Fortunately, Elysia needn't've worried.
Despite the fact any rational person could've seen it might end with him shredded or worse, Ameretat immediately--without blinking, without reflection--put himself firmly between Rhea and the hissing Tiwaz. He spread his wings as wide as he could in a warning rustle of feathers, holding both hands--right around the wrist of the left, left crooked into a claw--out in front of him and staring at the black-winged Tale.
"Don't," he said, simply--then, dropping into the unvoiced language, the language of threat and command: "Don't come any closer." Hopefully whatever had momentarily driven her mad would let go of Tiwaz, and they could go back to having a pleasant conversation. Though the little bird was frowning, the eyes above that frown were surprisingly solemn and emotionless.

Rhea breathed a sigh of relief as Ame stepped between herself and the now-monsterous Tiwaz. "Thanks," she whispered from behind him, her face now buried in his feathers. "You're my hero Ame." She wasn't prepared to take on something so strong quite yet. She didn't have much control over her powers, and she wasn't sure how much damage she could actually inflict.
Slowly peeking out from behind the phoenix, she stared at the girl, who seemed to have become someone else entirely. Whatever was possessing her was terribly strong...
As Rhea listened to the strange voice take over Tiwaz and scold Ame, she was afraid of what would happen once the being addressed her. But it was a mere threat, and Rhea nodded furiously, agreeing with whatever she had to to get the normal Tiwaz back. "Oh, ooooh-kay," she managed to stammer out. There would be no more telepathy with the violet-haired girl...Rhea couldn't afford to risk it again.
Once Tiwaz's eyes dulled, and she fell forward, Rhea was temped to run to the little girl. She wanted to help her, but she was afraid. Would the creature inside her return? "T-Tiwaz? Are you okay?" she asked, still looking at the girl from behind Ame. She took a tentative step from behind him, approaching the little girl slowly.
Elysia's eyes went wide as she watched Talon's little girl become something other than herself...Could it be that she was really posessed? She sidled up next to Talon, offering her an arm. "Are you okay?" she asked the shaken woman. "Maybe we should find you and Tiwaz a place to sit down," she said, ready to lead Talon to a chair.

Powers greater than-- Ameretat found himself nodding along with the thing using Tiwaz as a mouthpiece; not precisely agreeing but not exactly disagreeing, either. Child he was, certainly, and little, and likely not able to be more than a matchstick in the way of rampaging Chaos--but damn it! That's what his kind were there for, and it felt Right to intervene, and not to waver, even if he was one very little bird who was very out of his depth.
He lowered his hands as it became clear he wouldn't need to bodily intercept Tiwaz to keep her possessor away from Rhea--only to warble in confusion as the winged girl fell to her knees. Looking back over his shoulder at Rhea--expression confused, eyes composed--he gave another little warble, this one interrogative, before trying a weak smile. Not much of a smile, but a smile nonetheless. Hero; an awfully big title for someone so little.
Attention flickering to Tiwaz, the little bird hesitated a moment, before taking the side opposite Rhea and going to one knee. "Tiwaz--all rrright?" he asked, echoing Rhea's sentiment--and making an aborted gesture toward one of Tiwaz's hands with one of his own. Maybe not quite yet; maybe not until he was completely sure the--whatever, the Chaos, was out of her head.
Those red-brown eyes raised from Tiwaz a moment later, and Ame glanced over at the Authors in the room. "Talon, Andrrrea, Elysia--all rrright? Everrr'ting O-K?" So far as Ame was concerned, they could sort (or not sort) all of this out once everyone was in better sorts.

Rhea had never been in a situation where she felt fear caused by the actions of another person--and she certainly had never expected Ame to intervene. It was a trait that she'd learned from her books--bravery. In her eyes, he was a hero, regardless of whether he thought it or not. She just smiled at him as he glanced at her, her eyes saying a definite 'thank you.'
Rhea moved out from behind Ame, and moved toward Tiwaz carefully. Seeing that she was no longer threatening, and no longer had the crazy look in her eye, she she sat down next to the girl on the floor. "It's okay. It was just a little scary," she said, holding up her index finger and thumb as if she was getting ready to pinch something. "Now I know never to do that to you again...and if whoever that was ever decides that it's okay, maybe I can teach you how to do it too. So when we travel around and fight stuff together, we can talk without really talking. It's good to be quiet in those kinds of situations," she said, nodding, her face serious. She gave Tiwaz a playful nudge and a pat on the back, and smiled at the girl. "Still friends?"
Elysia just watched as Rhea went over and spoke to Tiwaz again. They didn't need to leave, she figured. Rhea was a forgiving kid. She let a lot of things slide off her back. And though she might not as been as brave as Ame, Elysia knew she would have tried to fight back if the situation called for it. Rhea wouldn't back down from a fight.
"Nah," Elysia said, pointing to the two girls. "I think we'll probably be okay to stay for a bit longer. As long as no one else minds..."

