More than content to keep things slow, she followed Gale's pace step for step. "Of course," she agreed, smiling. "More magic, less chaos for a night. Off island hopefully?" The cruise ship mission reminded Stormy how much of a breath of fresh air it could be to take a day off...Especially with the promise of dinner. Deus food wasn't always top notch after all.
As Gale added his warning, she leaned her head against his shoulder, glancing up at him. "What, not allowed a revenge mission?" she half teased softly before diverting to something different quickly. "I suppose I could just train until you get back. Miss Candace set up new challenges. She's already seen my handiwork, thooooouuuugh...If she asks after a certain pair of shoes, you have no idea where they are," she added with a wink. "I think she's attached to them, if Twitter says anything.
"But don't worry so much. The faster you get this done, the faster you can come back. Are you going alone?"

"Yes, off island," said Gale. "I had an idea in mind, but it wasn't quite that fleshed out yet, I was hoping to figure more of it out today and, well, here I am."
He felt her head against his shoulder and resisted the urge to smile because it was such a casual thing, such a normal reaction to have one's girlfriend move closer, but it was still so new that every little thing she did made him feel stupidly happy, stupidly pleased.
"No revenge yet," he admonished, but it was gentle, lightly teasing. "And yes, I know nothing," Gale added, grinning a little. His grin faded slightly at her last question, Gale slowing to a stop a short distance away from the Lighthouse.
"Unfortunately," he said. "Or maybe fortunately, because I can get by without distraction. I'll be communicating with a tech back here through a headset, but yeah, I'll be going alone."
He leaned over and kissed her forehead, sighing. "But hopefully it'll only be for a day or two."

"Yessssss~" There was a little bounce in her step knowing she'd get to go to the Human World, though it took much of Stormy's restraint to not question him on what he knew thus far for plans. It needed to be a surprise--that's where half the magic came from! But God it was hard for her naturally probing nature to restrict itself, especially since it was siding with that part of her that really did not want this mission to be happening right now.
As Gale slowed down, so did she, not questioning the check in motion because she would steal as much time as possible. Her mouth quirked with mixed emotion knowing he'd be alone, but . . . Then again, he probably had done solo missions before anyway. And she knew for a fact that being in a group did not guarantee safety whatsoever . . . "Hopefully," she echoed back as he kissed her forehead, giving Gale an encouraging look (or so she hoped). "But don't sigh too much, Gale. Breathe." Stormy gestured to herself with an upwards motion as she sucked a long one through her nose and exhaled slowly out of her mouth. "Every time you sigh, you lose a little bit of your better self and get more of a bitter self. So stay better, not bitter, okay? At least for me?"
She paused, then started to idly smooth out Gale's coat with her free hand, even in places that did not have a wrinkle.

Gale deliberately sighed again, just to tease her, and then smiled, reaching up his hands to cover hers where they were fussing at his coat, wrapping his fingers around hers and holding them against his chest.
"Better not bitter," he agreed, and pulled her hand up, kissing her fingertips affectionately. "Fine, fine, I'll work on it."
He did not want to go, but the portal was waiting, and he'd felt his phone vibrate twice already, most likely with you're late texts. Gale squeezed Stormy's hand, not quite letting go yet because letting go meant leaving and leaving meant not seeing her and not seeing her meant - well, suckiness.
"Let me know what happens with Nevada, all right?" he said. "You can still text me, let me know how things are going, and I want to make sure she's recovering and that you're doing well too."

