weight onto himself. "I got you. Let's get you to the wheelchair so that you can rest easy while the effects of the medication take its time in wearing off shall we?" Giving Richard a couple of seconds to steady himself, he pat his back, trying to guide him to the wheelchair since he couldn't quite see the both of them making it through the crowd to the exit like this with the flurry of activities outside.

"You already know that I don't swing that way on the day when we first met Richard. Besides, I would highly recommend that you refrain from engaging in any strenuous physical activity for the next day or two at least so as to give your wound ample time to heal." He joked, having already caught on to what the older man was alluding to given the circumstances of their very first meeting a couple of months back when he tried to mislead him into thinking that he had been taken advantage of while he was unconscious following his corruption. He had absolute faith that he too could tell what he meant by strenuous physical activity short of spelling it out explicitly and risk embarrassing himself as a result of it.

"Let's go then."

Could probably wrap this in another post or two and start a new thread with them at Richard's place? =3

Richard gave a solemn nod, addressing the matter with surprisingly little interest, but then again, he did not hold Mica, nor Nyasa, in such high regards. He respected her, in a way... but he was also terrified of her, and he had every reason to be at times. "Was. She was training to be an EMT at some point, so I'd suspect she'd know a thing or two about medicine. However, I'd much rather go to you than her... she might try to make it worse... or maybe just with me. Either way, not taking the chance."

He was certain that she hated him but tolerated him if only to keep the roof over her head, but it was easy to push such troubling thoughts to the back of his head, especially with Boaz being so damned helpful! It was hard for him not to want to topple on top of him and play around, but the idea of seriously hurting him and thus extending their visit made him compliant, and he worked on keeping his balance, both for his sake and for Boaz. His point was made clear, and while Richard respected it, he continued to tease him harmlessly. "Oh, you're no fun... you'd make a guy so happy. As for that last part, I don't think it's physically possible and there'd be a lot of broken hearts to mend, but... I will do my best."

Not have sex for the next two days? Richard was not looking forward to that at all. But orders were orders, and he knew better than to risk reopening the wound. They moved onto the wheelchair and Richard flopped down, surprised that he had even managed to get that far and knowing exactly who to thank for it, too. He cast a fleeting glance towards Hafwen, pushing aside his guilt and turning away from her with a nod towards his comrade. "I've had enough of hospitals to last me awhile... promise me, Boaz, that if you ever set up a clinic, do try to make it more... uh... lively in appearance, than this place? Maybe some flowers, or books... or toys to keep patients occupied?"

"I see. Well, you've seen what I can do so if you ever need anything at all, just drop me a line and I'll be there as soon as I can." Boaz nodded as well, observing the shift in Richard's tone and taking it to mean that he probably had some bad experiences prior with the Captain. It went without saying that it would be highly unprofessional of her if she were to harm the redhead when he needed her expertise but he held his tongue on that, thinking it wise to drop the topic for now although he was very much curious as to who she was and why Richard had such an adverse reaction to her.

Chuckling at Richard's teasing, he shook his head, carefully easing him into the wheelchair before taking a step back from him. "You're incorrigible Richard. I'm sure that your friends will understand if you explain your circumstance to them." Once he was sure that the older man was settled proper in the wheelchair, he moved to take hold of its handles, glancing down to check that the brakes were off before he started pushing him out of the room proper. "Point taken. I give you my word on that though I highly doubt that it'll come to pass since I'll probably remain with the public service sector for a long while." He paused for a bit, having noticed the look that crossed Richard's face when he looked Hafwen's way yet again. "She'll be fine. I'll get the nurse to come in and check on her on our way out."

Was she one of his..? Nah, she seemed way too young.

No worries! I think that this's a good place for a wrap on my part. We can have that heart to heart talk between them both at Richard's house next? ^^

"Don't worry... I'm certain she has the proper skills to address the wounds, but your bedside manner is much nicer than hers. Without a doubt," Richard said with a wry smile, more than happy to be out of that emergency room. Away from Hafwen and away from the guilt... his greatest regret was that he could not drown in his conscious in booze until the medication wore off, or it was back to the hospital for him. "If you ever meet her, I'll suggest not talking so much... I don't think she's interested in having friends much."

He did not mean for so much of his concern to be seen, but since the cat was out of the bag, he wouldn't hide it. He leaned back into the wheelchair with a sigh, closing his eyes and wanting nothing more than to make it home and sleep this night away, if his conscious would let him anyways. "Of course she'll be alright. She's a tough one, that one. I'm sure I will see her again, real soon."

Maybe he was deluding himself, but it was a matter he couldn't bring himself to think about. Not here. Maybe once they were home, safely within the walls of his apartment and Nyasa's room remained empty. Maybe then he'll get the chance to let this matter off his chest, but for now, he pretended to doze off. He hated hospitals with a passion...