Though he had by now placed a hand on Tiwaz's shoulder, Ameretat's attention appeared to be on the adults as Talon explained the predicament she'd put her Tale in. A moment later, the little bird looked away, letting out a breath in a low whistle of dismay. "Not that upset," he assured Tiwaz a moment later. "Only a little scarrred. Worrrried forrr you." It was definitely good that he hadn't had to prevent her physically from going after Rhea; that would've been upsetting all the way around.
After a moment or two of thought, he followed Tiwaz's example and settled down next to her on the floor. He tucked his wings around him as he did, and canted his head up at Rhea as she spoke. "Talk silently?" he asked, as if in wonderment--before tapping two fingers against his brow above his right eye. "In 'ead? No worrrds?" How interesting! Though he could see why that might've bothered something like Chaos.
The thought made Ame paw at his head a moment later, shaking it and whistling to himself in his own weird little language. Whatever was wrong with him, that he was thinking all these strange things? One moment he'd gone from being glad he hadn't had to fight Tiwaz to wishing he had! "No," he said distinctly, if quietly. "No. No, no."
Saying it didn't make it so, though. He took in a deep breath and let it out again in an explosive sigh. Maybe if they got off the topic. "Trrravel wherrre?" he directed at Rhea.

Rhea nodded, agreeing completely with Ame. "Yeah, we were just worried about you. It didn't seem like you anymore..."
Rhea smiled at Ame. "Do you want to try the head talking?" she asked, eager to find someone who liked to talk telepathically as much as she did. "I want to ask first this time...I don't want to get in trouble again...But if you try hard, I'll bet I can pick up on what you're saying."
Hearing Ame speak in his own language again, Rhea had to ask what language it was. "Ame, I really like that language. Do you know what it's called?" she asked. "I'll bet I couldn't make those sounds. It must take a lot of talent.
"Travel where?" She looked down, tapping a finger to her forehead. "Well, I'm not so sure. I haven't been very far in Gaia, so I don't know where we'd go. But I know there are other places besides the things we know. We're just little right? There's a whole world of places to go!" she said, enthusiasm bubbling out.
Rhea nodded to Tiwaz, glad that they were still friends. "Good. I'm glad we can still be friends. I'll just be sure to respect that person," she said. And then she thought of a wonderful idea...but it'd have to wait for the next time she saw the dark-haired girl.
"Oooh, steeds?" she asked, her eyes filling with excitement. "Maybe we can teach Enigma how to change colors---or we can just put clothes on him," she said with a little giggle.
"Yeah, it looks like. Good thing though. Who knows what kind of chaos would have broken out. Hopefully one day Tiwaz will be able to control the Chaos inside her..." She paused. "At least you know part of the story behind Tiwaz now...Rhea is still a mystery," she said, looking over at her daughter, who seemed as if she was making big plans with her new friends.

All the attention being paid to his speech made Ame momentarily self-conscious. He ducked his head, twittering a thanks to Tiwaz, before running his fingers briefly through his mane to set it to rights. Rhea's question bore some thinking about; he hadn't really considered what language, exactly, he was speaking other than its being the language he'd been born speaking, with English as a distant second. Hadn't Father given a name to it, though, not so long ago? The same language his own name came from. Ame gave a brief flip of his wings, looking up as the two girl Tales talked of their adventures.
"Avestan," he volunteered, after a moment. "Fatherrr says--speak Avestan. Old language. Language of the 'ymns, forrr singing." Which brought him around to Rhea's suggestion of head-talk, something that evoked a thoughtful warble from the little bird. "'Ead-talk? Would trrrry! Trrrust you; sounds nice." He bobbed his head in affirmation on this thought; it might've upset Tiwaz's...Chaos thing, but that didn't make it a bad thing, did it. Besides, he was curious; Father and the woman Jenner had something like head-talk, he was sure, if only he could sort it out...