The affectionate motion surprised her--it wasn't like she had been stalling for time or anything--and Stormy found herself flushing a bit before her smile caught up. "I'll keep you up to date on everything," she told him with a nod, her fingertips curling as if shy. "You'll get, like, fifty texts from me and then you're allowed to sigh because wow Stormy, clingy much? God." She gave a soft self-drepreciating laugh.
Her fingertips uncurled, and the three inner fingers reached out to lightly land on Gale's lips. "En el nombre del Padre," she recited, standing on her toes to kiss Gale's forehead, "del Hijo," then a kiss to his nose, "y del Espiritu," right cheek, "Santo," left cheek, "amen." Stormy hesitated, then simply slipped her hand out of Gale's grasp, quickly pulling him into a brief but tight hug--almost a bear hug but not quite--resisting the urge to put her head over his shoulder because then she'd never let him leave.
"Be careful and stay focused," she added as she pulled away. "Because if you aren't, I'm gonna come rain all over your parade when you get back~"

"I am totally, completely, very okay with clingy," said Gale, smiling - but then his smile faltered a bit at her fingers against his lips, his face flushing a deep red. His heart gave a nervous, delighted skitter as she kissed his forehead and then his nose and ten both of his cheeks, and in spite of the fact that he was leaving on a mission and Nevada was still in the Infirmary, he felt stupidly, ridiculously pleased at the current moment.
He wrapped his arms around Stormy and held on tightly, lifting her a little off her feet before he set her back down and she pulled away, Gale not wanting to let go just yet.
"And when I get back, Nevada will be awake, we'll have our first date - and with it, our first official, real, magical kiss," said Gale, and smiled, leaning forward to kiss Stormy's cheek. Then, reluctantly, he stepped back, pulling himself from her grasp, although he kept holding onto her hand even when he was several steps away.
"Don't find another boyfriend while I'm away," he added teasingly, eyes twinkling.

She couldn't help but giggle a little at how quickly he turned red, quite pleased with the effect she had on him, and the giggle turned into an actual laugh as he briefly pulled her off her feet--she even had time to wiggle them just a bit before she was set back down. "Great! Because I won't let you go once you come back, not for a whole week," Stormy warned him with a grin, humming at the kiss to her cheek. "And all of these things will happen or I call shenanigans."
Gale's hand was wiggled. "Now why would I do that? I'll be too busy thinking about that magical dinner date, silly~" And training. And thinking about her future as a hunter. But mostly fawning over idle thoughts of a magical night.
Most reluctantly, however, she had to slide her hand out of his and leave him be. "Text me when you get back, okay? I'll be waiting~"

"I look forward to it," said Gale, swinging their linked hands because he still didn't want to let go, not yet, not quite yet. "I expect to be fully in your care when I return, so don't let me down."
It was with a great deal of reservation that he let her hand go, Gale's finger still tingling a little as he dropped his own hand to his side. "I'll text you while I'm there too," he said. "Lots of texts about how dull it is and how much I wish I was back with you and how much I would rather see Caelius' head on a pike rather than be there."
Gale took two steps backwards, towards the lighthouse, but he was still looking at Stormy. Lifting his hand, he pressed it to his lips and blew her a kiss, smiling/
"Keep me posted, Watson."

"You take care of the date and I'll take care of everything else," Stormy offered with a wink. "And don't start texting me while on a mission! That's like texting while driving! Go stay focused on the mission and then when you come back you can tell me all about it and I will nod and say wow that sucks or wow that's great and cuddle with you massively, okay?" The only reason she offered in the first place to message him was because she had a feeling he'd receive none of them while on the other side of the portal.
The motion would still soothe her anyway.
"Probably best not to think about Caelius either." She folded her hands before her. "Think light thoughts, Gale, not heavy ones. Bright ones, not dark. Better, not bitter." And maybe that sounded a little too dramatic for a simple mission, but with Nevada's condition in mind Stormy couldn't help but pile on thoughts like these--because it was so easy to have something go wrong. One little distraction. One little mistake.
A hand reached out as if to delicately pluck Gale's kiss from the air, turning her hand so that it could sit comfortably in her palm before pressing it to the center of her collarbone. She smiled at him until her fear could not hope to surpass it, until it could press against her teeth, tongue, and lips but not find escape--until it was bottled back down for a different day when he did not have to see it.
Her other hand reached out to do a wave of her own, almost of its own will coming back to her temple to press two fingers and a thumb in salute.
"Ten-four, Sherlock."