Rhea waited to hear what his language was called expectantly. She was always interested in learning more, and it seemed appropriate that she ask. After all, she wanted to go home and look it up, just to know more about it.
"Avestan sounds like a very nice language Ame. I'll bet you sing wonderfully! I wish I could do it, but I'm afraid I can't make those noises!" She let out a little whistle. "That's all I can do," she giggled, throwing her hands into the air momentarily.
Rhea was pleased that Ame was curious enough to try the head talking. She could always appreciate an open mind, unlike Chaos, who didn't seem to appreciate it at all. "Thanks for trusting me Ame. It won't hurt you. I've already tried it with a couple of people, including Sylvester. He's another Tale," she assured him, nodding. "All you have to do is open your mind...Focus on me, and listen..."
She turned to Tiwaz and smiled. "Thanks for looking after him. I think he'll be okay, but just in case, I'm glad you're here."
Focusing back on Ame, she looked at him, and pushed out a message.
"Ame, can you hear me?" she asked, concentrating as hard as she could. "Just try to say something back if you can hear me. I'll try to pick it up, okay?"
"True," Elysia agreed, nodding. "Now that you know, now all you have to do is figure out what Chaos does and doesn't like."

At this, Ame gave one of his laugh-like trills. "Sing--not the best singerrr, not...what this one does. Do trrry to, though. Could teach you, Rrrhea! Is not so 'arrrd." He paused; had he a nose, he'd wrinkle it up now, instead managing somehow the expression with a furrowing of his brows and a slight shake of his head. "Not hharrrderrr than English," he added a moment later, a spot of humor despite the sobriety of his eyes.
He tilted his head to one side as Tiwaz volunteered to watch, apparently not getting it was a joke. Hastening to reassure her, tone dipping into the sober again: "Won't fall overrr. Don't think 'ead-talking hhurrrts me!"
Those red-brown eyes flicked back to Rhea as she spoke up once more, and he nodded seriously. "O-K." Shifting a little with a rustle of feathers as he adjusted his wings, he folded his hands on his lap and focused on her--which apparently meant staring intently, as if something in her demeanor or appearance would help him "hear" her in his head.
And hear, he did, loud and clear--it seemed that the little bird had one of those well-organized minds that was quite conducive to psychic contact. It was definitely not a HUMAN mind, though; one painted in all the colors of flame... And one that didn't seem to be thinking of itself at all... And hot, strangely hot, if thoughts could have heat to them. "One can hear you, Rhea. This doesn't hurt you, does it?" A matter of some concern, given the structure of his thoughts.

"Nope! It doesn't hurt at all!", she answered back, glad to hear that it didn't bother Ame. "Isn't it cool!? I like talking this way. It helps keep things secret if you need them to be."
She smiled at the phoenix Tale, glad that he could hear her. Her powers were getting stronger by the day, and if she could keep working on them, she imagined that one day, she'd be able to head-talk to people far far away. And wouldn't that be cool!?
"If you can teach me how to sing, I'd love that. I'm not so good at it..." she said, speaking more softly this time. She didn't want to give poor Ame a heart attack. There was no need to shout. "English is the hardest language to learn. Well, at least that's what they encyclopedia that Mom has says...I'd love to learn sometime though." She let out a little whistle, trying to imitate Ame, but failing miserably. Instead, she giggled, mostly out of embarassment, hoping that her face hadn't flushed bright red like it usually did when she messed something up or said something without thinking.
It was then that the silence was broken by the sound of Elysia's cell phone going off, and Rhea's concentration was broken as she looked over to see who had called.
Only half of the conversation could be heard, but it sounded as if there was some trouble back at the lab.
"Really?" Elysia's face looked pleased. "They're ready? Awesome. I'll be there soon." There was a beep, and Elysia clicked the phone shut.
"Rhea...sorry to interrupt your time with Ame and Tiwaz, but I need to get back to the lab. It looks like Flora and Faun are ready to hatch, and I'd like to be there."
"Aww, we have to go already?" she asked, giving her mother the saddest puppy-dog eyes she could muster. "Fine, fine. I'm coming." Rhea stood up and smiled at her friends. "Sorry guys, I've gotta go."
